Certain Cinemaphile boards have had essentially the same userbase for the last 15-20 years. People who were posting "epic win xD" in 2008 as 14 year olds are now grown adults and have a more mature sense of humor. The "millenial humor" which exists today is just a result of arrested development of kids who were watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail on bus rides when they were kids.
I was saying that from experience. I've been on this site on and off since 05, I'm 35.
A lot of people did mature or change (I even found python stuff funny when I was a teen) but there's a much larger exchange of humor and users between reddit and Cinemaphile than I think people realize and or care to admit and the current humor of Cinemaphile and zoomers is going to be the next reddit/cringe shit in a few years time.
I disagree, I think we have largely stagnated (as people tend to do once they reach a certain age). I do agree there is a ton of admixture from twitter and reddit, but has anything really changed in the last 5 years or so? On small boards it's the same in-jokes in reference to something that happened a decade ago, pepe and wojak have become entrenched in reaction images. The topics under discussion might change over time as new movies/games/anime/etc gets released but it's the same patterns.

The hobbyist boards really didn't, and the influx of /misc/ posters into other boards post-election was relatively contained thanks to gatekeeping users who wanted to protect board culture and (jannies). Cinemaphile may have grown, but an average legacy user was more or less unaffected.
I use /tg/ and that has really changed in the opposite direction. It’s very Reddit liberal there, nothing like how it used to be. It’s not even /misc/tards there, I think it grew from popular /tg/ green text reading YouTube videos that got millions of views and were posted to Reddit.

I loved it when I first saw it as a kid. But as I got older people constantly quoting it started to wear me down. People have to take everything and turn it into a weird identity. Repeating lines of tv shows and movies at one another is a weird way to do it. I still like the movies, but I hate the nerds who parrot them.
I also really really hate that shit. I despise that every community for anything needs to repeat the same 3 jokes at eachother ceaselessly. I like warhammer but want to kill every single warhammer fan on the planet, they have got to be the WORST with this shit. The problem with the Spanish Inquisition skit is the most memorable part is just the line “no one expects the Spanish Inquisition “ but it just goes on and on which is Monty Python’s signature anti-humour is they keep sketches going until they’re beaten into the ground. It was like the BBC paid them by the line not by season.
