It's from the cartoon series, that said, I can't recall many people going for human often in most DnD campaigns I've played, it's unusual for me to see half of a party comprised of humans, much more unusual for an entire party.

I’m a moron, I thought this was about the Honor Among Thieves movie.
        Carry on.

but other DnD modules tends to just put them in as an easter egg, knowing that a lot of people actually like them
and they unironically added their gear in one of the 3e books for the players and they are incredibly overpowered

The ethnicity really doesn't matter, what matters is that the adaptated character is actually being portrayed otherwise it's just a completely different character
See the Disney Cinderella(s) where the ethnicity is the same but they just made her a different character for no reason

                Anonymous

Because if you cannot do something a simple as portray ethnicity correctly, you betray you will not respect other traits.

Take Alfred the Butler for example, is the character Alfred if he's not English? Nope, his ethnicity is core to several very important parts of his character.

                Anonymous

Yeah, it's important for Alfred. You're belying your own point, the motherfricking D&D crew?

                Anonymous

Read my post again; Ethnicity is one of the most superficial visual cues ever, it's a direct sign if you tamper with it you will not get the other themes.

You can count on one hand the ethnicity changes that kept other more complex themes.

Black Kingpin, that is literally it. Even Black Nick Fury missed out many key points.

                Anonymous

Don't weasel around, you're the one who brought up Alfred as a character whose "ethnicity is core to several very important parts of his character". If you can't defend the damn point don't bring it up.

It's a very large and densely populated nation so "religious" is pretty vague but yes. Just keep in mind that their roots in "religion" involve blood worship alongside the kumbaya stuff.

Becuase this "Joke" has been done to literal death in every single piece of media that ever exists. People are tired of "Haha old thing was goofy and dumb" because new stuff is just as stupid but people either treat it deathly serious or hide it behind a layer of irony.

Yes, we get it, the old TV show was silly and harmless fun, how funny to show this lighthearted show get eaten by Tiamat or be mauled in an arena. but get this, the Shitty Black person elves and Butch Lesbian Muttoids look just as hamfisted and goofy and the layers of irony just look like a shit smear.

I'd rather have sincre and honest goofiness than Ironic embarassed for itself goofiness.

I have grown up, I have been grown up for a good while now; I am sick of this constant charade of dishonest surrounding media, that everything must be a cynical take on modern sensibilities, this is not a "Fresh Outrage" this is a fundamental issue in all of our media in this day and age, where people care more about skin tone and aligning with political ideologies or social media clout than actually telling a story, no matter how goofy it can be.

I am sick of everything being stuck in the childish phase of teenage nihilism.
