I've been going through all the awards darlings of last year. I absolutely loved EEAAO, Banshees, Triangle of Sadness, but this was a masterpiece. I have never identified with a character on screen more than I have with Callum. An absolute tragic masterpiece.
I cried really hard
Agreed re: Aftersun. I honestly have never been so affected by a movie as I was during the last five minutes of that. It's weird bc it really sneaks up on you.

I had a feeling he was going to kill himself, but the way they tell you without telling you it's masterful. When the camera pans around and he walks through that door the tears were instant. The spicy was absolutely beautiful as well

My local was playing a bunch of Oscar films last week and I went to see Tar, Aftersun, EEAAO and Elvis, and Aftersun has really stuck with me since then. The whole time I had a niggling sense of dread but it wasn't until Under Pressure started playing that I realised why and started tearing up, a couple of other people in the theater did too. It's an incredible movie, especially considering it's an indie film. I knew Paul Mescal wasn't going to win Best Actor and I hope he's happy just to be nominated, his performance was incredible. Honestly Frankie Corio deserved a supporting actress nomination too.

20 minutes i thought it was going to be one of those slow movies where nothing happens that people find it to be a perfect movie. But i continue watching it distracted, when it ended i started tearing up. That's rough, on par with You Were Never Really Here, which plays similar themes in somewhat similar manner.

Very cool movie, I saw a trailer for it on a blu ray for (I think) The Commuter and figured it would be a similar action thriller so I bought it and gave it a go, boy was I wrong about that.
