I've never even seen the Mummy but you can somehow tell he has a soul just by looking at him.
Something about his eyes makes him look like he's a genuinely good guy, somehow.

Brendan is the ultimate underdog. A guy who was in it all during the 90s/early 2000s who lost his family, money, career, physique. All he needs is one more role, something to bring him back into the spotlight. Sadly Batgirl just ain't it.
A few pretty good movies which put him on the path of becoming the next major movie star in Hollywood in the early 2000s, similar to Will Smith, Bruce Willis and others and all of it was cut short by his then wife destroying him using family court. So a lot of people who has been on a upward path similar to him (not in scale but direction) and was fricked over by the willful malevolence by another empathize with him. It's sort of a classic underdog story leaving people rooting for a redemption.

The Mummy was awesome.
He was also very good in Blast from the Past, Journey to the Center of the Earth, School Ties, and Bedazzled.
Under-rated actor IMO. He's just average enough and just good looking enough to do most any role needed.
