It seriously bugs me that people don't seem to regard this movie as one of the best. Why? I will admit that I am a loser. I am a failure. I am the guy that looks at this film wistfully,
I love it.

I meant to title the thread "Gattaca"
Cinemaphile loves this movie idk what you are talking about.
We all admit it is one of the movies of all time.
i had wasted a vast majority of my years on Cinemaphile on Cinemaphile, having only been a frequent of Cinemaphile for a half a year or so.
Then you should know MGS 1. It's similar themes.
It really is one of the movies of all time op is a homosexual
it's a stupid racism analogy
you coy dog
it's true.
No it isn’t
yes it is
>racism
no
>eugenics
yes
>stupid
no
hey guys, please. this board is so flooded with race banter. can't we just talk about the movie?
it is stupid, the protagonist's sole goal is to selfishly endanger a million dollar space mission.
>endanger
Wrong. He was one of the best students.
doesnt he had a moron heart that could pop at any moment or something to that effect?
On paper. That's why it's also an argument against eugenics. Like how you can have "asthma" as a kid but go on to run track and even never have "asthma" ever again. As a kid the asthmatic would have never gone running because he would be told he wasn't able to.
thats not really a good comparison because the asthma is ambiguous only due to a lack of data. his genetics do have risk and like any insurance company they are doing due diligence by discriminating against him to avoid a massive financial/human disaster.
Nope. It's a fine example, you're being unnecessarily difficult. Each one of the parameters of the metaphor don't have to plug and fit because the gist is solid.
>risk
They aren't idiots. He isn't "the engineer" and they, as a group, would not be put in a position to be all killed off by the loss of one of their own. Realistically, they do "expertise" in a field or two and peripheral study in other stuff so they can get by in an emergency. IRL they call it "redundancy." It's layers of security by not having one thing be able to frick up everything else. I didn't invent it but I came up with it for this and I'm not even smart enough to run a space program.
So, what makes you think they didn't think of what you thought of? You think they didn't plan for someone's sudden death... in space?
if they arent idiots then why do you think their policy of weeding out extra risks is incorrect?
How stupid do you have to be to not understand there can be stupid smart people? America is awesome but we had slavery. Same principle. Book smart, street stupid. Etc etc.
Also, because it's geteticismist. The trope being simultaneously anti communist and defying the odds, etc. Like, you're an idiot, why are you even typing at me in the first place? See how mean that is?
Hey, you typed it. Thank yourself.
I thought I did. "Thanks, anon."
He almost had a heart attack from running on the treadmill. For all we know he died during takeoff.
Being perfect health is a redundancy measure. For all you know he's still up there and king of the space pirates.
The "tests" aren't for meeting the minimum requirement for space travel. It's for being brutal in order to weed out "lessers."
I thought everyone on Cinemaphile loved this movie. I must've been mistaken.
hahaha nice
i dunno man the whole movie is like chocolate visually. did you not appreciate that or see it in the same way?
i viewed it as him narrowly escaping it, not so much that they let it go
regardless of what direction it points in its blue pilled and cope
no wonder the same director made the movie in time
incredibly low iq but well shot
they still show this movie to science kids and majors so it's holding up OP
this movie is top tier. I think it's mostly just normies who don't know about it, or don't appreciate it. I was going to say that it isn't bing-bing-wahoo enough for normalgays to care about, but really I think the theme itself probably doesn't resonate with them so they don't care too much.
It's good but I kept on waiting for it to be great. No twist on its central idea, the story is extremely straight forward, it's nothing special to look at. It's a perfectly fine movie but there's nothing that elevates it
They seriously named the uber mensch "Jerome"? I mean seriously?
>burns himself alive
Yeah cool gold medal but it really did seem like they gave up on chasing them for that
> My heart is already 10.000 beats overdue
pulse 60
10000 / 60 / 60 = 2.78h
wow my genetics forecast my death by heart attack to the minute but look how far I surpassed it..
excellent writing
10 beats? That's not what he said.
Excellent typing.
ten point zero zero zero beats
excellent reply thanks
Ya this movie is fantastic.
Thank you bro
Always. He's gay and also doesn't believe in the system. He comments on Ethan Hawke's dick size a couple times.
me too bro
For how long was Dr Lamar aware of Vincent's status as an invalid?
that's one of my favorite movies tho
I actually would rather live in this world. Even as an invalid
Surrounded by superchads you are bound to have some of their chadness shed on you.
alpha/beta mentorship is the gayest narrative device in existence and almost ensures degeneration. If your story can't inspire a little greatness in every man without relying on this crux of a contrast you don't have a good story.
hm, makin me think here.
coool man
everybody i know thinks this movie is great
so?
The track at the end of the movie was so fricking good. Some of the best movie music ever.
