He’d need to eat more than that, that’s a fairly small amount of McDonald’s for an average superhero I’d say?

Those look like neutral grip pull ups to me OP. You should lurk on Cinemaphile for a while to gather more info, and then make pretty much this exact same thread with minor additions and adjustments. I won't say anything.

When I was a boy I could do chinups all day, now I'm a man I struggle with 3.

Ever tried greasing the groove? The idea is that, multiple times per day, you do chin-ups or pull-ups less than your max number. In your case this would only be one or two reps since your max is three. So like for example, if you had a pull-up bar in your house anytime you pass by it, try to do two chin-ups, or only one if you get too tired. The idea is just to pile on those repetitions, a lot of people find this is helpful getting over plateau like that. Chin-Ups and pull-ups are a lot more difficult at the beginning than things like push-ups or bodyweight lunges and squats because you're pulling almost your entire body weight. The learning curve is kind of weird compared to a lot of other bodyweight exercises.

Another underrated aspect is ab strength. If you're doing your pullups right, you'll feel your abs activating.
Once you have a decent baseline you can do leg-raised pullups, which are the GOAT ab exercise.

Weight plays a huge role, its easier to do pullups as a lanklet with a little muscle.

What stops you from getting back in shape, homosexual?

It's called gravity and square cube law
The heavier, and taller you are the more exponential force you need
Like you weight 1, need 1 to pull up
You weight 2, you need 4 to pull up
You weight 3, you need 8 to pull up
Babies can easily do chinups and hold their weight with one hand

Are neutral grip pull-ups like in the OP actually helpful compared to chin-ups or standard pull-ups? Neutral grip is definitely easier than standard pull-ups, and my results on the latter have been dwindling ever since I got a needy gf who acts like a lost puppy the moment I walk out of the room.

Honestly nobody really knows for sure. Bro scientists are going to come up with all sorts of reasons why one is better than the other. But the reality is it doesn't matter much, you're better off figuring out which one you like best and sticking to it, using the others as accessories or warm-ups if you want. People always say that overhand grip pull-ups target the lats best, but I've seen scientific studies claiming that neutrals actually do. I like chinups the best and I also do rows and my back is plenty strong so don't worry about it.

I'm speaking anecdotally (so I guess I'm one of the bro scientists you were talking about) but I find neutral-grip activates my lats the best but overhand-grip activates my upper back and biceps more. I assume it's a range of motion thing.
They're both great exercises though and like you said, people should find the one that works best for them.

I started doing neutral grip ever since I got golfer’s elbow from doing too many pull ups, they are pretty good but easier so just do more reps or add more weight. You could also try doing ring pull ups.

    >flicks at Batman’s armor

Anyone here get in shape later on in life? I'm 34 and I'm in the best shape I have ever been. I have abs and my arms are pretty big. The thing is, I'm balding and look old as shit because I was basically an alcoholic in my 20s (I don't drink now). I worry, am I wasting my time? I'm never going to stop the cardio, obviously that's doing me good, but some days I look in the mirror and think that this balding old manlet with abs is just pathetic. To the point that I'd maybe be better off just stopping with weights altogether. I've never ask this on fit because they are weird

I'm assuming you're not actively planning to have a nice day, so you can reasonably expect to live at least another 30 years.
Would you rather go through those 30 years as a skinnyfat or just fat, bald manlet, or as a healthy manlet with a good body, who feels good because he's healthy?

      >Should I be less healthy and look worse because I've lost my hair
You're 34, you should be able to see through lookism psyops by now. Being a bald old guy with abs and biceps is better than being a bald old guy without it. Keep lifting.

Nah I think women dig fit, middle-aged guys, probably reminds them of their dads. However - and this is one of the few things I agree with Cinemaphile on - you gotta do it for you. That seems to be the case with you, so godspeed.

get a girlfriend that likes sex and you'll appreciate how being muscular (plus the cardio) makes for great sex
you can't undo your 20s but that doesnt mean you have to spend the rest of your life unhealthy as well. just do the best you can for the circumstances today
