I think it didn't do as well because of a botched marketing campaign. people thought the title was live die repeat.

I did, but it didn’t matter. It’s honestly a better title (still not ans good ans All You Need is Kill) but it’s irrelevant as I don’t watch movies based on their title. It didn’t do well because all anybody cared about then was marvel slop.

            Anonymous

All You Need is Kill is idiotic as is almost everything about the manga. They were right to change the name for an adaptation.

              Anonymous

Not gonna argue, just an opinion. Like I said, it’s irrelevant. It had Tom Cruise, nobody needed to know the title. People weren’t showing up to theaters and just wandering around looking for Live Die Repeat and then going home confused.

                Anonymous

You'd be surprised, these things do make a huge difference and people do check show times before going to the theater. It didn't help that the director vehemently wanted live die repeat and made it the slogan on the posters and like twenty times the size of the title

Other way around. Edge of Tomorrow didn't test well as a title so they tried to rebrand it as "Live Die Repeat" in all the marketing material.

It only really underperformed in America and even then it made a solid $100 million when it was expected to make less than half of that.

it depends on how you see yourself for me it'd be a dignity thing but I wouldn't hate on you for making the decision

it's like Robert Pattinson doing batman after doing a bunch of arty farty type stuff he admitted the work wasn't worth paycheques and so he did a big Hollywood film to get paid

i think though you can have the best of both worlds do a big blockbuster but it still be a good meaningful film instead of some Disney schlock

like i don't hate the guy or anything and i think he's a decent actor he just wasted his prime doing marvel shit yeah he made that john wick knock off shit but that's just as bad

anyways for me if you just up front about it "hey i'm in it for the money I don't see myself as an artist" then i'd be like fair enough get that bag

it is what it is you can still do some shitty cape shit or hollywood block buster and put in a good performance and keep your dignity whilst getting paid it's just c**ts get addicted to that level of money suddenly they go from say 10 million net worth to 100 million net worth and to sustain this new lifestyle they can't just go back to doing smaller films

that's why robert pattison's next 2 movies are batman movies that's why theirs still like 3 avatar's in the pipeline that's why theirs been 10 million marvel movies and spin off movies and shows and shit

No actually, that's the best part of the movie. When powered skeletons become common place in realty, that's literally how they will look and function. Not the generic halo plastic plate armor they wear in the manga. And adding any further outer armor didn't make a difference anyway since the monsters tore threw it easily.

Yeah, exoskeleton will help you move great distances faster and without tiring, carry big loads and use large weapons. They're not there to be "armor".

You are thinking of Looper. Edge of Tomorrow is kino.

Looper makes zero sense at the very core principle of it and this has nothing to do with the time travel mechanics themselves but the motivation for using them. They can kill people without trace by... sending them back in time? They offered zero reason why they can't just incinerate them and blow the dust to the wind.

          Anonymous

For if there are "trackers" just get them deep underground in a lead structure and throw them into 5000 degree molten metal. If the trackers are so good they can transmit that far from underground there is zero reason why they wouldn't be transmitting al lthe time and that the last known location before last transmit wouldn't be checked.

Honestly Looper is one of those movies that's not great but still memorable, enjoyable, and cool. That scene where the guy from the future's trying to run away while they're mutilating his past body lives rent-free in my head.

they do incinerate them after they kill them in that massive furnace

Yeah but why do they need time travel for that? Just incinerate them in the future.

because they don't want to be connected to the crime you moron no wonder you think some dipshit movie like "live die repeat" is good and looper is bad because you couldn't grasp what is going on

              Anonymous

How can you be connected to a crime if there's no body, idiot? Literally what is the difference between pushing someone into an incinerator and pushing them into a time machine?

I didn't even mention Edge of Tomorrow by the way, obsessed moron. It's a mediocre movie.

                Anonymous

because pushing the man into the incinerator is in your time period so your dna is around the incinerator or the dna of the guy you paid to push people into the incinerator

you are connected to the scene

where as this is much cleaner he goes into time machine we don't know what happened to him after that... they don't know when or where he was sent back

what are they gunna convict you of forcing someone to go back in time?

frick you are dumb you could never be a criminal

                Anonymous

But the person you sent back in time exists in the past, too. Their DNA will be just as detectable in the incinerator (not very but w/e). You'd have to sen them back multiple generations to be actually undetectable.

                Anonymous

you can never completely erase your signature but if you send someone back 40 years and at the time you weren't even born they wont have a record of your dna on file

did you know that in western hospital's when a baby is born they take a blood sample of the baby so they have it's dna on file, they've been doing this since the 80's

anyways my point is even if you the crime boss at age 39 single handily puts the man to be killed in the time machine to be sent back 40 years with your dna all over him

when he is shot and put in the incinerator if the authorities suspect foul play

your dna wont exist in the system because you were born 1 year after your man was killed and thrown in the incinerator

If you have technology at the level of a time machine, then you have the technology to incinerate to the point of no DNA and the technology to hide any tracking signal (we have both of these technologies already).

      shit

No I am not kidding. I watched it recently. Was gonna post Man of Steel but everyone already has acknowledged that movie was kino. X-Men first class is another that's generally beloved. The Amazing Spider-Man series was killed because of a greedy studio. Many such cases.

This movie is what Avatar should've been. Mech men fighting alien monsters. With an interesting spin.

it was alright therefore one of the better movies of the decade. but when compared to past movies it's kinda no more than that

I fricking love this movie. I was like 11 or 12 when i watched it so maybe it resonated with my edgy teen phase

I fricking hate time-loop movies. It’s just just lazy, unoriginal sci-fi slop.

raimi mogged it too hard and the somewhat silly script of 2 was the final nail in the coffin

Tom had a few in the 00s and 10s that are criminally underrated. He might be a weirdo manlet but he makes the right moves in terms of which films to do. Also Vanilla Sky and Minority Report, let's not forget a shitload of MI films too.

This was a decent movie but it wasn't really anything special

        > it wasn't really anything special

How can you be connected to a crime if there's no body, idiot? Literally what is the difference between pushing someone into an incinerator and pushing them into a time machine?

I didn't even mention Edge of Tomorrow by the way, obsessed moron. It's a mediocre movie.

        >It's a mediocre movie.
we're not talking about top tier classic movies, ladies, we're talking about underrated movies and Edge of Tomorrow is definitely one of them.

i like how his films are surreptitiously Scientology flicks as well

they prob do because he's a scientologist, hey he lucked out in still looking 35 when he's 55, did you expect him to not have other flaws? (turbomanlet, scientology, probably gay or into some fricked up even worse sexual shit that he was talked into telling the CoS about and now can't untell them). he's just an actor, and a good one. I hope he leaves the CoS at some point and just tells everyone everything, straight up don't even care if it's some gay shit, he'll always be well regarded as an actor and a stuntman.

Oblivion is comfy. I liked the soundtrack, very atmospheric even though it does sound quite "stale" but it fits the movie very well. It was fun, didn't pretend to be some 2deep4u bullshit, Tom definitely had fun shooting it.
I remember watching it with my mom clearly, because this was the last movie we saw together before she was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer and died months later. Yeah, "Oblivion", funny that...

yeah I had a similar feeling about the movie, I really liked the atmosphere of the movie, the aesthetic was comfy, nothing felt overdone, the "twist" was not hackneyed or unrealistic. sorry to hear that about your mom, I haven't seen my mom in I guess about 6 years now but we aren't close. I actually envy you a bit, wish I had a mom I could watch kinos with.

I have never watched a kino with my mom, at least he got to have some happy times with her.
            >but it's not too late
please tell me you aren't thinking of saying anything as gay as that. the boomer generation is so far gone
I do envy that, it is better to have happy memories with them than just bad stuff. Did you grow up with true post-ww2 boomer parents?

A very shitty adaptation of "All you need is kill". It can be described in the following way:
    1. Pick a source material for your adaptation, preferably Nipponese for that extra autism edge.
    2. Americanize the names and events, cut out "problematic" stuff, sucking out the soul of the material in the process, turning it into another Marvel-esque goislop.
    3. Hire famous actors for your slopdaptation.
    4. Enjoy (?).

Why are the aliens called 'Mimics'? What are they mimicking? A hairball stuck in the sink? Also their design is meh, they don't look satisfying to fight or kill, should've been bugs or reptiles or robots.

Black Swan isn't exactly underrated, but it's not talked about as much as it should be.
Same with Frances Ha. Maybe they're a bit too high on the culture reference for a society more worried about which Avengers will defeat Dr Doom

Underrated in that nobody watched it. Massive marketing failure. Flipflopping between two shitty titles was unfathomably 'tarded. They should have come up with something less gay sounding than Edge of Tomorrow as the title.
