i don't think any one member of the team aside from brett was developed or got any serious character moments, but i appreciated them conceptually.

maybe i don't watch enough shows, but it was cool that the protagonist had a team of underlings that worked for them. is that common? it felt like a change of pace from when the hero has to do everything themselves.

they could have combined myc with andre and lost very little, the only thing he did that myc couldn't was point out racial stereotypes in 80's town. gigi was cool though, and i don't usually like that archetype

        Pretty much yeah.

As for Gigi, I did enjoy the character, but she was definitely underutilized in Season 1A. I don't think she even got a single arc to call her own outside of her news reporter stint in the '80s episode.

This show is frustrating because all the premises are good but the writing is just really phoned in and almost feels like they wrote a first draft and didn't think over how to improve it. The 80's one especially bothered me.

          >entire premise is them going to a town stuck in the 80s and being nostalgic about it, and the joke is that the people in the town are nostalgic for the 50s
          >only throw that joke in at the very end instead of just having the town be as obnoxious about 50s nostalgia as brett is about 80s nostalgia and would've helped drive the point about it being a cope way better

everything feels like they just have to explaint he joke or go for the most one note take on it when even a little bit more time in the oven could've let them be clever and fun and have the show stand out a lot more instead of just being kinda mid waifu bait.

You really want to see Reagan as a mother? She can only be worse than her mother.

IMO they should go the Futurama route and have her become a parent by cloning. It would feel in-character, means there doesn't have to be a boyfriend character (I'm team platonic Reagan and Brett) and it means you can have a kid old enough for Reagan to have an compelling relationship with without doing an extremely disruptive time-skip. Mom Reagan definitely has a lot of potential for good plot.

No, Netflix split the first season into two parts. For marketing purposes they pretend it's a second season. That's why Disenchanted's two seasons are presented as four.

                Disenchanted was boring and unfunny.
Solar Opposites was obnoxious and unfunny.
I haven't seen Close Enough, but it looks pretty meh.

                Anonymous

Disenchantment was a massive letdown because it wasn't funny, most of the prominent characters aside from King Zøg weren't interesting, and for a serialized cartoon, the plot kept running around in circles every season. This was made even more disappointing knowing it came from some of the same crew on Futurama.

Solar Opposites is a little shaky in some areas, but it's overall a fun sci-fi comedy. Carries over that same problem Rick and Morty's developed where graphic violence and dismemberment is used as a substitute for actual jokes, only it's ramped up to 11 here. The aliens are likable tho and they somehow make for a better dysfunctional family than the Smiths do nowadays. Most people will only talk about the overarching subplot with THE WALL, and while I think it's really cool, I'm just as engaged with whatever stupid shit the aliens are up to each episode. I recommend it.

Close Enough isn't too impressive visually or story-wise, but the character dynamics are fun, and there've been some truly funny jokes over the course of these three seasons so far. It really is just Regular Show For Adults, but I don't feel the writers overdo it with the lack of restraints that come with making an adult cartoon. I wouldn't say the setting or characters are quite as solid as Mordecai, Rigby, and the rest of the Park groundskeepers tho. The main couple is cute, their kid has her moments, Alex is the breakout star, and Bridgette can be hit-or-miss. Worth a watch overall.

Inside Job is still the strongest in the end, even with the kinks it still needs to work out with its main cast.

Tuca & Bertie is really fricking solid. I love the characters, I love the way their friendships and romantic relationships are picked apart, and the show's got some of the most lively visuals in mainstream adult cartoons. It's not just BoJack 2.0. If anything, watch it for Speckle. He's so great.

Central Park isn't very funny, but it's a decent feel-good cartoon with some gorgeous bits of animation and lots of catchy songs. I watch it for the parents and the villains. The kids are shit.

Duncanville's not the most amazing thing, but it's easily the funniest animated sitcom on right now. I'm sure you've already gotten recommended Primal and Invincible. I'm a fan of both. And I actually kind of liked Chicago Party Aunt.

                >Inside Job is still the strongest in the end
Not even close. It's cast and humor is much much weaker than Solar Opposites and Close Enough (I notice how most of the praise in this thread had nothing to do with its humor or cast just the chemistry between the two leads) and I don't give a frick about lore especially lore in adult cartoons so that aspect means nothing to me.

i would say take a look at how they do in other relationships as a guide. reagan felt like robot swipe right guy was too stagnant and james bond was too clingy. brett was called out for being clingy in the 2nd to last episode, so that could be a red flag.

but also he was really good in bed in dolphman's body, so he'd keep reagan happy in that sense

they spend the second half of the self-marriage episode trying to convince a guy that the earth isn't flat, it's hollow

the introduction of the father character is him shouting at children trying to get them to believe the truth about the shadow government

the gang's whole deal is to make sure that conspiracies get covered up and not noticed
