    Journey to Italy
    Il Sorpasso
    The Searchers

Il Sorpasso is fun but I don't think it's regarded as one of the goats. The Searchers is good but it gets overemphasized out of a lot of other equally-good Ford movies that don't get nearly the same level of attention despite being pretty much just as worthy of it. Never watched Journey to Italy.

Stalker is fun to watch and Vertigo can at a certain level be seen as a conventional thriller flick. And Persona is wankable.

Couldn't get into Vertigo, though ironically I really like De Palma's Body Double, which is pretty much an R-rated remake of Vertigo (along with Rear Window)

Body Double is Rear Window and Vertigo combined, Dressed to Kill is Psycho

Persona and Stalker are contemplative and abstract and rely on the viewer using their imagination to hypothesise about what's going on. Its not the film's fault you can't do that. Vertigo is alright, not Hitchwiener's best but not bad either.

Frenchshit is always rated highly for some reason, but most of it is actually really bad. I think it's just a residual effect of them being most willing to show breasts in their movies in the 70s when porn wasn't readily available.

      Anonymous

I was shocked when I saw breasts in a 1961 French joint, it was even joked about in the smug meta sense: the main character said "In movies, it is different" and covered the breasts with a sheet. What shocked me was the protoreddit sensibility, the movie's awareness of its own form.

    any Kurosawa film
    2001
    The Searchers
    The Seventh Seal
The Godfather Part 2 (Part 1 is SIGNIFICANTLY better)
    Stalker
    Battleship Potemkin
    motherfricking any Star Wars film
    >b-but muh Empire Strikes Back is good!
No it's not, it's dosghit slop like all the rest of it, it might be the single most overrated film I have ever seen. It's genuinely really bad and I'm baffled by just how many people consider it a masterpiece.

Oh yeah I'm too dumb for a series of dull fricking spaghetti westerns. You're totally not a moron homosexual who pretends to like Kurosawa because everyone says he's the goat.

This is only so highly-regarded because critics agreed upon its technical quality and camera shit. The actual movie itself is mindnumbing plotless drivel of rich homosexuals ambling around and doing nothing of particular interest.

I agree I found this film incredibly dull. That being said La Grande Illusion is legit one of the greatest films of all time. I went to see it in the cinema twice and I couldn't believe it isn't rated higher than this.
