Jesus christ the last 2 season were inherintly bad
I HATED the new character they introduced
Had to watch season 1 again and man the art style is shit compared to the later seasons but boy it was actually funny

I seriously don't know what they were thinking with introducing a new character, they were probably trying to fill Mallory's shoes, but they could have done so much better than someone that insufferable.
No idea probably going "woke" and they wanted a self insert into the show
But i hate her so much
unironically just headcanon that archer didn't do the fricktarded switch at the end of season 7 and it's a perfectly fine ending, with 8 a nice standalone thing
or alternatively when he woke up from the coma works too at the end of season 10
their plan was to switch the dynamic so she was the new archer and archer dealt with getting old, but they got canceled the season they laid the groundwork for it
it was a bad idea but at least I get the intention, lets be honest like TPB without dunsworth they were fricked without jessice walter. her character was too important to fully replace
They had a 3 season arc for her but they didn't get renewed
Everything after the first coma season is straight up unwatchable. The writing feels like it belongs in a shitty 2012 youtube skit. It was already eating itself before that but post-Dreamland was the drop-off where it became abundantly clear that whoever remained of the original makers were totally creatively spent. I can't imagine what type of person is still watching at this point.
Personally i liked the 3 coma seasons they were a fun enjoyable contained story
But season 13/14 were so fricking shit
The coma seasons don't work as they as the characters become different characters. Those seasons rest on what came before however, that foundation isn't really there as all the character personalities and relationship dynamics are reset and keep getting reset.
It is just a show that went on way too long. There is logic behind Vice, being private investigators and the coma seasons of trying to keep it fresh but, money reasons aside, in such a situation the better creative thing to do is just wrap it up rather than try to extend what you recognise is becoming a stale idea. Turning them back to spies falls flat as too much has happened to possibly recapture S1-4 and besides the jokes have just become stale.
>The coma seasons don't work as they as the characters become different characters
thats exactly why they work its 3 different "dreams"
It wants to have its cake and eat it. The dream versions work off what the audiences knows & fells about the 'real' versions, yet at the same time also wants them to be completely different characters.
anon do you now know what a dream is
Coma seasons are comfy
True
Archer ended when he woke up from his coma, full stop.
The first post-coma season where everyone is doing better with their lives and Archer slowly drags them back down to status quo ante was pretty funny. Had no idea they kept going after that, felt like a perfect end to the show that was running on fumes anyway.
Of the coma seasons, Dreamland sucked absolute ass, I don't think I laughed once. Island adventure had a few good jokes like the cannibals being dicks. The space season was pretty much only good for trying to catch all the references.
This shit is still on tv?
They dragged it out but I think it's finally over.
Something about the pacing in the space one felt off.
>pacing in the space one
Yeah true
I'll always cherish the earlier seasons
Real comfort stuff if i want to have a good time
female john oliver was alright
theres a 1.5h movie at the end of season 14 btw
is it released yet?
yeah on hulu or other streaming sites but not netflix i think
Once the show gave me Pam on cocaine I stopped watching. Felt like I had seen it's highest point.
Do yourself a favor and watch season 14 episode 3 if you got the balls
Why that specific episode? I looked up the plot of it and what makes it special? Is it just the worst one of all or something?
It's when the new character gets introduced and is basically tine main character of the episode
Just try to punch something else than your tv
Oh that's disappointing. I thought maybe cocaine Pam came back.
There's a throwaway sentence about it but no
We're not getting her back
The joke with cocaine Pam loving cocaine got old fast. They should've gone with everyone wanting to frick her instead. Would've given everyone something to bond over. Also might've been funny to have her mog Lana.
Anyway, here's island adventure Pam.
im disappointed we never got a point and click monkey island style archer game
the comic look fits extremely well
new character feels like a writers self insert, so bad
literal mary sue and ofc better in everything than archer, offers absolutely nothing new in the team
Yup
The purest example of taking something people liked, putting a chick in it, and making it lame and gay.
archer vice was a good season and gets a bad wrap
season 7 is uneven but overall also good outside the coma twist in retrospect
I liked it
>bad wrap
it’s rap, comes from reputation. confusing I know
It's still ongoing?
Seasons 1-3 were top tier and peak of the Series.
Season 4 started dropping the ball with overuse of the same jokes and beginning to flanderize the characters.
Season 5 felt like the creators fanfic of Miami Vice with his characters and was full of unfunny jokes that overstayed their welcome(Pam's drug addiction, Cheryl being a country singer) and honestly should have been a coma season.
Season 6 was better than 4 and 5, returning somewhat back to the normal espionage format and having better animation budget.
Season 7 had an alright concept with the private detective agency but could have been better if there were more isolated episodes instead of following a longer story arc.
Seasons 8,9,and 10 were the coma seasons and honestly weren't terrible and let the creator have fun with the characters in creative ways without screwing with the Spy Agency format like Vice did.
11 was a nice return to form and seeing Archer handicapped with a cane was nice.
I can't comment much on the last 3 seasons as I only watched through them once. I can only say I remembered disliking them and not even finishing the final season or watching the shows conclusion because that new character was so fricking annoying.
I will forever enjoy those first 3 seasons. I can put on any episode from any of them and have a great time with all the jokes.
>remember *funny joke from six seasons ago*????
the show
Just watch s1 and stop
>Just watch s1 and stop
dont the graphical style evolves a lot after the 1st season
the coma seasons weren’t completely irredeemable but it was obvious at that point the show was no longer a comedy, the coma seasons are simply not funny. they can still be well-written and inventive but they are not funny, and personally for me not entertaining
