There's definitely something else going on with this movie. They made a $300 million movie that appeals to absolutely no one. This has to be a money laundering scheme or some kind of embezzlement scam.
My new theory is that Disney just has $500m/year in their budget for lucasfilm and give Kathleen complete leeway to use that money however and a combination of nepotism and hollywood accounting makes it really hard to prove that she's doing her job badly.
That may be it, but if it's a money laundering scheme couldn't they make a good movie? Why is it that it has to be a shit movie like basically everything they've made in the last 10 years or so?
if it's effectively a money laundering front then their only concern is churning out the lowest effort pos they can to maybe make a quick buck while they're at it, and get their ESG propaganda quotas in check too (also minimal effort all thing considered). they don't give a shit about the cultural legacy of this kind of stuff or about saving face because they:
1. can manipulate public perception through bot farms and a large army of blind followers, the so called disney moms (not exclusively comprised of moms mind you, it's the terminology they use to make it seem less weird)
2. are trying to broaden the appeal of their product so as to maximize profits in the long run.
it's not some grand conspiracy either. plain to see.
Because it's not money laundering, it's just a room temp IQ /misc/tard parroting the schitzophrenia from there. Disney self-finances movies now, you'd need outside investors to have money laundering. Which does happen, but it's usually shit grade movies like the stuff Bruce Willis has been pumping out.
This movie is expansive, because of the ungodly amount of post-processing they had to do on Ford. If they re-shot ANY of the flashback scenes, that's millions of dollars.
I think what it is is they just don’t realize people were perfectly happy and content before all the new social shenanigans. People are just tired of being beaten over the head.
The effects are apparently subpar too.
It could have been an ESG attempt to bury a male-led franchise because the woke mindset, being self-destructively devoid of creative power, attempts to destroy what it's incompetent to emulate.
It doesn't matter, ivy leagues are developing entire generations of woke indoctrinated CEOs and corporate leaders. Whether its ESG loans or just some Harvard grad ideological zealot making terrible decisions the result is the same. Disney is one of very few companies who can do this without that outside funding simply because they're too big to fail

No, shithead. Lucas owns the rights, all of them, in perpetuity. That's for production companies that don't own the rights, and only buy licenses. That's why Disney bought Marvel. They don't have to shit out movies about Iron Man to keep the film rights.

1 guy mentioned money laundering as a possibility and 30 anons corrected him. you're the only one still talking about money laundering
They want famous franchises to stay alive but with women in the lead, feels like the whole "beloved male character meets female that will be his successor" plot is being repeated more and more
Use your brain for a moment. If you were trying to launder money, why would you do it with something that you're literally ASKING PEOPLE TO PAY ATTENTION TO? That's why real money laundering schemes use things like starting a new $100M five year housing development plan in Haiti only to deliver a little tin shack or selling a crappy painting for a ridiculous amount. Money launderers want their schemes to just blend in and be forgotten.
Imagine if I were. Imagine if you were the one preventing people from understanding how you were doing it. Then in that imagination, would that you say to you (the real you) that they were in fact involved in something like that? Or would you (the fictional you) attempt instead to deflect by positing an elaborate and circular hypothesis that distracts the reader (the real you) from his original goal?
I really hope we get some more insider info like we did for TROS, where the entire plot was leaked months before it came out, or the 2016 Ghostbusters, I remember someone from one of the supporting effects studios anonymously spoiling and badmouthing the movie. Plus didn't season 8 of GoT get badly leaked?
Shit got too big for it's own good. There's three dozen suits analysing the numbers, and numbers say their product needs to contain several different things. They're on the obligatory to do list before the script is even finished. You end up with the pigslop we've been getting for the past ten years.
hasnt been a thing since the pandemic since they block pretty much every hollywood movie nowadays and the ones that do get through arent making the same as before
That's really not true. In China, the studio only nets 10¢ out of every dollar of ticket revenue, as opposed to a 40-60% cut in the West and the rest of Asia. They'd need to gross $1B in China to net $100M from it.
Furthermore, the average movie ticket price in China is about 42 yuan, or about $6 U.S., whereas the average ticket price in America is around $10.50. So each ticket sold in America nets Disney let say $4.20 if we're being conservative, while each ticket sold in China nets Disney only 60¢. That means they have to sell seven tickets in China for every ticket they sell in America to see a similar return.
If one in every four people in China buys a ticket, it still only nets Disney about $210M, and if even if they gross $500M in the rest of the world (for a net of say $200M), that still leaves them with a net of only $410M, which is shy of what they need to break even on a film with a budget of $300M because that's a pre-marketing figure: after marketing it could easily be double that or more.
it's likely they simply are so deluded to think they can just sell it for the brand only, the sequel trilogy proved that and executives are known for never learning from their mistakes, also I wouldn't be surprised if now that's getting trashed, they think they can pull a mario movie tactic by causing a conflict with the critics selling the movie for the fans only
What the fuck does he need all that money for? He's probably a billionaire by now, but that amount of money at age 80 is somehow gonna change his life? Should have done it for free.
Considering how much Ford seems to hate returning to his Iconic roles, returning to Star Wars in the condition they killed his Character, and probably only returning for a glorified Cameo to TROS out of respect for Carrie Fisher, I can believe it.

You are partially right. Its a scam, in the sense this was made for the foreign market. It most likely has a fraction of the budget and its made for indians and chinks that only know the brand Indiana Jones.
It can and will bomb domestically but the money overseas will more than make up for it.
>Why we were wrong about the new Indiana Jones and why you should go see it immediately
They're playing the long-game. Give it time for the initial outrage and disappointment, then come up with the big-brained defences just in time for wide release.
If they defended it like that from now then it would be too blatant.
Do people seriously believe that they will release a new star wars movie after this?
Lucas Art has spent like 4 years telling people that they had SW projects and none of them are alive, at this point they are even in a worse position than post WW84 DCEU
They will. They may just be waiting for people to forget how fucking awful the sequels and tv shows were.
The only thing they made that was good was Andor but that's probably because it was the least Star Wars thing Disney made. The fatigue for this IP is real.
If that ending was true, then it got scrapped. The real ending supposedly has Indy travelling back in time to take control of his younger self and relive his life, with the female lead wearing his hat in the present day. Basically the same end result with less horrific execution. They want to replace him with her but everyone knows there's 0% chance of that ever happening
The fact that things have gotten so bad that you have to add a few floors below ground level to accurately describe them doesn't mean that a 3/10 is now good. Hollywood shouldn't expect to recover just by returning to semi-professional levels. They need greatness, and that can't be provided by their diversity hires or by AI.
no, because overwhelmingly, when you look at the market for action movies, its still overwhelmingly men and men go to watch other action movies. meanwhile you look at the market for female led action movies and neither men or women are watching them and they always flop. women do not give a shit about female led action movies.
It was also a trend for a long time that whenever they made a female super hero movie it ended up being legendarily bad
(Supergirl, Elektra, Catwoman, etc...)

This, also 'The emancipation of one Harley Quinn' aka 'Birds of Prey'was a disaster as well.
Hell, even female led 'comedies' like Ghostbusters 2016 was a massive failure.
Women like strong charismatic dudes in action flicks, and handsome guys in romantic flicks, 4th wave feminism will never change this.
Woman are only interesed in in female led action if it's absolute slop or soapy, like Warrior Nun or Supergirl. They want sex and hot people, not punching and kicking and le intellectual protagonists, they feel like it talks down to them.

when Oceans 8 came out, I asked my mom if she wanted to see it, because Oceans 11 is one of her favorite movies. I told her Oceans 8 was O11 remade for a female audience and showed her the trailer. She watched it, scoffed, and said "This is supposed to be made for women? Then why'd they replace the cast full of handsome men with all these women I don't care about"
as much as feminist hollywood types like to think they speak for the general female audience when they push for these kinds of movies, they're really only speaking for themselves
Everything gets a standing ovation at Cannes, gotta celebrate le cinema.
The duration of the applause is generally seen as an indicator of what people thought. Anything under 10 minutes is considered a lukewarm reception at best, and Indiana Jones clocked in a meagre 6 minutes, putting it being such cinematic masterpieces like Clerks 2 and its 8 minutes.
Fire Walk With Me apparently got some applause but a lot of boos. It's one of those movies that's utterly hated when it comes out but slowly builds up a following over time.

Spielberg killed the American New Wave just to save himself and his kike pal Landis for illegally hiring kid actors and then decapitated them. It's about time that fuckhead got his comeuppance. Imagine all the kinos we would have got in the 80s if it wasn't for him doing that.
I'm more curious about what happened to Marion, she married Indy at the end of KotCS, but is apparently nowhere to be seen in this one. In KotCS I can understand killing off Indy's dad because Sean Connery didn't want to come back, but why kill Marion off screen when Karen Allen is still around? Did she read the script and go 'Fuck no!'?
She'd overshadow Wallace Bridges just being in the same scene with her, saying and doing nothing. Wallace Bridges is KK's self insert, like Rey, and nobody can be allowed to outshine her.
Is it fair to say Bridger is the British female equivalent to Pauley Shore?
>> Disney executive falls in love with them, thinks they're going to be huge stars and will be universally loved >> Gives them multiple movies to star in >> No one but a small demographic finds them funny or entertaining and they become infamously annoying more than anything.
Sure except Shore was the son of some nobody comedian and Phoebe is incredibly well connected with the aristocracy in a country with a publically owned broadcasting service
shit like that pisses me off so much, there's probably countless talented people that never even get a shot at an audition because these undeserving hacks just get stuff handed to them

They're playing the long-game. Give it time for the initial outrage and disappointment, then come up with the big-brained defences just in time for wide release.
If they defended it like that from now then it would be too blatant.
meds
No, they fucked up. Should have pulled out of Cannes and make a little more on the frontloaded opening weekend.
Or...Iger demanded it, and torpedoed Kenndy as a big "fuck you, cunt". That's the prevailing thought on social media and YT now.
Those people all said Mario destroyed Disney.
There is no Star Wars fatigue, they just literally refuse to give people and fans what they want.
I don't know how much forgetting there will be. I'm still made over TLJ, that was nearly 6 years ago now.
Andor wasn’t good either.
Are the spoilers true ? Do the bitch save Indy at then end, and 'fix' him through time manipulation ?
If that ending was true, then it got scrapped. The real ending supposedly has Indy travelling back in time to take control of his younger self and relive his life, with the female lead wearing his hat in the present day. Basically the same end result with less horrific execution. They want to replace him with her but everyone knows there's 0% chance of that ever happening
I would have preferred the fallout from the erasing Indy ending to this wet blanket of a movie.
>IS THAT A FEMALE PROTAGONIST IN "MY" FRANCHISE?
>I'M BEING GENOCIDED!!!!!!
Women themselves don't care for female-led action movies. The 355 and the Charlies Angels reboot were both massive flops
>The 355 and the Charlies Angels reboot were both massive flops
but those movies sucked ass though
and that's like saying men don't care for male-led action movies because 65 and the 2019 rambo flopped
no, because overwhelmingly, when you look at the market for action movies, its still overwhelmingly men and men go to watch other action movies. meanwhile you look at the market for female led action movies and neither men or women are watching them and they always flop. women do not give a shit about female led action movies.
It was also a trend for a long time that whenever they made a female super hero movie it ended up being legendarily bad
(Supergirl, Elektra, Catwoman, etc...)
>Is that a male protagonist in a 40 year old film?
>I'M BEING OPPRESSED!!!!
You'll have to imagine the obligatory pic of some ugly kike-beaked feminist.
dilate
>>IS THAT A FEMALE PROTAGONIST IN "MY" FRANCHISE?
>>I'M BEING GENOCIDED!!!!!!
Except Marion, Elsa & Spalko were fucking awesome you brain damaged retard.
Hating Helena specifically, because she is a woke far left extremist self insert caricature does not fucking mean we have a problem with actual strong women.
Most of the people who dislike Rey & Reva liked or loved Leia, Jyn, Cara Dune, Ahsoka & Mara Jade.
Most of the people who dislike Captain Marcel & She-Hulk like or love Nebula, Wanda, Jessica Jones, Karen Page and more.
I think they're all pretty lame except Marion and Leia
I’m nearly certain this is just a lazy stupid barefoot third world loser who absolutely lusts after (You)s from his superiors. It’s just such bad bait
ok chud
I thought it got a standing ovation
Everything gets a standing ovation at Cannes, gotta celebrate le cinema.
The duration of the applause is generally seen as an indicator of what people thought. Anything under 10 minutes is considered a lukewarm reception at best, and Indiana Jones clocked in a meagre 6 minutes, putting it being such cinematic masterpieces like Clerks 2 and its 8 minutes.
then why did Fire Walk With Me only get booed?
Fire Walk With Me apparently got some applause but a lot of boos. It's one of those movies that's utterly hated when it comes out but slowly builds up a following over time.
That was before the movie has started
Oh, so they were just applauding Ford?
Yes
The frogs in the theaters were complaining how fucking boring the movie was
Man, if even the French are complaining it's dull, then you know you're in trouble.
>some people were bored, other were bored too, but in french
No.
Harrison Ford got a standing ovation before the film for being old, and it was longer than the one afterwards.
Spileberg is american Jimmy Savile
Wait for him to die and you shall see
>It was good while it lasted
oooooooooooooooooof
Spielberg killed the American New Wave just to save himself and his kike pal Landis for illegally hiring kid actors and then decapitated them. It's about time that fuckhead got his comeuppance. Imagine all the kinos we would have got in the 80s if it wasn't for him doing that.
What happened to Mutt? He's not in this movie right?
He died on his way back to his home planet
He shot himself during bootcamp for the Vietnam war
>> Disney executive falls in love with them, thinks they're going to be huge stars and will be universally loved
>> Gives them multiple movies to star in
>> No one but a small demographic finds them funny or entertaining and they become infamously annoying more than anything.
Sure except Shore was the son of some nobody comedian and Phoebe is incredibly well connected with the aristocracy in a country with a publically owned broadcasting service
Between her and Abrams, nepotism is the biggest bitch in this entire situation.
shit like that pisses me off so much, there's probably countless talented people that never even get a shot at an audition because these undeserving hacks just get stuff handed to them
The British government shut down the arts programs at what would be called public schools in the US, so the only kids who even have the opportunity to take drama in High School are rich kids going to private schools.
Every single British actor and actress younger than Jason Statham is a nepo baby.
Corporate wokeness is just a polschizo conspiracy guys. Its not like every production in the last decade has promoted itself for its cultural progressivism, fighting toxic masculinity, promoting black empowerment, thats something you've simply been imagining in every show, game and movie thats come out in the last 10 years
>BBC: 'Gloomy and Depressing' final act
>The jokes, the zest and the exuberance just aren't there, so instead of a joyous send-off for our beloved hero, we get a depressing reminder of how much livelier his past adventures were.
2/5
This is a Indiana Jones film
should have ended with the crystal skull
>IGN score 4
Hohoho how fucking bad is this? A game that bricks your computer and takes a piss in your bed gets a 5
Indiana chuds.
And the Deadly Cunt.
It's NOT made you for, chud 🙂
Well it cant be thaaaat bad, I see it anyway to be sure
>siddhant adlakha
this muthafucka sounds like an ancient sumerian king or some shit haha crazy shit man ong
If Kathleen Kennedy isn't gone after this it proves she's got some serious life ruining dirt on multiple people.
Kathleen Kennedy knows where the bodies are buries so she can't be fired
she'll metoo bob iger on her way out
>Rating is out of 10
>One would then assume that 5 would be "average"
>Somehow between 4 and 5 you go from "bad" to "average"
Reviewers are retarded
Is anyone surprised after crystal skull and star wars and all the other flops? Hollywood is out of ideas.
CS is 15 years old.
And it's SHIT, mind it.
But seeing critics comparing it favorably reminds me the SW prequel-sequel situation.
>This thread
>"Movie bad"
>FUCKING POL U SCHIZOS
Maybe Disney just makes horrible movies
Right, NOW it's over, because it was looking really promising before this random review?
This is what happens when you only hire brown women.
Lol I just realized this is directed by James Mangold who was supposed to direct an upcoming Star Wars film, is that going to get canned too?
Yes. Although almost every Star Wars project that gets announced gets canned, so statistically he probably would have been fired from the Star Wars project even if his Indiana Jones movie was a critical and commercial success.
>Siddhant Adlakha
DONT UHWORRY DOCTA JONES! I’RR SAVE YOU!!!
