Well since HotD pretty much did do that, with it being generally loved by fans and critics AND had a huge audience rivaling GoT's best days, it's pretty clear you're wrong.

          Anonymous

You either don't know what the glory days were like or are conflating a decent success with glory days.
HotD not shitting the bed might be a borderline miracle after the uphill battle S8 left it with, but the IP itself is still in troubled waters due to Martin being a lazy c**t

What the frick are you on about? Numbers don't lie and you can google them out if you want to.

            >The day after the series premiere, HBO said the episode had been viewed by an estimated 9.99 million viewers in the U.S. on its first night of availability – including linear viewers and streams on HBO Max – which it said was the largest single-day viewership for a series debut in the service's history, dethroning Euphoria.

            >The finale of the first season was watched by 9.3 million viewers across all platforms during its premiere night according to HBO, which was the highest viewership for any finale of a HBO show since the series finale of Game of Thrones. The show averaged 9–9.5 million viewers for an episode on premiere night and 29 million total viewers after a week of release.

This AND the audience and critic opinions are what matters to HBO and they were very good all and all. So if one claims that the Jon Snow show was dependent on HotD's success then what gives exactly? So yea it obviously was not.

Also Martin being lazy c**t has nothing to do with HotD, which has it's story already written to the end and it wouldn't have had anything to do with the hypothetical Snow-show that would have followed GoT cannon not book cannon anyway.

I didn't you moron. I said that if you imply that Jon Snow spinoff was dependent on HotD's success, and it turned out to BE A SUCCESS if you look at viewership and critic and audience opinions then how come the Snow spinoff was canned then? Does not exactly fit this logic no does it?

HotD is alright but it's definitely not reigniting the same glory days and hype of early GoT. GoT became the internet's baby around S3-S4. HotD is generally considered to just be a competent TV drama and that's it.

        >Avenge Dany
        Cinemaphile Dany is evil
        > In the books, Daenerys shows horrified despair when Viserys draws steel in Vaes Dothrak, knowing that her brother has sentenced himself to death. She also pleads with Viserys for a reconciliation. In the show, her reaction to his execution is dispassionate. In the books, it's evident Daenerys still loved her brother, despite his abusive behavior toward her, and remembers him with guilt. She acknowledges his faults but also how he took care of her in their early years together until he snapped under the strain of their exile and difficult life. On the show, when she reminisces on her recently-departed sibling, it is without a hint of fondness and is instead dripping with scorn or derision.
        > In the books, Daenerys does not lock Xaro and Doreah in a vault to die. Xaro is still alive as of A Dance with Dragons, whereas Doreah perished from a wasting illness while Dany's khalasar were forced to wander the Red Waste.
        > In the books, Daenerys doesn't threaten to burn cities, nor does she feed a noble to her dragons to send a message in response to Barristan's death at the hands of the Harpy. Barristan is still alive in the books, for one thing, but Dany is also horrified at the idea of her dragons eating anyone.

Real talk right move is not to make it. But assuming they made the wrong move and did the show, there are good ways to do an epilogue series focused on one character. And that is a smaller character development-focused story. The villain should be his internal demons and regrets, in combination with the elements. Action set pieces should be very sparce.

even without dragons it would have been an extremely expensive show to film considering his ending was "'I'm going to live beyond the wall"
It means dragging all the actors back to iceland and filming in grim conditions, Harrington probably wanted a big paycheck to freeze his balls off for months at a time again and all for a show that might not even be hit.

All they had to do was just take their time and develop the story more. If they didn't shorten the last few seasons, I bet the finale wouldn't have been so universally panned and maybe we'd be looking at it completely differently. Just felt like they rushed everything. Come to think of it though, DandD retconned Jamie hardcore and made him a Cersei simp, even though his character arc was a great story of redemption.

is it really a radical opinion to want a GoT sequel rather than another prequel?

  25. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

They could easily make a sequel show by ramping up the magic they cut from the books. The inciting incident could be Marwyn arriving at the Wall, getting kicked out of the Citadel and being 'rescued' by Grand Maester Samwell who sends him to Jon, along with Alleras and Lazy Leo. Introduce a fAegon plot and allow them to frick with the rest of Westeros with a glass candle and you've got a basic premise and that's just all I could think up in like what, 30 seconds?
