It makes me wonder, are there any recent sci-fi movies that combine those futuristic sterile-looking touch screens, Apple aesthetic with the tactile look of the older movies? like the movie went out of their way showing those touch screens like something that people use with plausible UI, wear and tear finger marks, stuff strewn around everywhere around the workstation and shit? I know BR2049 kinda did it but it's pretty much stuff lifted from the OG movie with the retrofuturism look anyway so it doesn't count kinda.

There were a few stupid hologram moments, but for the most part it all felt very grounded and very real.

Nick had the couple of switches and knobs at the Ingen facility scene. And Roland with the dart rifle with the jungle drum music playing was great, even if the rex spotting him was really goofy.

My old work used to have that type of old fashioned switchboard and it was the most satisfying shit. Just pushing the the buttons and the 'click/clunk' of the machinery. Really got the old autism neurons firing.

Bros I recently installed a ceiling fan in my house and I’m pretty sure I turned off the right breakers. Anyway when I finished installing the fan it wouldn’t work only for me to later discover because the power junction I installed the fan into used a different light switch than I thought, and that light switch wasn’t actually a light switch it just had a blank plate on it. Anyway, when I took off the plate and went to install a light switch for it the white wires were nutted together and the black wires were separate with no copper exposed and were completely insulated, and then I realized that got me thinking that maybe I didn’t turn off the right circuit at the breaker because that light switch was right next to all my kitchen light switches and not my living room ones. Anyway, was did I almost die? Was the only reason I didn’t get shocked and fall off my ladder and break my neck (mind you this is a high vaulted ceiling) because I did in fact turn off the right breaker?

Could be a bunch of reasons, touching an exposed wire doesn't always = death.

You need to be extremely unlucky to die from touching a wire in your house

    >shoot the entire film on location on one of the most naturally beautiful islands on the planet
    >all the filming locations are within 20-30 minutes of one of the nicest hotels on the planet(where all the actors are staying)

And everyone wonders why modern films are failing while they shoot everything on a shitty greenscreen in a shitty city and send it all to the shittiest country on the planet for post production.

Yup. This is a good example:

      what do you think

Top pic: careful planning from both set designer, prop department, art department, actual real physical items the actors can react to
Bottom pic: large empty room full of green screens actors have to look at and react to and imagine what’s on the screen.

Gotta keep pushing those margins. Gradually condition consoomers to accept worse products for higher prices.
Mobile phones are large and have shit battery life because the lack of R&D, not the demand for big ass phones.
