Man i can't believe there used to be people who didn't have their television as their girlfriend! I always watch my UPA influenced sci-fi kinos on my wife's projector visor when we snuggle

They're incredibly pointless when we have live action.

      I never understood this argument
Try making a show like The Simpsons, Family Guy or King of the Hill live action while also maintaining your suspension of disbelief, both with the types of situations the characters find themselves in as well as the scale/setting of said situations.

The reason why Japan has so much serious action anime is because it's cheaper to just make it a cartoon, whereas Americans can just film these shows in Canada or New Zealand.

It's called the 90s. US animation was at the top of the world and mogging even Japan. It went to shit because millennials/zoomers are evil and have no talent.

yep. check which thread is reaching bump limit all the time and you will see what animation became at the end

      >It's called the 90s
There weren't that many adult animated shows then either. Children/teenagers show like btas were really good though.
      >mogging even Japan.
lol no. Japan had so many kinos in the 90s that it's moronic to think they were being mogged.

Yes US animation used to be much better than it is now, but mogging Japan? What the frick are you smoking?

I'm so tired of all this dark and serious bullshit. Cartoons are meant to be fun like in the old days. Why can't we have more animated children's comedies?

Adult==Dark. Also my man you have thousands of animated children comedies . How are you not satisfied?

It just seems like every show that comes out these days is some kind of horror/sci-fi/action thing with a serious plot you have to have a degree in film or literature to understand. I really wish The Simpsons hadn't been cancelled so quickly. We could really use more shows like that for us normal adults who just want to laugh.

I wish my parents didn't always assume that I'm just watching some childish Batman comic adaptation. They're called "cartoons", dad.

Anon fantasy and sci-fi from the 80's and 90's died because the core audience for it either doesn't exist anymore or is deemed non-viable for modern advertising purposes. This isn't even an east vs west thing both nips and mutts now have to deal with cool shit not being made anymore because everything is inherently a statistical investment that cannot afford artistic liberties anymore.
Everything animated in America is effectively a sitcom because the majority of people who still appreciate western animation are millennials who grew up with 90's media in which the dominant genre was episodic amnesia content where nothing is learned or remembered, while zoomers are attracted like flies to shit with Isekai anime because virtually all modern prospects of a traditional lifestyle are virtually nonexistant so success is lived out through fantasies with elaborate stories because they don't want to acknowledge that they have no future worth investing in.
Neither qualify as true fantasy or sci-fi as both are effectively character dramas with skins plastered on to look like the real deal, none try to advance or explore provoking or interesting ideas.
Everything Leiji tried to warn us about is coming to pass.
    >Morally devoid and corrupt society where the individual is demoralized and the mindless whole encouraged
    >Military industrial complex a tool of an increasingly tyrannical and corrupt police state
    >People more concerned about fictional media then the lives of their fellow man
    >Idealists and activists are labeled as terrorists by the state and have actual grassroots movements astroturfed to promote propaganda
    >Political elite only concerned with safeguarding power and not protecting the people who give it to them willingly
Only thing he he didn't get right was plant paper alien women invading earth, but who knows weird things have been happening recently in the news so who knows.

I get your point but I just chose that image because most of 90s-00s adult anime directors cite the old SBY as their inspiration. Also because it looks cool.

What do people have against sitcoms? I like them.

The problem with adult animated sitcoms is that they're run by failed writers who think that people should laugh only at their "clever" words and not goofy things happening on screen.
