Still have an old tape of this I might watch like once every couple years, to me it's the perfect example of so-bad-it's-good, from the chopping of the tail to Alec Baldwins' YOU'RE FIRED to the fact Paris Hilton is in it cause, reasons? It's just so nonsensical and out there, that it just works somehow. It's just fun to watch sometimes
Is this as bad as everyone says?

I thought it was funny at times. The problem was that it barely felt like a Cat in the Hat movie and more like a weird parody.
It's not supposed to feel like Cat in the Hat, how can you realistically make a feature length film out of a 500 word book?
The same way people liked the original adaptation with of The Grinch starring Jim Carrey. It had wacky jokes but still prioritized the story of the original book. Cat in the Hat tried to one up the comedy to the point it comes off as strange.
>adapt a book into a movie
>”it’s not supposed to be like the book”
It's a tax write off movie which was pretty common in the 00s. The writers where from a Seinfeld background so just had fun with what weird shit they could get away with. It's guilty pleasure slop for myself
Watch it yourself and draw your own conclusions.
>Alec Baldwins' YOU'RE FIRED
I thought that was Steve Carrell.
It was neither, it was french stewert or stuart idk how it's spelled.
If you go into this expecting a mike meyers comedy and not a super faithful dr seuss adaptation, you'll enjoy it. I thought it was great.
Honestly the best way to describe this movie is Austin Powers 3 and a Half
It’s not a good movie but it is fun to watch
This made Dr. Seuss' widow make it so no lice action Dr. Seuss adaptations could be made anymore.
This is a good movie to watch on a summer afternoon, screw the critics.
NO
Kino
It faithfully adapts the surrealism of Cat in the Hat, despite it being unfaithful to the book in terms of tone. I think it is a good adaption and one with a good message.
It's so bad its good should just be called good btw.
It's also hilarious too, which is a strong plus.
