The problem with ideologically driven writers/directors is that they dont understand the difference between characters that are unlikable, yet respected by their peers VS characters that are HATED by literally everyone.
You cannot have both protagonists be uncharismatic, unlikable, unattractive, annoying and generally unpleasant people. And furthermore, you cannot have an actress that is probably the worst thing on screen since Daisy Riley.
The worst part however is how typically ideologically driven the plot and final episode were. The whole thing is basically "men bad", "mystical goddess wanted revenge for native women murders, executed by a flock of native cleaning ladies".
God this was awful. Atleast the franchise is finally dead. Frick you Pizza for listening to the plebs and not just sticking to your S2 guns.
>they renewed it for season 5 with the same show runner lol
Im aware. Im speaking about it being the in the context of "no buzz, no hype and Im personally not interested anymore".

Frick Pizza for listening to fans and not defending S2 and then basically doing S3 the same shit as S1, which killed his involvement with TD.
S3 is a master class in nonlinear storytelling and is unparalleled in television except for the first two seasons.
After that he had said what he wanted to with the show and was ready to move on. Nothing wrong with that. It was HBO execs that decided to milk the teet dry and to hand he keys to some idiot who had no idea what she was doing.
>You cannot have both protagonists be uncharismatic, unlikable, unattractive, annoying and generally unpleasant people.
Of course you can. >Daisy Riley
Daisy Ridley was not the problem with nu Wars. JJ Abrams was.
So address it with a compelling story that actually has shit to say rather than some embarrassing pro-revenge fantasy tripe that retcons the entire series up to that point
It's really HBO's fault. They gave total control to 1 woman and placed her as director, writer and producer of the season. She probably had a bunch of yesmen with no one around to keep a check on her or help with the creative process. Only a few big brain auteurs can do everything at once. It's a terrible idea most of the time.
I actually went in with an open mind because I really liked Issa Lopez's film Tigers Are Not Afraid. It was a blend of magical realism and gritty crime drama that seemed perfect for TD. Having an anthology series re-imagined by a new creative each season is a potentially interesting idea. Unfortunately it was a fricking trainwreck and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. Probably the single shittiest payoff to a murder mystery I have ever seen in my entire adult life.

Native women get raped beaten and killed by their alcoholic men.
So address it with a compelling story that actually has shit to say rather than some embarrassing pro-revenge fantasy tripe that retcons the entire series up to that point
This is true. So I'm guessing the bad guys were eeeeevil white men. Even though the truth is it's horrific NA on NA violence 99% of the time.

It was renewed.
S4 made S3 looks like S1.
why did they take the innuit/injun role to a literal black woman?
Not the right question boy.
i love how middleaged women act like its as good as season 1.
It was so garbage i did a rewatch of S2 and 3 to see if they got improved by the shittyness of S4 but sadly they're still bad
for you
it was bad and then the final episode happened and it was even worse than previously thought
yes originally i wrote bad, but as i was waiting for the 300 seconds the final 5 minutes began, and i had to choose between terrible and very bad.
Sex scenes that no sane man could get off to.
I can work with webm related.
The Terror and True Detective only have one season each.
True Detective's second and third seasons are incredible and you got filtered.

How far did everyone get? I got 1,5 episodes in before dropping it.
Watched all the episodes but skipping the parts where they talk about their personal shit, too boring.
No shit Sherlock. kek oh lemme get this novice female telenovella director from El Mejico
