It's a love letter to New Hollywood. It's just a charming buddy movie with the horror of what happened to Sharon Tate still going right above you.

If you don't like it that's fine, it feels almost like a companion piece to The Big Lebowski.

    Truth.
Zoomer gays will never accept this though.
The Margot scenes were drawn out and existed purely for the sake of subversion since the audience went in thinking Tate was going to be brutally murdered at the end.
The Leo and Brad scenes were maximum comfy but had little direction. This was further compounded by the numerous tv and film homages scattered throughout that, again, were comfy but bloated.
The film is way too long for a story that says nothing.
The theatrical cut should've been the director's cut, and the the actual theatrical cut should've been an hour shorter.

It's a boomer's fan fiction about the Hollywood of his childhood. It's extremely well made, but it's just jacking off 1969/70. Pretty annoying how much buzz this movie got when Hail, Caesar flew so far under the radar.
