ITT: Common changes made in adaptations

Ever since the 90s cartoon, every single retelling of Spider-Man's alien costume saga has it so that the symbiote radically changes Peter Parker's personality and makes him more agressive. But if you actually read the original stories, he acts completely normal, the only real difference is that the suit takes over Peter's body while he's sleeping without his knowledge. Peter doesn't get rid of the suit because it's making him agressive, but because he freaks out when he finds out that it's alive.
I'm not saying this is a bad thing, it's just interesting how every single adaptation (plus comic retellings like Ultimate) all change the story in the same way.

Tony Stark being Ultron's creator instead of Hank Pym has now become an accepted thing in other adaptations like cartoons and games because of the MCU.

Despite how recognizable they are, none of the live-action depictions of the Batcave have ever had the Giant Penny, the T-Rex, or the giant Joker card.
They've at least appeared in some cartoons and games, but rarely all 3 at once.

    It's a good change.
Another thing everyone takes from the 90s cartoon is that Eddie Brock is introduced before Venom. In the original comic, when Venom reveals his face, you have no fricking clue who this guy is and then he spouts his backstory at you. This is pretty dumb and much less compelling than every adaptation (yes even SM3) where they usually at least try to show Eddie's descent into villainy.

It's trash. Peter made a bad call, and overreacted. That's a very human thing to do, and his actions had very dangerous consequences. Making it so that the symbiote was evil all along (when it was just hungry) and making him a bad person is cheap.

You're trying way too hard to be a purist
The symbiote corrupting Peter feels natural cause it's a great callback to the theme of power and responsibility. The symbiote makes him more powerful, but also a worse person. In some way, it's a lesson for Peter to use what he already has rather than rely on a fancy power-up. In an adaptation, you can even spin that into a lesson of self-acceptance and being content with yourself, while Eddie is consumed by insecurity and feelings of inadequacy, which is why he becomes a roid freak AND Venom, it can also be a part of why he hates Spider-Man, since he can't see past the happy-go-lucky persona Peter puts on and feels jealous. It would also make Eddie's inevitable redemption more powerful since he's consciously resisting at least some of the symbiote's corruption

tl;dr the symbiote being a force of corruption has a ton of story potential

Spider-Man is Peter's happy-go-lucky persona, at least that's what people know him for.

It feels natural because "alien bad", "black is evil" is basic kiddie shit. You're removing all of the character of the symbiote and reducing it to some generic evil corruption force for Peter to overcome. It was pissed off that Peter rejected it and locked it up, and tried to bond with him fully by force. That was the one bad thing it did. When Peter decided he'd rather kill it and himself then bond the symbiote was shocked out of it's tantrum, and even saved his life. It would've shriveled up and died if it didn't feel Eddies emotions elsewhere in the church. THAT is a good story, that relationship has potential. That's love honestly; he even beat Venom the first time by apologizing and agreeing to take it back.

Basic shit is so ingrained in stories because it's effective. But if really want the symbiote to be complex so badly, you can make it not be evil and have its corruption simply be an inevitable side effect of its hunger, I'm pretty sure a lot of Venom comics have already gone that route.
            >That's love honestly; he even beat Venom the first time by apologizing and agreeing to take it back.
Pretty sure the first time they met Peter beat Venom by making him run out of web.

Doesn't help that Eddie Brock's reason for hating Spider-Man is fricking stupid. Why would he blame Spider-Man for losing his job and not the guy who falsely confessed to being the Sin-Eater? Or the real Sin-Eater? Or his boss?

Maybe because he's a bitter crazy person? He was already on a downward spiral ever since the Krobaa incident where he realized his hero was a loser and the entire journalism profession wasn't as honorable as he thought. He wanted to make it big, and thought he had a real shot with Sin-Eater. He got sloppy, and blamed someone else for his own failures. He didn't take responsibility (HINT HINT) for his actions.
