It's Nolan's best no question, but is this as good as the genre gets?
It hits the perfect middle ground between pretentious tripe like 2001 and Hollywood schlock such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, etc.
It's flawless tbh (for me)

>the only thing faster than space time is the power of love
Matter is actually just energy that slowed down to feel the love. And by love I mean fields of Higgs Bosons.
No one says love is "faster" than anything.
She says it transcends dimensions, but in more of a metaphorical way, not a literal physical property of the universe
Kino
You people are actually retarded
The thing about love was said by Brand when she was trying to convince them to go to her lover's planet, and the rest of them scoffed at her.
Cooper repeats a similar line, not to say that love is some scientific concept, but that love is the reason his daughter came back to the watch. The way to communicate was still the tesseract the humans from the future set up.
Its not even Nolans best sci-fi movie.
good music and looks nice but is full retarded
That scene when the black guy explains the black hole or whatever on a little piece of paper could have been better.
he wasn't explaining what a black hole is, he was explaining why it was a sphere.
no
2001 isn't actually a coherent narrative. And the part where the guy goes to the lunar outpost is boring.
People will say Nolan's movies are overcomplex bullshit than say 2001 is good, despite the fact that the ending of 2001 is actually overcomplex bullshit, while Nolan's all make sense except for Tenet
see, he didn't even do a good job at that
Tenet wasn't really confusing.
He thinks 2001 is incoherent, he's retarded
https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/rt25-fans-top-movies-of-the-last-25-years/
OP is being serious, and agrees with this. I am ashamed and appalled that I share this board with someone so hideous.
It scratches all the right itches for me, so yes it is one of the best imo
It's complete garbage
In terms of how entertaining it is, I'd put it up there. Its a good story, the plot is exciting, and its good at setting up emotion and making you root for the characters. Sound track is also one of the best. The nolan haters on here will deny it, but it is a good movie.
Its far better than 2001, which is as you said an overrated pretentious tripe.
However, in my opinion The Thing is probably the best sci-fi movie. Also, The Prestige might be Nolan's best scifi, but I'd put Interstellar and The Prestige up there in best sci-fi movies
Probably not. Haven't seen it, but "Best Sci-Fi film ever made" isn't really something that I see Nolan pulling off.
You're speaking to the wrong audience.
The people on here don't like enjoyable movies, they like overanalyzing the plot (and showing lack of media comprehension in the process) and nitpicking details for scientific accuracy (in a Sci-Fi movie lol).
They also have a hate boner against Nolan since he's popular
It's Nolan's best movie, but definitely not flawless. It has some occasional bad acting and bad dialogue
Go back
2001 mogs it in every respect
>artsy self aggrandizing visual barf
vs
>actual plot with clear goals and interesting situations
we get it, you have pretend like it's the greatest movie because you didn't understand it until you read the wiki page on it.
it's okay to not like a movie that isn't coherent.
>i'm too dumb to understand movie
>that must mean it's incoherent
Stay filtered brainlet
>i have to defend this garbage because i based my entire personality around it!
kubrick was a hack.
2001 is a boring PoS
I guess at the time it was great for the cinematography and the specific gyroscopic camera footage, but even the sequel 2010 is better than 2001
same thing wrong with bladerunner.
at the time, it was ground breaking, but better and more entertaining things came around.
plus ridley scott is overrated as a director. He starts good things, but other directors utilize the worlds better.
aliens
2049
Imagine being this much of a contrarian homosexual
lmao we don't like slow paced boring movies, we're contrarian!
see i actually watch and enjoy movies, unlike you.
i don't watch movies in hopes that spergs like you will approve of them.
one of the best space safaris but not the best sci fi no way jose
it’s also Contact II: This Time We Go To Space
Those shots still look fucking pristine what are you talking about
Contact jumped the Shark with the reveal that her dad was an alien all along.
Another great Sci-Fi film is K-PAX.
Are you retarded?
Her dad showed her the star system he was from when they were kids. The alien also calls her sweet pea. She also never leaves Earth, so it's her dad talking to her telepathically.
the way you feel is to be clinically retarded
>10 minutes of breathing sounds
im not a mega fan of it, but it did filter a lot of people.
scifi nerds can't handle emotions in their autism material.
I think it has great stuff in it but it's not a great film overall.
>waaaaa why does my space movie have emotions in it
>the characters should just leave earth and everyone they every knew forever and be fine with it
This and The Martian are best.
martian is pure reddit shit, but more palatable for larger groups than interstellar is.
I enjoyed the Martian, but Interstellar is better
If I'm ever drunk and just want to watch a random movie I just put on Interstellar and I enjoy it every time
>BRRRAAAAAAP
close. the real answer is Inception.
this.
inception has to be the best character driven plot he has, only seconded by dark knight.
it was pretty good until he fell into the murf zone
>the murf zone
I would fuck Mackenzie Foy.
Lewd
I just wish shed get fucking cast in something new already
Best scifi movies:
1. The Thing
2. Interstellar
3. The Prestige
4. Blade Runner
5. Alien
Not listed because it isn't actually a good movie and lacks a coherent narrative and I would rank Prometheus well above it:
2001: A Space Odyssey
replace alien with aliens, move that above blade runner and i completely agree.
blade runner, while the world is cool, the pacing of it ruins the ability to watch it.
and yes, movies are supposed to be entertaining.
lol you fucking pleb
>Solaris
>2001: A Space Odyssey
>Dark Star
>Armageddon
>Planet of the Apes
>Total Recall
>Starship Troopers
honorable mention: Sunshine
>2 Nolans.
Jesus CHRIST. Do (You) browse IMDB? I know (You) do.
yeah, nolan makes good movies, cry harder.
you're Cinemaphile approved "literally me" movies will never be that good.
prime example, most of the movies in these lists are boring, artsy garbage meant to make autsits like most of Cinemaphile feel smart for watching.
>The Thing
>Blade Runner
>best
Turboplebbitor spotted
>ctrl-F "foy"
>no results
Get it together fags
Based. That girl is cute. If only she wasn't an actress. That's the type of girl you wife.
Looks like my ex
the original planet of the apes is a better sci-fi movie
it's not ghost in the shell, so no
The story still makes no sense after watching it 5 times: how did people from the future come back and save humanity in the past, if humanity would die out without help from people in the future? I presume Anne Hathaway gave humanity a new beginning and eventually they evolved into literal gods who could travel time, but why would they then go back and change history? Just makes no sense and is literally impossible, sort of like falling into a black hole and then just popping out of it fine and dandy after a while.
The entire third act seems like it was rewritten by retards for retards who need a happy ending
And also gravity was 100 times better movie
Star Trek wasn’t schlock until JJ Abrams and his retard gang got their mitts on it, so shut the fuck up
a single scene ruined the whole movie for me.
trump lost chud
This just adds to his feelings that humans suck and stealing the ship.
We're hitting levels of naranja that shouldn't even be possible.
Ad Astra did it better.
>Apocalypse Now, but in space and boring
Nolan haters and kubrickfags have been thoroughly btfo in this thread
No, it's one of the best, since it's on the same level as 2001 and Star Wars: A New Hope: Special Edition
>Crop blight
>Better pack up and head out to some barren rock-ball
>2001
>pretentious
I enjoyed watching it when I was like 14. It's not like it asks you to learn quantum mechanics or something before you can understand it.
that's a whole lot of cope for getting filtered.
2001 falls victim to Cinemaphile's typical problem of not understanding that it's ok for different people to like different things.
I love the movie, it makes my hair stand on end and I think it's the closest I've seen other than Tarkovsky to putting something sublime and superhuman on a cinema screen.
Other people think it's boring as shit, and that's fine.
It is fun to argue though.
i love interstellar but i feel like it was written by a woman it's so stupid. btw gravity and 2001 suck
Nolan is the quintessential midwit filmmaker
>midwit
is that just a term you spam when someone isn't slobbering all over drive or american psycho?
not everyone has to appeal to the autistic sperg sensibilities
>wow look, he’s turned into a baby and is now heading to earth, it symbolizes humanity’s self-destruction or something. Wasn’t that such a thought provoking movie
honestly the genre itself, being hard sci fi, is severely lacking and any big budget shit would immediately be ""good"".
>makes sloppenheimer over 3 hours long
>makes the emotional climax who gives a shit dueling security clearances, one about some literal who
Bravo Nolan!
>NOOO WHY WASN'T THE BIOGRAPHY MOVIE ACTION PACKED?!?!
retard
Nolancucks are embarassing
kubrickfags are as insufferable as vegans
i mean he made literally nothing but 10/10s back to back through his entire career so at least they have an excuse to be loud
>made 10/10s
yeah, if you're as autistic as kubrick was.
It would be a better movie if they ended it right when he goes into the black hole. Oh and they completely get rid of the subplot back on earth holy fuck I don't care about his daughter.
Everything after he goes into the black hole is garbage.
Interstellar reminds me when my ex came to my house for my sister's birthday party and I went and watched Interstellar after work then snuck into the guest room and she sat on my face. Good times
Girls like Interstellar sure.
My sister came at me (it was long ago). "Did you see this move? Gosh i you need to this movie!" And we watched it together (she second or maybe tens time) and she had round eyes.
White girl movie.
welp, there it is, why Cinemaphile has to hate it, because women are able to like it.
I argued with a friend of a friend who loved that film. Really hot girl I mightve been able to fuck, but I autismed out and she doesn't like me now
>Is this the best sci-fi movie ever made
Its fantasy movie.
i know play with blacks holes is cute and all. But if its scientific fiction you are dealing with cosmic tier energies If they land in gravitation time dilation zone and can fly back they have ship with delta V of around 1c and such ship is meta braking. First of all it has power output more than current humanity produce in the years and that brakes entire premise about "muh energy crisis".
tldr you are too dumb to comprehended what is written above.
It’s up there. I almost cried at the end tbh
BR2049 is the best though
i like it because it admits the moon landing's were a hoax and it was all just a lie to keep people interested in space exploration and funding nasa.
