I don't understand how this date got picked up so heavily by movie fans. Until I saw the movie I figured it was some epic date they mention throughout the entire movie that is the meaning of life, death, and beyond.
Instead, it's mentioned in a throwaway line towards the beginning of the film once.
Now it's "Mean Girls" day and homosexuals on Cinemaphile are making threads? Seriously, what the frick? Most movies mention a random date, why the frick is this one special?
Mean Girls is mostly set in the Fall so this date is occurring in the "peak" of the film. The date is a focus point for the film in general. Cady is excited to talk with Aaron because of her crush with him. This forms a somewhat cultish worship of Oct 3rd, as this is another stepping stone in Cady's relationship development. Lastly, it's a very ethereal situation in a otherwise not movie. You're seeing a completely different movie during this scene. Again I knew this years ago and would watch Mean Girls solely around Oct 3rd.
