I loved when Disney used to do these types of musical numbers.
Not really a song that halts the whole movie with like three refrains, more of an actual scene that pushes the plot forward but it's sung. This is how you do musicals imo
Disnay used to employ people who write music for musicals, but for Wish swaped them for pop lyrics writers.
So songs are now no longer part of a narrative, but stand alone pieces

It is alright. Not bad, not great. They played it too safe, which made it a bit too boring and predictable imo. The Facilier scenes are the best though.
This. Facilier is one of the most based Disney villains and the bayou/voodoo aesthetic is 11/10, but the movie drops off hard in the middle and becomes too predictable. The firefly character was also stupid as frick.
Yes, its a good movie overall. The first act is fantastic but like some other anon said when they go frog mode it becomes a by the numbers Disney affair, then picks back up a bit near the end.

The songs were very good.
Yes they race swapped the princess but this was actually an ok reimagining.
It wasn’t blacks in medieval Germany, it was a retelling of the tale in New Orleans.
Also Tiana was drawn attractive and her character was good.
