There's definitely something else going on with this movie. They made a $300 million movie that appeals to absolutely no one. This has to be a money laundering scheme or some kind of embezzlement scam.

My new theory is that Disney just has $500m/year in their budget for lucasfilm and give Kathleen complete leeway to use that money however and a combination of nepotism and hollywood accounting makes it really hard to prove that she's doing her job badly.

That may be it, but if it's a money laundering scheme couldn't they make a good movie? Why is it that it has to be a shit movie like basically everything they've made in the last 10 years or so?

if it's effectively a money laundering front then their only concern is churning out the lowest effort pos they can to maybe make a quick buck while they're at it, and get their ESG propaganda quotas in check too (also minimal effort all thing considered). they don't give a shit about the cultural legacy of this kind of stuff or about saving face because they:

        1. can manipulate public perception through bot farms and a large army of blind followers, the so called disney moms (not exclusively comprised of moms mind you, it's the terminology they use to make it seem less weird)

        2. are trying to broaden the appeal of their product so as to maximize profits in the long run.

it's not some grand conspiracy either. plain to see.

Because it's not money laundering, it's just a room temp IQ /misc/tard parroting the schitzophrenia from there. Disney self-finances movies now, you'd need outside investors to have money laundering. Which does happen, but it's usually shit grade movies like the stuff Bruce Willis has been pumping out.
This movie is expansive, because of the ungodly amount of post-processing they had to do on Ford. If they re-shot ANY of the flashback scenes, that's millions of dollars.

Use your brain for a moment. If you were trying to launder money, why would you do it with something that you're literally ASKING PEOPLE TO PAY ATTENTION TO? That's why real money laundering schemes use things like starting a new $100M five year housing development plan in Haiti only to deliver a little tin shack or selling a crappy painting for a ridiculous amount. Money launderers want their schemes to just blend in and be forgotten.

That's really not true. In China, the studio only nets 10¢ out of every dollar of ticket revenue, as opposed to a 40-60% cut in the West and the rest of Asia. They'd need to gross $1B in China to net $100M from it.

Furthermore, the average movie ticket price in China is about 42 yuan, or about $6 U.S., whereas the average ticket price in America is around $10.50. So each ticket sold in America nets Disney let say $4.20 if we're being conservative, while each ticket sold in China nets Disney only 60¢. That means they have to sell seven tickets in China for every ticket they sell in America to see a similar return.

If one in every four people in China buys a ticket, it still only nets Disney about $210M, and if even if they gross $500M in the rest of the world (for a net of say $200M), that still leaves them with a net of only $410M, which is shy of what they need to break even on a film with a budget of $300M because that's a pre-marketing figure: after marketing it could easily be double that or more.

Are the spoilers true ? Do the bitch save Indy at then end, and 'fix' him through time manipulation ?

      Anonymous

If that ending was true, then it got scrapped. The real ending supposedly has Indy travelling back in time to take control of his younger self and relive his life, with the female lead wearing his hat in the present day. Basically the same end result with less horrific execution. They want to replace him with her but everyone knows there's 0% chance of that ever happening

I would have preferred the fallout from the erasing Indy ending to this wet blanket of a movie.

The fact that things have gotten so bad that you have to add a few floors below ground level to accurately describe them doesn't mean that a 3/10 is now good. Hollywood shouldn't expect to recover just by returning to semi-professional levels. They need greatness, and that can't be provided by their diversity hires or by AI.

but those movies sucked ass though

and that's like saying men don't care for male-led action movies because 65 and the 2019 rambo flopped

no, because overwhelmingly, when you look at the market for action movies, its still overwhelmingly men and men go to watch other action movies. meanwhile you look at the market for female led action movies and neither men or women are watching them and they always flop. women do not give a shit about female led action movies.

This, also 'The emancipation of one Harley Quinn' aka 'Birds of Prey'was a disaster as well.

Hell, even female led 'comedies' like Ghostbusters 2016 was a massive failure.

Women like strong charismatic dudes in action flicks, and handsome guys in romantic flicks, 4th wave feminism will never change this.

It was also a trend for a long time that whenever they made a female super hero movie it ended up being legendarily bad

Except Marion, Elsa & Spalko were fucking awesome you brain damaged retard.

Hating Helena specifically, because she is a woke far left extremist self insert caricature does not fucking mean we have a problem with actual strong women.

Most of the people who dislike Rey & Reva liked or loved Leia, Jyn, Cara Dune, Ahsoka & Mara Jade.

Most of the people who dislike Captain Marcel & She-Hulk like or love Nebula, Wanda, Jessica Jones, Karen Page and more.

Woman are only interesed in in female led action if it's absolute slop or soapy, like Warrior Nun or Supergirl. They want sex and hot people, not punching and kicking and le intellectual protagonists, they feel like it talks down to them.

when Oceans 8 came out, I asked my mom if she wanted to see it, because Oceans 11 is one of her favorite movies. I told her Oceans 8 was O11 remade for a female audience and showed her the trailer. She watched it, scoffed, and said "This is supposed to be made for women? Then why'd they replace the cast full of handsome men with all these women I don't care about"

as much as feminist hollywood types like to think they speak for the general female audience when they push for these kinds of movies, they're really only speaking for themselves

Everything gets a standing ovation at Cannes, gotta celebrate le cinema.
The duration of the applause is generally seen as an indicator of what people thought. Anything under 10 minutes is considered a lukewarm reception at best, and Indiana Jones clocked in a meagre 6 minutes, putting it being such cinematic masterpieces like Clerks 2 and its 8 minutes.

Fire Walk With Me apparently got some applause but a lot of boos. It's one of those movies that's utterly hated when it comes out but slowly builds up a following over time.

Spielberg killed the American New Wave just to save himself and his kike pal Landis for illegally hiring kid actors and then decapitated them. It's about time that fuckhead got his comeuppance. Imagine all the kinos we would have got in the 80s if it wasn't for him doing that.

I'm more curious about what happened to Marion, she married Indy at the end of KotCS, but is apparently nowhere to be seen in this one. In KotCS I can understand killing off Indy's dad because Sean Connery didn't want to come back, but why kill Marion off screen when Karen Allen is still around? Did she read the script and go 'Fuck no!'?

Is it fair to say Bridger is the British female equivalent to Pauley Shore?

          >> Disney executive falls in love with them, thinks they're going to be huge stars and will be universally loved
          >> Gives them multiple movies to star in
          >> No one but a small demographic finds them funny or entertaining and they become infamously annoying more than anything.

The British government shut down the arts programs at what would be called public schools in the US, so the only kids who even have the opportunity to take drama in High School are rich kids going to private schools.

Every single British actor and actress younger than Jason Statham is a nepo baby.

Yes. Although almost every Star Wars project that gets announced gets canned, so statistically he probably would have been fired from the Star Wars project even if his Indiana Jones movie was a critical and commercial success.
