If your not OP why did you say you were OP here?
>can't post the exact source
The link I posted doesnt say what you typed out there you fuck
Here's the thing. OP's "cheese" is stylistic, because it wears its inspirations on its sleeve, Luffy has rubber powers because he's inspired by 30s rubber hose cartoons, when characters are surprised, their eyes bulge out of their skulls, Chopper and Drum Island is one big homage to the Rankin Bass Christamas, a major character down the line is a fucking Tim Burton/Henry Selick skeleton man
Any of that done in "realstic CG" isn't done out of "style", but out of it literally can't fucking be done in live action, so the soul isn't there.
Cowboy Bebop visually looked bland and ill fitting
The original had a bit of more light tone with its characters, but it contrasted with the bleak setting of humankind living out in space, but still subject to crime, poverty, and corruption. Spike is a goof, but it's more a way to cope with the situation that any wrong move and he can either go hungry or get his get blown off
Compare that to the live action series that, frankly had no fucking clue what it was doing or what tone it was going for
Wasn't me. But the point was, the CGI looked fake, which they tried to make it like a Speed Racer thing, when that just doesn't fit the tone or the setting.
Anonymous
>Wasn't me.
OK fair, but I don't think cheesy CGI is the main thing blocking live action anime from being successful. So I don't think the cheesy CGI working for One Piece will mean the show will be good.
Anonymous
Neither do I. But the CGI for One Piece is far and away more important than other series, because again a lot of the characters and powers can't be done without it.
For reference not too far from where this adapation is supposed to go, the crew lands on a island full of dinsoaurs, while a pair gaint vikings do battle with each other, while a man made of living wax and a little girl who make her pictures come to life butt in to kidnap the princess the crew is escorting.
Tell me if CGI is important there or not
Anonymous
But will it be better if the CGI is "cheesy"?
Anonymous
Not really. Verisimilitude only stretches so far in live action before people start to notice and take issue, and I really doubt anyone working on this has either the time, budget, or talent to make something like any of what I posted work

I know what midwit anons eager to sound smart are interpreting this to mean, but as it is written this does not make sense. Unless the sentence immediately prior was "Most adaptations have failed due to how goofy and shitty the characters look in real life" then it is gibberish.
>''"critics"" were already calling it bad from the previews
Would never happen, they already struck down the redditor who only gave it a mediocre review and forced him to delete his review.
Real question. Have the "critics" on post 2013 Rotten Tomatoes ever not "loved" the hot new corporate thing? I'm trying to think of some new product that they didn't use this line on and I just can't. The fake critics even "loved" the awful Resident Evil series.
She looks like ass with the emma watson meme haircut from that awful picture.
What happened to her. It feels like it was yesterday when she had those irritating and goofy webms come out on tumblr or whatever.
Despite how obnoxious it was to watch her emote, at least she was undeniably pretty back then
I'm saying the praise doesn't make sense. How does it being fantastical make it more suited to be in live action? How does it add to the demsion of the story and setting when what worked drawn, is ugly and jarring in live action?
it isn't ugly or jarring and has saying it being fantastical works better in live action for it than if it was going for gritty realism
Except it isn't. Because live action does not play to the strengths of the fantastic, it plays to the strengths of the grounded, because you are looking at actual people. It's not impossible to make live action into a surreal dream-like setting, but you have to be talented and know the ins and outs of filmmaking to do that.
Are you that fucking black? In the context of live action adaptation it's saying it being fantastical works better than if it were gritty realism

And here we the local retard voice is opinion >Although the swords in this collection are not movie props, they have been made at the multi-Academy Award winning Weta Workshop by the movie’s very own swordsmith, Peter Lyon, using the same designs, methods, materials and tools that were used to create the original hero weapons for ‘The Lord of the Rings’ motion picture trilogy.

I honestly feel like you have to do some mental gymnastics to think this cast looks like the Strawhats and that everyone is lying when they say they think it looks good.
luffy has too much of that broad indigenous face
usopp is decent i guess
sanji looks good
nami feels obnoxious
zoro ironically looks more like an anime than the actual character does, zoro was always drawn with a very masculine brow and this actor looks like a bishonen
I think Sanji's actor looks more suited for Zoro.
Zoro is too much of a pretty boy. The talent pool for a young, fluent in English Japanese actor is probably low though.
Nah, man, you need to wait for actual reviews, they are picking people from sites like comicbook.com or crunchyroll on purpose. Same fags who praise every capeshit flick. It's always the same, a studio cherry picks idiots who are more willing to sell their souls, shower them with gifts, and when the movie or series comes out real fans hate it.
It looks good because it seems the producers really care about the source material (unlike the Witcher) and went out of their way to cast the characters appropriately. Best cast anime adaption, it looks like.
Because Americans value live action more than anything else. Comics sell like dogshit in America. Iron Man probably doesn't even sell more than 30k a month
The anime was dog shit why would the live action be any better? You can always tell the anime normies when they say dbz or one piece is their favorite.
>Luffy is some fucking spic who'd grow up to be in some cartel snuff film

This retard is what fragility truly looks like. >WHERE IS MY BLOND BLUE EYED ARYAN LUFFY NOOOOOOO
I'm no burgermutt but you definitely are with your assuming, projecting and the idiotic way you type. Luffy just had to be a white skinned, black hair, black-eyed young man as he is portrayed for 20 fucking years. End of. Anything divergent from that is not the character no matter what Oda who has sold out his soul by virtue of this show existing at all.
I'd love for that to be the case as back in the day I sank a lot of time into this shitty Jap media series but no. Luffy is not a Mexican mutt. It's all a calculated move to say he envisioned Luffy as such due to the large swarms of spics who watch anime and the fact he probably held some stereotypes about Brazilians being fun loving which is a very thinly veiled connection to Luffy, albeit true. Plus, death of the author and the fact he's old and doesn't give a shit and took the money. That's all there is to it.
Yep,one of those things that are hyped and they try to convince you that even your grandma that can't operate a smartphone is hyped about it only to be forgotten and only brought up to be laughed at yay how organic

I wish I didn't care either, but there is a part of me that needs to see this through. I understand not wanting to though, lord knows there more than enough I'm too tired to be mad anymore.
>and it kinda hurts to see it dragged out and paraded like this
I hate seeing things I respect get treated that way too. In the end it always passes though, so don't get too worked up over it. It's going to be released in a week, then likely forgotten about in a month.
Forgotten until we start seeing the "You know, it actually wasn't that bad" that will inevitably pop up like for that mediocre D&D flick.
Do you want a medal for not caring about it?
No, just voicing my opinion and having a discussion. Which I assume this thread is for.
Thank you for contributing your unique insights.
What made you such an unpleasant person? Are you upset that there might people aren't as excited about Netflix's One Piece as you are? Grow up, man.
>bants hurt my feelings
Why are you here m8? You might prefer the vibe on Reddit.
Wow. Good bants, bro. You just sound like an idiot.
Goodness, what an unpleasant thing to say.
Sorry, buddy. I guess I won't be getting that medal?
I am rescinding it for extreme rudeness unbecoming of a Cinemaphile poster.
Your actions have consequences. Reflect on this feeling the next time before you hit Post.
>people
It's just you.
No, it's more than just him shill
Oh fuck, I misread. I thought you were the one guy defending the show being delusional.
You're right. I'm the only person who thinks this show isn't going to be that great. I can really tell by reading this thread that I'm the only one who thinks this looks dumb as fuck.
Please stop sharing, anon. You're going to end up hurting somebody's feeling
>You know what would make more fantastical and dream-like? If it were animated, like it already was
what point are you trying to make? you're upset the live action adaptation isn't animated?
I'm saying the praise doesn't make sense. How does it being fantastical make it more suited to be in live action? How does it add to the demsion of the story and setting when what worked drawn, is ugly and jarring in live action?
How does a heightened fantasy setting make it MORE suited for live action?
>How does a heightened fantasy setting make it MORE suited for live action?
I think it means more suited for live action adaptation rather than more suited for live action compared to the Anime/Manga.
Because the meaning is ambiguous you fucking retard.
>the meaning is ambiguous
Only to you, every else understands it.
>I think
I know it's a marketing line that tries to pretend One Piece being more fantastical than Cowboy Bebop means that it is more suited for live action for some reason.
See
Stop being fucking retarded and learn to read.
Are you fucking retarded and braindead? In the context of live action it works better for it to be fantastical instead of gritty realism, that's all It's saying
lmao, just lol
Kill yourself asap
How about you post the source of your seethe instead of malding over literal one person you stupid homosexual
It's your article dude. You wrote it.
>can't post the exact source
The link I posted doesnt say what you typed out there you fuck
What link are you talking about?
meant pic and was talking about the op pic
You didn't link shit, probably used developer tools to make a fake headline too you piece of shit.
I just said meant pic in the op not link

>One Piece is simply more suited for the live-action medium
In English, when something is "more suited" for one medium, that means it would be less suited for another medium. Which medium would that be?
Mongolian shadow puppets
>learn to read.
Learn to read words that aren't there?
>One Piece is simply more suited for the live-action medium
As opposed to what other medium? What other medium has One Piece been adapted to that this shill claims would be less suited than live action?
Calm down dude. I get what they're trying to say but you have to admit the quote is poorly worded.
You have used the term "gritty realism" four times now. You know what doesn't? The quote your obsessed with.
No I haven't. Pic is all I've said about it.
sorry
meant for
You never posted the source of that quote and it is not on the website op pic is from
sounds like you reworded someones actual quote into something they didnt say
So you're desperately arguing in defense of a quote I made up?
No I'm calling you out on your bullshit for getting mad over shit you literally made up
So you're admitting that the quote is retarded and wrong now that you know I made it up after defending it for 100 replies?
I never defended anything, you're confusing me with someone else, I'm pointing out your quote doesn't exist so you're just faking outrage over literally nothing
Stop lying. You're the same guy replying to everyone in this thread and you're the OP.
>One Piece is simply more suited for the live-action medium thanks to its heightened fantasy setting and underlying humor.
Do you or do you not agree with this fake quote I made up?
>reeeee noooo u r him reeeee
Nobody who saw it ever said so you need to stop coping because you got btfo
If your not OP why did you say you were OP here?
It means the usual cheesy CGI we had with anime adaptations works better in an universe were things are supposed to look cheesy.
Was there any Cheesy CGI in the Cowboy Bebop live action? It was mostly criticized for cheesy dialogue and cheesy acting not CGI.
Cowboy Bebop visually looked bland and ill fitting
The original had a bit of more light tone with its characters, but it contrasted with the bleak setting of humankind living out in space, but still subject to crime, poverty, and corruption. Spike is a goof, but it's more a way to cope with the situation that any wrong move and he can either go hungry or get his get blown off
Compare that to the live action series that, frankly had no fucking clue what it was doing or what tone it was going for
Yeah but I was talking about the CGI, you said
>the usual cheesy CGI we had with anime adaptations
So what are you talking about?
Wasn't me. But the point was, the CGI looked fake, which they tried to make it like a Speed Racer thing, when that just doesn't fit the tone or the setting.
>Wasn't me.
OK fair, but I don't think cheesy CGI is the main thing blocking live action anime from being successful. So I don't think the cheesy CGI working for One Piece will mean the show will be good.
Tell me if CGI is important there or not
But will it be better if the CGI is "cheesy"?
Not really. Verisimilitude only stretches so far in live action before people start to notice and take issue, and I really doubt anyone working on this has either the time, budget, or talent to make something like any of what I posted work
Ms Goldenweek hypnotizes with her drawings, she's not Kanjuro.
Oh right, been awhile
I also forgot the guy the booger bullets
Lenny Kravitz
>more suited for the live-action medium
>not supposed to be realistic.
AI reviews are here
Yeah? I'm a fucking ESL and perfectly understand what the reviewer is saying.
I know what midwit anons eager to sound smart are interpreting this to mean, but as it is written this does not make sense. Unless the sentence immediately prior was "Most adaptations have failed due to how goofy and shitty the characters look in real life" then it is gibberish.
the fact that you immediately got that sentence in your head just proves why they didn't need to write it
>pretending to trust critics to shill live action anime netflix slop
It doesn't get any lower than this.
Like you wouldn't endlessly shitpost if the ''"critics"" were already calling it bad from the previews. Come on now.
>''"critics"" were already calling it bad from the previews
Would never happen, they already struck down the redditor who only gave it a mediocre review and forced him to delete his review.
Nice headcanon.
It happened child, enjoy prison.
I noticed that they're calling it good "despite the obvious restrictions they had due to covid"
sounds like they're setting up excuses already
nobody mentioned covid besides you
people who are one piece fans who watched it also said its good
>people who are one piece fans who watched it also said its good
Yeah "Tolkien fans" said RoP was good. When will you retards learn what shilling is?
Looks breddy good
we won
Real question. Have the "critics" on post 2013 Rotten Tomatoes ever not "loved" the hot new corporate thing? I'm trying to think of some new product that they didn't use this line on and I just can't. The fake critics even "loved" the awful Resident Evil series.
yes
when?
Are you asking if critics ever write bad reviews? Like do you want examples?
>It's certified slop
Fixed it for you. It being slop won't stop it from being mildly entertaining for its cringe for a couple episodes though.

She looks like ass with the emma watson meme haircut from that awful picture.

The critics in the article are literal whos and weebs.
>shares many writers and producers with Cowbow Bebop

It has 0 writers from cowboy bebop and people who watched it said its nothing like cowbow bebop
matt owens didn't work on bebop
Instead he worked on masterpieces like The Defenders.
>people who watched it
*people who were paid to market it.
and you were payed to shit on it
it isn't ugly or jarring and has saying it being fantastical works better in live action for it than if it was going for gritty realism
>and you were payed to shit on it
I do it for free.
Except it isn't. Because live action does not play to the strengths of the fantastic, it plays to the strengths of the grounded, because you are looking at actual people. It's not impossible to make live action into a surreal dream-like setting, but you have to be talented and know the ins and outs of filmmaking to do that.
And nobody working on this shit does.
Are you that fucking black? In the context of live action adaptation it's saying it being fantastical works better than if it were gritty realism
Holy fuck how underage are you? It already looks faithful to the manga from everything were seen
You're just repeating the same lines like the fucking parrot you are.
Good adapations don't need to be faith 1:1 recreations of the original source material you dipshit, but DO need to faithful in tone, spirit, and just overall making it look like what it's supposed to be. Everything I've seen so does not look like the manga or anime, and I'm sick of shills like you pretending that it does
>but DO need to faithful in tone, spirit, and just overall making it look like what it's supposed to be
Good thing it is why its universally praised

Yeah, sure. Keep telling youself that, maybe you'll get a free month of Netflix for your trouble

by your own logic the manga is marvel because luffy likes robots and heroes and does tom and jerry powers
They made luffy a quippy homosexual in live action instead of a retarded cave person
No they didnt
he talks exactly like luffy

GOOD MORNING SIR!

how'd you find this pic of me
I got it from your cumeatingcuckolds.com profile.
I hope /a/ allows One Piece live-action threads. Cinemaphile is such an awful board, it literally saps the enjoyment out of everything it touches.
>he thinks /a/ would be any better
LMAO
for one actually live action discussion happens there because people actually understand the concept of adaptation on /a/ unlike this nog obsessed board
When was the last time live action adaption discussion happened on /a/? Oh yeah, it was for Cowboy Bebop lol.
every one piece thread, threads on /a/ discussing it

Are you fucking blind?
Why do you have a review copy of the show?

That's funny because it doesn't show up on any image search engine.

>Although the swords in this collection are not movie props, they have been made at the multi-Academy Award winning Weta Workshop by the movie’s very own swordsmith, Peter Lyon, using the same designs, methods, materials and tools that were used to create the original hero weapons for ‘The Lord of the Rings’ motion picture trilogy.

>not the movie props
so not the swords
No. They were used and filmed, but there were also other swords that were used in the more physical stunts of the movie
>Yes, actual swords, for stars and stunt actors alike to cut, slice, and swing at each other. Sure, in some instances rubber swords are used, like when an actor does stunts that require falling. But as high-definition video has improved, using authentic-looking swords has become more important

This isn't hard to reserch dumbfuck
How is it underage to point out that you're a shill marketer? Posting your Twitter doesn't change that.

>t. Klein Felt
What a tragically appropriate name for an effeminate israeli millennial blogger.
It's gonna be the biggest show on Netflix and the world.
Ah yes, it's "Cinemaphile is wrong again, ep. 632". Are you fags tired being wrong yet?
I honestly feel like you have to do some mental gymnastics to think this cast looks like the Strawhats and that everyone is lying when they say they think it looks good.
That's probably it. Everybody who disagrees with you is lying.
I knew it.
luffy has too much of that broad indigenous face
usopp is decent i guess
sanji looks good
nami feels obnoxious
zoro ironically looks more like an anime than the actual character does, zoro was always drawn with a very masculine brow and this actor looks like a bishonen
>sanji looks good
maybe too much of a horseface i guess, but it's more than i expected
Sanji is supposed to be handsome
I think Sanji's actor looks more suited for Zoro.
Zoro is too much of a pretty boy. The talent pool for a young, fluent in English Japanese actor is probably low though.
Zoro would be more jomon Japanese.
One season and done just like the shitty cowboy bebops slopfest
im new to one piece, 150 chapters in and from the trailer seems like they nailed it
Has Netflix ever made anything good? Dark wasn't made Netflix and the first season of Stranger Things was only ok and the rest is slop.
The west has never successfully adapted a single piece of asian media. Thus your statement is a 100% impossible.
>The west has never successfully adapted a single piece of asian media.
Categorically incorrect
They could in theory, but they always choose the ones that are culturally incompatible.
Cast her Cinemaphile
Zendaya
Florence Pugh.
>7 foot tall Amazon
Any tranny will do
She’s only 6’3”, which I guess would be imposing for a typical Nip “man” or (You), but for a man with superior genes it’s prime breeding stock.
There is an island for trannies in the series for you to obsess about, no need to implicate Amazon Lily too.
Brie Larson
Hunter Schafer
Nice
Imagine the "looking down" pose
theyre going to make her black
Casino Royale-era Eva Green
I honestly can't think of a hotter big titty brunette, maybe Daddario
Debicki with dyed hair.
Who''s Nico Robin though?
Christina Ricci would be my dream casting. She just kinda looks like an anime.
Not a bad choice, but she's too old at this point.
Me and Chris Hemsworth as Chopper.
One piece fans have such low standards it will probably be fairly successful
Weren't pre-release Ring of Power reviews overwhelmingly positive?
It will be kino, a mainstream hit even, and Cinemaphile will seethe eternally. That or it will be a shitshow. I’ll be entertained regardless.
It looks good because it seems the producers really care about the source material (unlike the Witcher) and went out of their way to cast the characters appropriately. Best cast anime adaption, it looks like.
The One Piece anime and manga failed to be popular in America. Why do they think trying again with a live action will be any different?
Because Americans value live action more than anything else. Comics sell like dogshit in America. Iron Man probably doesn't even sell more than 30k a month
Pirates of the Caribbean is dead and Netflix is hoping this can fill the void.
What did critics think of cowboy bebop live action initially?
The anime was dog shit why would the live action be any better? You can always tell the anime normies when they say dbz or one piece is their favorite.
>Luffy is some fucking spic who'd grow up to be in some cartel snuff film
I have not touched One Piece in ages and don't know what the fuck is going on anymore in the story but this isn't right.
>inb4, Oda says it's okay that he's a mutt
I don't give a shit.
Americans are a demented, mindbroken people and I hope for your quick collapse.
>I know more than the author!
Kill yourself retard.
Keep seething about a series you know nothing about.
This comment by Oda is older than you.
Keep. Seething.
Oh my science! I admit defeat!
You sound like a fucking idiot
What is Boa Hancock's nationality?
Chinese
More specifically Hong Kong Chinese, since her surname is English.

Boa Hancock is a villain?
no, the only villains are the israelites
>b-ut but akainu, kurohige, admirals, big mom,, kaidou
antagonists
But what is the background of the character? She fucks with luffy?
she fell in love with Luffy, and yeah, she wants to marry him and fuck him
she was rapped as a kid by the israelites
Elaborate
she was captured with her sisters and made slaves, the people who owned her used to rape their slaves
>They actually think this show will continue on for multiple seasons.
Luffysisters, it will be a miracle if it can make it to a Second season.
built for big rubber cock, lunafags can die in agony
Oda never did with the shichibukais
but i would say she is greek

>surprised ~~*reviewers*~~ are saying it's amazing
Who could have seen that coming? Oh man, this thing's so amazing that we should make more beloved anime into Western live-action series with leftist garbage thrown in. Maybe even those manga and anime will be partially influenced by our version because of how successful it is haha
Comfy thread
