i'm sorry anon. i'm schizotypal not schizophrenic but i have experienced full blown psychosis before.

my favourite movies featuring psychosis are

Bug by William Friedkin starring Michael Shannon
    Clean Shaven by Lodge Kerrigan

What are you symptoms? Do you hear voices?
How does effect your daily function?
you dont hear of schizotypal disorder much

        Anonymous

i don't hear voices, it's mostly: magical thinking and occasional delusion of reference (like interpreting events as having some special hidden meaning), persistent paranoia, difficulty connecting with people socially, socially unacceptable weird behaviour and strange manners of speech, chronic dissociation and derealisation, and extreme cycles of obsessive rumination. it effects my daily functioning mainly in antisocial behaviour, paranoia, avoidant tendencies and being generally unfocussed, and just slightly disconnected from the reality that most people share with one another and participate in, which sometimes grows more severe but never as much as when i had full psychotic break.

but soon i hope to see a psychiatrist and pursue a comprehensive assessment and differential diagnosis to determine if i am actually schizotypal or it's something else. there is a significant degree of comorbidity for many of these symptoms with other illnesses of course. i feel like i might be autistic or have adhd for example.

holy shit i have all of these symptoms, i thought i was just autistic but i might have some schizo
          >magical thinking
          Meaning of this?

            Anonymous

it's basically what i meant when i said interpreting events as having some special hidden meaning. like if it started raining you might think you caused it or that it happened for some particular reason, when in reality of course it simply started raining. it's pretty much like delusional thinking where you can be prone to attributing cause and effect between events where other people may not perceive it.

i'm no psychologist so take it with a grain of salt but from what i've read there definitely seems to be some comorbidity between autism and the thought disorder side of schizophrenia, rather than the hallucinatory elements.

I have noticed alot of thought disorder
Do you sometimes imagine yourself in impossible scenarios and spend hours thinking about every little detail of that scenario? From the weather that day to the details of the furniture and the people to every single word said or action done?
Do you feel like these "imagination fits" are often incontrollable? Like youre just sitting there then you feel intensly compelled to start thinking like that

                Anonymous

i have an overactive imagination and compulsively daydream very often although it isn't as elaborately detailed as what you described, but it is definitely uncontrollable, frequent and persistent

stop using webmd to diagnose yourselves you're both just clearly nuclear level autistic, go out and improve your fricking lives already stop being useless little autistic shits

nothing wrong with sharing experiences on matters that are generally locked behind a paywall by the scam-tier enterprise that is psychology. especially when it is so difficult to access for the majority of people. no one is self diagnosing, but you're welcome to continue projecting if you like; i'm sure that displaced frustration won't ferment and cook your brain at all.

kys self diagnose gay, why don't you cry more about your fake disorder when all you have is autism

Yeah why would anyone use webmd when you can go to a GP who will use webmd in front of you, then give you the fluoride stare with a vague childlike smile on their face while they wait for you to tell them what to do next

then don't get diagnosed, simple as. you know something's wrong with ya so don't get some fancy diagnosis just live with whatever you have until you die like the rest of us

i have literally been diagnosed with schizotypal personality disorder, as i described, and yes it exists. i also said i think i might have autism but am awaiting potential differential diagnosis in the future. you're babbling like a demented child, ah the blissful ignorance of youth.

in regards to your second statement, with early warning signs of psychosis early intervention can actually be extremely beneficial. so the course of action you've prescribed is further evidence of your own ignorance.

I feel sluggish and blue between 12-6pm and then I turn into a raging psycho between 12-4am. Rinse and repeat everyday. Is this a sign mental illness or just one of those quirky things everybody goes through?

I live alone in a completely new city and don't have any contact with anybody btw.

      Anonymous

It’s quirky if you can function while you do it. If you’re an anti social shut-in then you might wanna fix your shit. Hard to say based on what little you said though.

That's because you should be asleep at 12-4am.
The burst of energy you feel after midnight is what is used to rest you while you are asleep.
This is also why you feel sluggish and blue the next day, you are not getting good enough quality sleep.

Significant mental illness. For starters most normal people don't seethe late night/early morning cause they're busy sleeping/resting for their school/college/office day ahead. Maybe on weekends, but again they're shooting the shit with their friends/gf not sperging out in cramped apartments lol. You might be bipolar, keep that routine up and you'll turn into a fully fledged schizo in a flapjacket few years down the road. What's your age?

what do you mean diagnosed? You answered a bunch of mood and circumstance dependent (guided) questions and someone labelled you a loonie? Stop feeling sorry for yourself. It's not science and you're not sick. Unless there is a medical, physical irregularity that could interfere with your hormone balance or brain your entire mental state is a decision.

You're just somebody who got dealt a bad hand in life up until this point. Get over it man. It happens. Just gotta keep swimming and make shit happen for yourself.
