Glad this movie didn't go under my radar. What a spectacular fall from grace and commentary on self-image.

Didn't expect one of my favourite video game series of all time to be the punchline of the entire file, either.

    >Have you ever played or conducted Bach?

    >Honestly, as a BIPOC pangender person, I would say Bach's misogynistic life makes it kind of impossible for me to take his music seriously.

Who was in the wrong here, Cinemaphile?

Honestly, they're both sides of the same coin. One clutching to tradition for the sake of tradition, and the other rejecting it for the sake of rejection. Arguably, both parties' opinions do not consider the talent or works of the composer in question, but rather just follow what others told them to do.

Some of the clips going around show her being based and talking shit against CRT and woke ideology. But then again, people are also saying she is the villain in the film.

The movie is not telling you that she is wrong for challenging some idiot's perspective on why listening to white artists from the past is bad. In hindsight you realize that she's bad because she's also making an argument for why you shouldn't give a shit about the artist's actions because their work transcends the person. She doesn't reach the status of the greats so her legacy is just that of a stinky dyke version of Harvey Weinstein who does vidya OST's.

Except the student is a moron who is literally only dismissing them because they're white. He has no problem respecting the tradition of black artists, and she points out that they weren't saints either.

She definitely has traits that may appear antagonistic or aggressor-like, but ultimately she is just obsessed with herself and uses big words to appear greater than she is, very flawed person.

Near the end of the film, the main character (an accomplished NYC based music composer/conductor), amidst many a controversy ranging from anything to driving a potential pupil to suicide and sexual abuse allegations against students, is advised to start over and fly low somewhere. The day before the biggest symphony of her career, she "exiles" herself to southeast asia to play a Monster Hunter concert, a mere caricature of what she worked so hard towards, as intricate cosplayers look on intently

Monster Hunter, don't know the punchline

Monster hunter. She is the greatest living conductor who got cancelled and and now has to conduct promotional events in asia.

She said some bullshit in the beginning about how she can influence time as a conductor. However by the Monster Hunter concert in Manila, she’s handed headphones with a click track/preset tempo, implying she lost the one thing she could put her spin on as a conductor and became the “robot” in the end.
My issue was it meandered too much and didn’t explicitly focus on her downfall.

She went from being the center of attention to being the composer in a medium that doesn't really give a shit about the music at all, just the brand.
