God damn I can feel the braincells leaving my body just talking to you. The United States is explicitly a "capitalist" society because the founding documents clearly delineate the rights to private property.
You are not arguing against "capitalism", I mean not really. You are arguing against private ownership.

i'm arguing against the ability of the few/one to just buy everything and force everyone to rent. against the ability for one capitalistic entity to just own everything and establish fiefs. against monopolies, against capitalist entities controlling government.

but hey, you've been programed with the "all or none" false dichotomy. You've been told the market can regulate itself, by people who control the market and want more control. you actually believe there is nothing between a complete command economy and a completely "free" market where the rich control everything.

You're not saying anything. Private property is the foundation of capitalism, and it requires coercive monopoly of violence from a state to function. Capitalism probably peaked in the 90s and it's all downhill from here. You're going to be bled dry for the rest of your life

Le evil "capitalism" is not a form of governance by itself though. It is simply the state of the reality we live in, assuming you acknowledge private property rights. I said the US is based on capitalist principles, that being private property and the pursuit of happiness, etc. The current "system" you are b***hing and moaning about is called a representative democracy. The natural state of such organizations it to degrade into an oligarchy, but that is due to human nature not le evil capitalism's fault.

I don't think you're following me big guy. My "point" is that communists are fricking morons (and usually fat, if in a Western nation). Ideals, by their literal definition, can exist independently as a thought experiment. In reality they are obviously all based on the human condition as we are the sentiment observers. This is really getting lost in the weeds though and not really relevant to my actual point. We can argue degrees of separation until the cows come home

I completely understand the binary false dichotomy you believe. I am telling you it is wrong. I’m telling you a complete command economy is identical to a “completely free” market, as both are single entities controlling all aspects of society for their own gain/interests. That no system can regulate itself, which means governance and economic systems. That blaming “human nature” for the failures of a system created by humans is just contradicting yourself, unless you believe capitalism is magic.

But hey, this is all pretty high IQ stuff. You need to be able to map what happens, in a free market, when an entity has the resources to control said market. You need to be able to look at the trusts and understand why government needed to step in and break them up. Why competition needs to be maintained. Why there needs to be hard limits on lobbying and campaign contributions.

But hey, feel free to prove all of this is completely beyond you by regurgitating some basic dictionary definitions in response.

Re-read my post. Capitalism by itself is not a "system", it is simply an aspect of (most) humans upon which other systems can be based.

Nah, you’re just getting yourself confused. Poor ability to map/track concepts due to low IQ. I mean, I literally keep saying, over and over A SYSTEM CANNOT REGULATE ITSELF. Which, if you weren’t moronic, would clearly indicate that functional societies need a sharp divide between economic systems, systems of governance, law, etc. these divides have broken down in the west, and all power resides in money/economics, going so far as to grant first amendment protections to bribery (Supreme Court ruling on Citizens United vs the FEC 2010). Same as how, in Soviet Russia, all power resided in Stalin. Same as how all power in Ancient Rome resided in Caesar. When power is overly consolidated, collapse soon follows.

You're missing my point in the key differences between the two; the magna carta explicitly exists to protect the privileges of the peasantry (everybody not the king). The US explicitly grants rights to individuals with the spirit of "all men are created equal"

One of the first things you learn in high school civics is the declaration of independence is not an active legal document. It is often used to demonstrate the difference to moron children between its legal status and the US Constitution which is a 'living and active' legal document.

This is similar to how a israelite girl's poem about the statue of liberty is not, in fact, a legal doctrine.

I know what a living document is. See above, there are more differences in the "spirit of the text" that is relevant and carries over to the actual living document.

The Declaration of Independence is exactly what it says. A declarative document. It isn't not a legal document and does not provide a legal framework or guidance. The US constitution was not codified until 1791 which is also the official date the US Federal Government was designated and made the entity it is today. Befor that the states entered into a compact vie the Articles of Confederation which was scrapped after it proved ineffective.
The Delcaration of Independence was written before the United States of America was an official sovereign entity.

matter cannot infinitely grow just because you want it to. whether it represents an abstract concept doesn't change that.

            >Capitalism is not "infinite money" though
capital is money that makes money, by definition.
capital is invested, and expects to be returned interest.
it's something that should never exist.
tangible things have value, abstract value does not, even if if it's represented by "money" (metal coins or pieces of paper).
capital is debt by definition. "I invested X, therefore I am entitled to receive X+Y". debt is evil.

Funny how the only self professed "socialists" are exclusively coddled kids from high income western society's who wait piss off their parents with their poor life choices. I can't communicate because you have the same type of brain damage all socialists. To answer your question - resources are also resources (land, equipment, materials, etc). >A system with it's own interests cannot self regulate
Is extremely stupid thing to say. Obviously there are always outside influences. An anthill is a successful self interested self governing system. So are most nations.

                Anonymous

The ant-hill is regulated by the fact the ants don’t have the capacity for choice and there are hard limits to how large/complex the system can become due to the limits of ant physiology, geology, availability of resources, etc. These are natural external regulating factors.

What’s really happening here is you’re either espousing objectivism or we keep bumping against the limits of your low IQ.

Holy shit, it doesn't matter this is irrelevant to the actual point.
Let me state it even plainer so you can't twist things around again - your time has no value without other resources

You could’ve just said “time ain’t value if all you gots is time,” which is still irrelevant to the axiomatic nature of “value == time,” and the fact the value is, essentially, arbitrarily defined.

                Anonymous

                >ants don’t have the capacity for choice
Very bold assumption. Are we discussing the nature of free will now?
I have no interest arguing objectivism as this is largely irrelevant to physical reality. You can hem & haw all day about the "arbitrary" definitions but you still exist in this physical reality. You need resources which have value. Time & value are sides of the same coin due to the nature of reality, cannot exist independently. Saying that the ONLY value is time is extremely reductive

What defines the value of social connections? The time spent building them. What defines the value of land? The time spent flipping it at this point. What defines the value of equipment? The time spent inventing/manufacturing it vs its usefulness. What defines the value of materials? The time necessary to extract them.

It’s always time humans have spent at the core of every definition of value.

The “converse” of “time == value” would be “value == time,” which is just stating the same thing.
