When you actually look at all the biggest threads, it's mediocre normie shit, capeslop, disneyslop, ecelebs, and entertainment news nonsense that only women and gays like.
The Boys isn't even that bad. The ham-handed political angle is pretty unbearable but otherwise it's tastefully done gratuitous violence and action. Season 1 and 2 are kino but the rest are up for debate.

season 2 is absolutely not kino. they've been struggling hard with the pacing since 1. nothing is actually allowed to happen to upset their status quo. i didn't watch beyond 2 because it was pure sloppa already at that point.

It's pretty much that but the hitman stuff is a backdrop for insanely well-written character development. It is pretty much the whole "hitman with a heart" trope, but perfected. It is absolutely worth watching

To add to that, it's not as much a redemption arc kind of thing as much as it is a portrayal of the moral grey area you find while the MC does a balancing act between good and evil and it focuses on it

"Socks are Important" is one of the most intense 30 minutes ever put to television. Was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time.
The entire show was a masterclass in suspense. The ending as well
