He would've CG'd the cape but actually have a guy zipline off a building to create the base shot of Batman gliding. The shot of Lois Lane being carried by Superman after she was pushed off of the Lexcorp Tower Helipad in BVS was legit, they harnessed up a couple stunt actors and filmed the scene in Detroit.
The famous scene of Batman dropping off of the tower in the Dark Knight on the other hand was near full CGI. The only time they've completed Batman gliding as a full practical effect was for Batman Begins when Batman confronts Ra's at the Gotham Monorail.

I saw the fandom arguing about whether Bruce was "bawd shaming" Selina in that scene. It's pretty obvious that he's implying that Selina fricked Falcone in that scene, but I guess the kids don't want to believe that Batman could be a bit of a jealous creep. The movie isn't saying it's a good thing, but there's definitely a current of sexual possessiveness in Bruce's interactions with Selina.

I'm actually curious about Affleck's script. After seeing The Batman we agree that the script is the weakest part of the movie.Affleck directed The Town. A great action movie. With that in mind I wouldn't be surprised if Affleck's script is far superior to the one written by Matt Reeves.

That's a nice nod to the fans but that's all it was.
Dark Knight was closer to Long Halloween than The Batman was. Only connection between Year One and The Batman is short haired Selina and Falcone. Everything else takes after John's Earth One nonsense

                Anonymous

Batman going undercover as a criminal and roaming the streets on foot is from Year One, so is his crime journal. His initial confrontation with Selina is lifted from YO and LH. Selina's entire connection to Falcone is from YO and expanded upon in LH as it is in this film. Batman's raid on Falcone's penthouse happens off screen in YO, and onscreen in LH as it does in the film.
Batman escaping the police station echoes his escape from the SWAT in YO (although more explicitly recreated in Dark Knight).

                Morrison is a homosexual

Yes but he's an interesting homosexual. Quantum uncertain Batman is one of the last truly interesting additions to the character's mythology, and is the story Morrison has told from Arkham Asylum, through JLA, and ending with Final Crisis/Batman Reborn/Return of Bruce Wayne

Deadshot is cool when used sparingly. Deathstroke has a gay costume, gay eyepatch, is a pedo, and is a shitty character all around. ("I love money and am good with swords and talk in a scratchy voice")
He has no place as a Batman villain and is constantly shilled as one thanks to Arkham Origins (which shelved him 25% into the story)

                Anonymous

Deathstroke is supposed to be more of a Titans villain than a Batman villain and is way more interesting than than Floyd "I miss only sometimes" Lawton. He's simply the go-to tacticool-ninja merc that's autistic about his contracts. Many and virtually all live-action depictions of him does not do the character justice.

Lobo is hard because he's not a grounded character at all compared to someone like Deathstroke. He's a space alien biker that is purely immortal and regularly exchanges blows with Superman as a collective satire of many edgy superheroes of his time. So DC gave him a lesbian daughter, of course.

Opportunity cost matters. 770m is terrible for a Batman movie. Especially when you consider that they upcharged for tickets specifically for this movie, and the huge amount of inflation that occured during the last few years. It made less than half as much as the new Spiderman. And it made less than BVS which was considered a disaster. BVS didn't benefit from the ticket price inflation, the reviewers shilling for it, or a full cut that wasnt butchered by the studio.

This isn't as bad as people being upset that Pattinson isn't in the DCEU, but it still confuses me that people are upset about this. The Batman was two hours of pure kino followed by a nosedive into the most generic Nolan batman bullshit possible. A sequel could only bring more disappointment.

If anything, I would want a prequel so we get more broody emo detective kino where batman's primary weapon is fear.

The first hour was the peak of batman kino. TDK was cool but only because of Heath Ledger's performance.

Hamada wanted Patman to take over as DCEU Batman. Matt Reeves refused so we ended up getting Keaton. It's a clusterfrick of bad decisions leading up to where we are today. We really should have just got a Batfleck solo movie and be done with it.

I never watched it due to the really goofy looking Batman cowl and all the anti white male stuff in it.
