Is this the best depitcion of a homosexual couple on tv?

When you think about it, other production companies like Netflix and Disney depict gay characters as flawless, smart, strong leaders to be the voice of reason and are even at times unrealsitic self inserts from tumblr writers.

These two however are weak, clumsy frick ups that fail to break stereotypes when they try. They even had an episode where they failed to boycott a "homophobic" resturant because the food was too good.

Caricatures work better on TV than normal people.

Cuz he's hamming it up, the director can tell him to do a gayer take but saying that to the real homosexual would get him in trouble. I agree with OP though accurate depiction, their gayness EQ is adjusted properly and sounds realistic, and they aren't afraid to give the characters some negatives in balance with their strengths.

Good show only thing I really dislike is how rich they all are like the show sells itself on wide representation but everyone is rich now like that's the norm bucko even gays and immigrants make it

It is revealed later in the show that Jay paid for Phil and Claire's house. Mitch and Cam's house isn't that big.

Howevery in the final season, every character ends up being rich by either becoming business owners or acquire a high paying job out of nowhere.
That's the most unrealistic part of the show and they just shoved in too many subplots that ended up being abondoned.

Modern Family is way better than it has any right to be. Granted by like season 4-5 it started getting very stale.

I find it hard to binge because every joke is essentially "character confidently asserts something about themselves followed by a smash-cut to either them immediately being proven wrong or another character stating the opposite" but for a popular mainstream sitcom it is surprisingly well made.

unfortunately, most family sitcoms are already doomed around that time, when the kids grow up, go to college and the family dynamic is never the same

it has some wicked good peaks with some wicked bad lows but overall pretty alright.
Luke causing a bunch of drama and it cutting to him saying "sometimes i like to throw a grenade and walk away", that's funny

You couldn't make this show now, because the alphabet community would complain that Cam was played by a straight male and not an actual gay person.

They sort of did that back in the day, I remember reading an article where someone complained about Mitch and Cam never having sex on the show and hoe their relationship is toxic.

6 Feet Under did it pretty well. While there are monogamous gay couples, a lot deal with either polygamy or infidelity which 6 Feet made a plot point. It was very accurate especially for the time

The gay dudes on six feet under were “normal” gay guys but still complete degenerate weirdos. Like when they pimp out the black one to the weird little guy to get the other one out of trouble
