No, Holy Grail is better because it doesn't *need* conventional narrative structure but instead creates its own structure that serves the comedy and keeps the spectator interested without having to have conventional structure.

People who say what you're saying forget that narrative structure isn't an end in itself but the means to an end. Holy Grail reaches that end through its own ways and that makes it all the more brilliant.

Sir Lancelot receiving a rescue letter, assuming it's from a beautiful princess who's being held captive, showing up to the wedding party, violently murdering guests, breaking into the highest tower, slaying castle guards, but abruptly realizing he's rescuing a diseased, homosexual prince instead. The King barges in, demands to know what's going on, the prince whines "He's come to rescue me, father!" and Sir Lancelot quickly answers "Ah well, now., let's not jump to conclusions".

The exact opposite is the case. As my intelligent, well-adjusted, sex-having friends and I came to realize during college, one of the best litmus tests for a human being, one of the quickest and most accurate ways to get a sense of a person, is to find out whether they get the film or not, whether they find it funny. If they don't, they are truly filtered, truly inferior beings. And taking Cinemaphile posts at face value, a large cohort of effeminite phoneposting gen-zs, terrified of being called "reddit" for liking things, just don't get it at all. Which sounds about right.

    >the slightly off-tempo hand-clapping of the prisoner during the Round Table song
    >the witch says "it's a fair cop" meaning that she acknowledges that the absurd process by which she was judged to be a witch is valid, which only heightens the comedy
    >anarchists are depicted as the irrelevant bottom-feeding scum that they are
    >the woman flinging a cat against a pole like it's a normal piece of housework that she's doing
    >Intermission
    >no STAY HERE, and MAKE SURE HE doesn't leave
    >STOP SINGING, STOP IT

I giggled just writing the above. Funniest movie ever on god. Twice as good as Brian. If you want real "boing zoom" reddit humor, look at the non-sequitur scene where Brian rides along Star Wars style with some random xD aliens for a minute or two.

This is the most psychotic thing I've heard all day. You are willing to judge an entire person based on whether or not they like a british comedy almost 50 years ago. This is a comment made by someone who probably surrounds himself with boring milquetoast people who all like the same thing and are afraid to disagree with each other,
