Is this the best sci-fi movie ever made?

It's Nolan's best no question, but is this as good as the genre gets?
It hits the perfect middle ground between pretentious tripe like 2001 and Hollywood schlock such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, etc.
It's flawless tbh (for me)

Matter is actually just energy that slowed down to feel the love. And by love I mean fields of Higgs Bosons.

No one says love is "faster" than anything.
She says it transcends dimensions, but in more of a metaphorical way, not a literal physical property of the universe

      You people are actually retarded
The thing about love was said by Brand when she was trying to convince them to go to her lover's planet, and the rest of them scoffed at her.
Cooper repeats a similar line, not to say that love is some scientific concept, but that love is the reason his daughter came back to the watch. The way to communicate was still the tesseract the humans from the future set up.

he wasn't explaining what a black hole is, he was explaining why it was a sphere.

2001 mogs it in every respect

      no
2001 isn't actually a coherent narrative. And the part where the guy goes to the lunar outpost is boring.
People will say Nolan's movies are overcomplex bullshit than say 2001 is good, despite the fact that the ending of 2001 is actually overcomplex bullshit, while Nolan's all make sense except for Tenet

In terms of how entertaining it is, I'd put it up there. Its a good story, the plot is exciting, and its good at setting up emotion and making you root for the characters. Sound track is also one of the best. The nolan haters on here will deny it, but it is a good movie.
Its far better than 2001, which is as you said an overrated pretentious tripe.

However, in my opinion The Thing is probably the best sci-fi movie. Also, The Prestige might be Nolan's best scifi, but I'd put Interstellar and The Prestige up there in best sci-fi movies

  10. 2 months ago
    Anonymous

Probably not. Haven't seen it, but "Best Sci-Fi film ever made" isn't really something that I see Nolan pulling off.

  11. 2 months ago

You're speaking to the wrong audience.
The people on here don't like enjoyable movies, they like overanalyzing the plot (and showing lack of media comprehension in the process) and nitpicking details for scientific accuracy (in a Sci-Fi movie lol).
They also have a hate boner against Nolan since he's popular

The story still makes no sense after watching it 5 times: how did people from the future come back and save humanity in the past, if humanity would die out without help from people in the future? I presume Anne Hathaway gave humanity a new beginning and eventually they evolved into literal gods who could travel time, but why would they then go back and change history? Just makes no sense and is literally impossible, sort of like falling into a black hole and then just popping out of it fine and dandy after a while.

2001 falls victim to Cinemaphile's typical problem of not understanding that it's ok for different people to like different things.
I love the movie, it makes my hair stand on end and I think it's the closest I've seen other than Tarkovsky to putting something sublime and superhuman on a cinema screen.

But if its scientific fiction you are dealing with cosmic tier energies If they land in gravitation time dilation zone and can fly back they have ship with delta V of around 1c and such ship is meta braking.
