Original ending got removed, director lost editing control. Derek was supposed to be drawn back into the violence. I suspect the real message would've been about the insanity of southern California street gang life, but people say it would've been "pro nazi".

This ending does seem pro rascim that's what I don't get. Memes aside the movie was an anti racism movie then it just flips that on its head in the last 30 seconds. I still don't get what they were going for. Still kino though

What do you mean you don't get it? It's literally just what you said: pro racism.

I'll spell out the message of the movie: White supremacism is for depraved psychos, but egalitarianism is also stupid and naive. The message is that there is literally no way to win in this world. We simply live in Hell. It is a Hell inhabited by violent maniacs, and there is no escape for anyone, save death.

It could be but there's literally a scene in which the main protagonist gets raped by other white supremacists in the showers.

        That ending was never made.

Maybe, maybe not. But they definitely shot that mirror scene when he had hair, so it was post prison. I don't find it too insane that it's placement would've been there.

The original ending would have been more realistic. Also, Whites don’t do gay shit in prison like that. They shank or beat you down but you won’t get fricked in the ass lol. That’s Hollywood shit, Whites have a code of conduct in California prisons.

Funny how your mind wanders straight to that but ignores the overall point of the prison story being unrealistic.

      Broke: Blacks be nigs actually.
Woke: The consequences of prejudicial actions hold the prejudicial actors accountable, because the hate that is stirred comes from hate being just a word. And that goes both ways.
Bespoke: Violent is as violent does, and from hatred to kinship is a road that can't really be travelled without a swinging pendulum being frozen in swing by the stronger hand. One's gotta win, reasonable or not, they won't swing slower.

I read that the movie was supposed to originally end with Derek shaving his head. Something something about how we can't escape the "circle of violence", but Norton made them chamge it because he's a gay

This was Derek paying one final time for his "sins", I disagree with people who hate that Norton asked for the ending to be changed, it doesn't make sense for him to become racist again, it would be more likely for him to become an alcoholic and an hero than go back to how he was before.

I think him going back to his hateful ways makes perfect sense, as basically Derek's newfound optimism was utterly crushed due to his past catching up with him. As

Cycle of hatred, yada yada yada

        sums it up.

    >message of the story is the cycle of violence continues until somebody stops

    >older brother beats the thugs in a bet (even though they are playing dirty) and tells them to frick off
    >instead, they try to steal his shit
    >he catches them in the act and fricks them up

    >younger brother saves a kid being bullied
    >shows he isn't afraid of the bullies
    >gets shot by them
this cycle of violence is pretty lopsided to be fair

    Reminder

Correlation =/= causation. A black person isn't predisposed to violent crime because their genetically black, its because black people have been put in a situation where a culture developed promoting violent crime. A more accurate graph would show historically oppressed communities have higher rates of violent crime (regardless of race), it just so happens we only have a few big ones to point to in the USA. This is an important distinction because cultures are always changing. By acting like the race itself has anything to do with the violent tendencies it encourages an "us-vs-them" mentality which only causes misery for everyone.

For example, imagine a race of people who have been forced to live in undesirable neighborhoods that lack education funding, job opportunities, and fair law enforcement. Attempts to escape this setting through higher education, financial loans, or training are all shot down by other races not wanting to associate with you. Imagine the culture and anger that would arise from such a downtrodden community. Now imagine laws were passed banning this discrimination. How many generations do you think it would take for both sides to "forgive and forget" and build new, better, cultures?

Because this all happened to almost every black community in America. They've only been free from slavery for 157 years (about 5 generations) and free from legal discrimination for 58 years (less than 2 generations). And although a lot can happen in a few generations, a lack of proper education and continued illegal discrimination makes it significantly slower going.

This isn't to say you should feel safe walking through a high-crime poor black/hispanic community or anything. It's just pointing out you should hate the culture, not the people. The more people that do the faster the culture changes and the less crime will be encouraged.

        >It's just pointing out you should hate the culture, not the people.
except the people love the culture and shit on the traits that make a decent citizen like hard work, cooperation and social cohesion as "white people shit"

this is true. people indeed asked me if I joined or something but I always thought it was due to the way I dress. we have never tlked anything other than programming then he suddenly said we should move to this school because they have better training in programming or something and it's too fukcing faraway.
