It could have been an interesting middle-ground if they thought he lost his memories forever, but at the end he started to faintly remember a little bit. Like a gradual process.
But yeah, the way it actually went down was lame.

McGucket showed that the memory-erasing gun isn't permanent, but it takes time and effort to recover. Ending the show with Stan getting some of his memories back with the promise he'll get even better as he goes adventuring with Ford would have been best. Mabel could have given him her scrapbook as a going away present.

I'm okay with him gradually getting his memories back. Just wish it didn't happen like immediately afterwards.

It didn't though. It just seemed that way.

If time baby didn't actually die and is just going to be reborn thousands of years into the future why doesn't he just go back in time to immediately after the moment he died

Good thing Amphibia had Anne technically die for real in the finale.

Honestly I would’ve thought that a 60-something old man speedrunning dementia would’ve been the easier sacrifice to keep permanent-ish than a little girl actually dying in front of her sobbing loved ones

Anne and her friends seem to think she's a different person. They're celebrating Anne 2's birthday on the anniversary of copy+paste day rather than on the anniversary of Anne 1's birth.

No but with The Sleepover to end all Sleepover mentioning an afterlife. And Fixing Frobo equating souls with memories you can kinda make that connection.

She died and she never gets to see Sprig or her second family again. This was a based ending the only people mad are yurigays since she didn't fricked any of the girls.

Anne 2 is the one who never gets to see Sprig or her second family again, Anne 1 will be haunting Amphibia as a spooky ghost. And never get to see her friends or her first family again.

    Yes. It's dumb.
    but more accurately: It's CHILDISH.
Because of course, the show is made for children. It got pretty fricking dark near the end but don't forget the target audience is 12. Yes, a better ending would have hit harder, but Hirsch pulled his punch. He did not hit the children. Too hard. Except for that face thing. Holy shit.

Journal 3 and yes it took a week to get his memories back. A Montage of that was gonna be in the series proper but was cut for time.

  15. 2 years ago

I could have accepted the implication that his memories could come back, but it should have been a slow and gradual process, during his time with Stanford. Maybe Mabel gives him her scrapbook to take with him and he looks through it occasionally during his spare-time to see if anything has clicked yet.

What was even the point of taking away his memories just to give them back 45 seconds later?

because they needed the obligatory big climactic emotional moment

  17. 2 years ago

They must have wanted his memories back quickly because it was the end of the show and they wanted it to be happy. Going on a journey to try to get them back slowly or trying to make new ones when they come back next summer would have been better.

The fact he can recover memories actually makes it possible Bill isn't totally wiped out.

How about he specifically just loses all memory of himself but still remembers details about the people around him that doesn't pertain to him and he still has his skill as a con artist to help fill in the gaps?

tbh wasn't a huge fan of season 2B of Gravity Falls, it felt very rushed because I believe it was meant to originally be 3 seasons but he didn't have the mental fortitude to deal with the popularity so he chose to ax it in 2 seasons, at least the finale was actually good though
