        >blockbuster fetishism is fricking disgusting
This. Le Blockbuster fridays XD were fun maybe half the time, if you were lucky. I don't know what people thought the store was like, but it was incredibly limited copies of the most normie shit of the day, and if they didn't have what you wanted you were shit out of luck. I think if someone actually made the investment to bring them back, people would either remember why they died in the first place, or lie and say somehow they were better back in the day and the new version is doing it wrong.

The same people here who are looking at memories of blockbuster with rose tinted glasses are also highly the same people who sped its demise by Pirating movies and games throughout the 00s

nothing like renting a game over the weekend and liking it so much you keep it past the expiration date only to get yelled at by your parents after they have to pay at the store. good times

In college my friend kept a movie from another state college town and lost it. Parents were mad and got threatened with a letter to pay the fine or get arrested. Hollywood video soon went out of business so it was dropped kek.

Hope and positivity. Emerging technologies. Improving industries. Computer gaming with massive leaps. Films with incredible new SFX. Everyone had good communication skills as nobody was raised on internet and mobile phones. Social media didn’t exists and meeting people took a bit more effort and planning. Talking to your best friend with the phone cord extended under your bedroom door so nobody knew you were doing it.

The modern bleak era is absolutely soulless compared to back then.

Romanticizing Blockbuster is just as weird as romanticizing something like say.... Whole Foods, Barnes and Nobles and Gamestop of today.

Weird consoomer shit. Had Blockbuster been in business for a few more years id guarantee half their floor space would be funko pops.

People went to blockbuster to rent movies and video games for the weekend, then had fun childhood memories during that weekend that involved those movies/games. They're romanticizing their childhood.

So it's not blockbuster then, you can still watch movies and play video games without blockbuster on the weekends todays.... well obviously minus being a child
