Yeah but the meta, tongue-in-cheek attitude doesn't really fit the show all that well, since they went for a more serious direction.
Also, given the painfully slow release schedule, it's kinda tone-deaf. It reminds me of Tim Schaeffer's jokes about wasting money, just before running out of money.

I thought cooked was a reference to the Breaking Bad. The term started with "Let him cook" whenever someone announced a thing they were making/doing,
so long as thing seemed out there or

Usually when slang starts out it makes some sense because of the context it's used in. But because "ebonics" completely butcher the grammar along with the definition, the parts of speech get completely butchered too, and there's really no recovering from it. Unless the slang word loses popularity quickly, it'll stop losing all meaning and be used for just about anything, like "frick".

          Anonymous

Ebonics doesn't butcher the language, it's its own distinct dialect of English with its own linguistic rules. It's really no different from the bizarre forms of English found in the UK.

He's called Invincible because unlike most teenagers who think they're invincible, Mark's Viltrumite heritage actually makes him Invincible.

Invincible in general falls into the exact same tropes & cheap soap opera drama Kirkman makes fun of. Yet secondary normalgays watching the show won't realize this because they've never touched a comic in their lives. Maybe at least they'll read the actual Invincible comic. The comic gag was about reusing the same drawing for multiple panels. And it worked because we'd already seen a bunch of that kind of reuse beforehand, most notably the Pentagon establishing shot.

It was cornier than the comic one but I still thought the joke was funny tbtbh I just felt like it went on way too long. It would've been funnier if the episode itself was short and they used the joke to pad out the runtime (like the sideshow bob rake bit) but the episode was 50 minutes anyway so it ended up being unnecessary padding for a joke that hit the punchline a few seconds in.

It's just the west has this obnoxious, juvenile, melodramatic demeanor about it, where they have to dim the stage, turn on the spot lights and badly monologue their "scathing" essay while smugly picturing all the applause and standing ovations in their head.
While the japs are usually succinct, mostly visual about it, in good humor even when being bitter, and move right on.
I agree though, to be meta, it needs to be first class within the IP

It'd be funnier if he was more honest and said that compared to action scenes, scenes of characters standing around talking is cheap and easy to animate, so characters with no powers who do nothing but stand around talking with each other hog a lot of the runtime.

And then cut to a scene with Will and Rick, or Debbie. But that might be a bit too on-the-nose.
