I liked the down the earth style the two first Antman movies had, no big save the planet plots that we had on other MCU movies, just saving you family or saving your friends legacy from the villains. Marvel really dropped the ball with 3 when they decided to make that movie about saving the whole quantum realm.

tl;dr there is an an ideological clique whose entire job is to make sure things are phrased VERY specificly when events don't work out for them on Wikipedia, same with places like Reddit. Alot of these people don't have jobs, they just spin narratives.

Nope, those useless humanities fields are currently in the process of drying up. Western governments are cutting the funding, nobody else will pay for useless garbage, and the schools that focus on it are getting record low applicants and/or going bankrupt.

            Nature is healing.

Didn't say all humanities are useless, said that all the useless humanities would be gone. There is value in social sciences and languages, despite the efforts of modern academia. And art has value but would benefit more from being in their own, focused schools rather than part of a "liberal arts education"

You used acronyms so much it destroyed your post's meaning, too. TLJ? The last jedi? TROS? The rise of Skywalker? I shouldn't have to look that up to see if the words match.

We justifiably hated the Force Awakens trilogy so much, that after the second movie, the fans stood back and let the Solo movie die. And Solo was a good movie. Force 1 and 2 were downright bad movies. 3 was OK.

I've seen some of those movies. And not one of them looks like it costs 200 MILLION dollars to make.
They should go back to the actual style of comic book movies, like Lou Ferrigno and Bill Bixby's Hulk, even if only for a few years.
I admit that Rami's Dr Strange and Spider Man 2, and 2011's Captain America were excellent, and those were in the 200 M bracket.

      Anonymous

There's one little detail I really liked about Captain America's movie. During the war bonds song montage a cymbal would ring out whenever Cap went to punch Hitler on stage. Later when he rescues the POWs and confronts Red Skull for the first time it plays the cymbal again right before he punches him in the face.
Every single post-Endgame MCU thing other than Raimi's Strange has completely lacked this kind of minute level of attention to detail.

I remember a post someone made once that said something like
        >I think I would like comic-book movies better if they were filmed in Italy for $100 and had titles like "Captain Marvel will throw you to your grave."
And looking at 1940s serials of Superman or The Lone Ranger, with men in cloth costumes, filmed in a house or the wilds outside of town, I find that I am more in agreement with this as time goes on. The studios need to return to creating movies with craftsmanship, not something that relies on three acts of special effects and a dance scene joke at the end.

This is what has me worried about the live-action/Legendary Gundam film. I've been saying on /m/ for years that it needs to lean into 60s/70s space opera and 80s sci-fi elements in order to not be a forgettable mess. Practical sets, on-location shoots, a concrete and focused sense of fashion and design for the costuming and locations, etc. If it looks like Elysium or even The Expanse then they fricked up.

Are you guys being obtuse on purpose? It's not making sequels to established franchises that is risky, it's making sequels to movies that flopped.

At its peak, Marvel would have made Eternals 2 even if Eternals underperformed both critically and commercially and tried to salvage the IP like they did with Thor. Now, they can't afford to take that chance, so no Eternals 2 at all.

Which is also an underperformance considering F8 did $1.2B, and most of it came from international markets.

Shang-Chi was still the second highest-grossing film of that year domestically, second only to Spider-Man: No Way Home, and that's enough to justify a sequel.
