Personally thought the pacing was just kind of bad. It's the Mr. Frog episode but with a focal character whose joke feels a lot more repetitive, and it doesn't have a B plot to break things up so the whole thing just kind of drags on in an unpleasant way. I think I dislike
more for being an unfocused mess with a shitty on the nose client and an unsatisfying ending, but President is still in my bottom three for the series.
Season 2 feels less consistent to me but I absolutely love a few of the episodes Gwimbly, Alien, and now Spamtopia

Wasn't expecting a Charlie and Allan episode, but I'm very thankful we got that.
It was inevitable. Allan is only 1 of 4 actual core cast members, not counting Glep who is mostly reserved for a quick sight gag.
It may have taken a couple years, but it was still worth it.
I'm still looking forward to more Allan episodes, personally. He's a strong enough character that you can mix him into most combos.

It's really funny looking back at old Simpsons discussions and seeing people claim the show was going to shit as early as Season 4, and even in the midst of what most would consider to be the Simpson's Golden Age.

I feel like the reason why the show doesn't click with some people is that Zach tries really hard to make his world like the next Springfield, tons of characters you expect to be one-offs often get cameos or recently an entire plot dedicated to them. It is kind of unexpected but only the future will see.

I don't see it. Simpsons had a very well established supporting cast early on, it's pretty obvious from just two seasons that Smiling Friends only really cares about its primary 5 characters. I doubt we'll get a B plot focusing on DJ Spitz or Satan, let along something like Much Apu About Nothing or Flaming Moe's with an A plot that hinges on a secondary character that was established in a prior episode. The closest we've gotten so far was Mr. Frog showing up in the presidential race, but he was hardly a linchpin to the core plot and really only got used because he was a convenient and already established stand-in for a celebrity president. It was more of a glorified cameo than anything (though I hope we get more glimpses of President Frog in the future.)

I genuinely think season two's been about on par with season one and the reason people are more negative on this one is because, unlike season one, we've had to wait a week for each ten-minute episode, and so people build their expectations too high.
I also think it doesn't help that Adult Swim's promos give away about a third of each episode before they even air, so lots of gags don't have the same impact.
Next season I'm just going to avoid any promos surrounding the show. I feel like I would have liked Allan's episode more if the escalation was more of a surprise.
I'm glad that at least Spamtopia wasn't spoiled.
Yeah the Allen episode was probably the worst affected by the marketing, the mini Boss end gag being spoilt in the S2 trailer was really disappointing

Not really, there are plenty of people expressing disappointment in the series that feels genuine. It's only that IC is literally incapable of moderating himself even slightly. Even when he attempts to feign dispassion, he inevitably uses language too strong to genuinely convince anyone. His posts reek of self hatred and bitterness, and it's very easy to recognize his posting style even with only minimal exposure.
