No if you beat them in a battle of wills you lock them in the astral plain while their body rots as a vegetable. Like what happened to Storm's old boss.
GodDAMN I am so tired of the fricking Shadow King. Can't they just kill this fricker off? They've killed far better hero characters, but it seems villains never die. Is that on purpose, to impose a sense of "we need everyone, our enemies grow more numerous by the day"?

No. Shadow king will be the next villain the X-Books redeem.
In Nate's case, he can telepathically connect to people in other dimensions. Connecting to everyone on the planet Earth at once is nothing, but between dimensions is something I think only he's done.
in Cable and Deadpool, there was a point where Cable telepathically told everyone on earth that mutants mean no harm, that he was going to control a floating island over the pacific (like, castle in the sky shit), and that it should not be attacked.
so then Reed Richards sicced the Silver Surfer on Cable for no good fricking reason, which also would have been against Silver Surfer's morals. Cable was able to break Silver Surfer's board. Even though Silver Surfer can just make another board like it's nothing, it still seemed badass and i've never heard of anyone else ever breaking his board

I've been reading X-men comics for over twenty-five years and I have no idea what X-Man (Nate Grey)'s powers are.
what always pissed me off is dark beast was an antagonist, but never utilized well, and nate never really took the initiative to deal with dark beast in any productive way, whether it be to read his mind or forcibly change dark beast's worldview to be less evil. there was a lot of potential for dark beast and x-man to work together by going to Apocalypse's safehouses and destroying them or taking the technology for their own purposes, but the x-man run didn't really have much of an impact that i can remember
New Sun is Gambit without the brain surgery Sinister did on him.
That was a great run and some of the best writing Gambit ever had, but the omega mutant nonsense that Nicieza started has been detrimental to x books I feel putting too much emphasis on god level mutants.
I've read about people wanting elements of New Sun adapted into X Men 97 so Gambit can be an omega mutant. People want their favorites to have power creep and big feats. It's such a central part of stories with Storm or Iceman.

After I watched this scene, I wondered, could Gambit touch the earth and charge it to explode? It took him a minute to fully charge the Sentinel, so I imagine it would take years to fully charge the planet... but could he?
I think he'd die due to the effort. He's said he needs time to charge big stuff, so he'd have to be constantly releasing energy into the planet. When he blew up the big sentinel, he knew he was gonna die anyway.
If he did a trickle charge he'd be ok. Like if he went hermit, and was charging his cabin and the ground around it in a 3 mile radius for when he was found, and had been doing it over the course of 5 years by walking around barefoot all the time...Gambit's frickin' broken and writers are too stupid and unimaginative to take advantage. He could ditch the boring playing cards gambler motif and LITERALLY throw hadokens by thrusting his hands to wards something and charging the air particles (microscopic, charge instantly) that move in the direction of his hands' thrust.
Nate as complete psionic mastery. If it has psi in the name then it's also his game. As expected of an omega he has no ceiling but Nate also has a big baseline too making him more notable than "potential" omega characters that can be plot armoured into relevance.
There's an entire arc about that. Gambit is one of the "potential" characters I was talking about above. Same with most X-men really so long as you take their premise and drag it out to its logical limit.
There is always gonna be a limit for some mutants with specific powers. Gambit's one of those who can charge anything, with the only limitation being his own endurance.
Gambit can't normally go that far, so of course there are alternate selves in other universes where Gambit grew to be that powerful yes.
This he could if he did not get partial lobotomy to decrease his powers.

He doesn't use his own energy, he uses the energy within other molecules not his own.
His power set is the cool glowing eye signature that was at first a tell for who his parents were but became basically THE coolest power signature in comics and erreyone had to have it.
He's basically got basic b***h telepathy + telekinesis + Cyclopse ability to tap into dimensions to pull power from it.
Cable without the T.O. Virus holding him back.
What are Cable's powers again?
He shoots big guns.
Complete psychic mastery and extreme power.
Glowing eye
Technoviral load
same set as his mother -- telepathy and telekinesis
telepathy and tk but 10 times stronger than mommy's
>stronger than the established strongest
Of course it is. How do you draw "stronger" telepathy? Does Nate just explode every head he connects to?
Telekinesis is measured in how much weight can be moved and telepathy in how many minds can be changed touched.
That's it.

He has Cyclop as father
So his mutant power is nepotism?
Basically
Gambits powers are just as confusing
He turns potential energy into kinetic, which can either explode or use it to boost himself. It's not Gambit's fault you failed physics, anon.
In the Gambit run he is shown be able to be made of electricity
thats the New Sun, an alternate reality Gambit with way higher energy level powers
Fricking Casual
Casuals know New Sun?

They know the power is broken which is why the introduced the "Mr. Sinister surgically limited Gambit's control over his mutation" plot point
