Agreed with Jesse, but the show had to go on. If they killed him off early then there wouldn't be as many episodes or as much money or spinoffs.

team sawyer all the way. even in the earliest episodes, like the thing with mercy killing the us marshall, sawyer comes off as having genuine emotions (particularly when he fricks up) whereas jack is just an autist sniffing his own farts and acting superior. i have no idea why they kept pushing him as the protag instead of someone with a real emotional range like sawyer or even charile.

not really. it just becomes stupider as it goes on. there's some cool stuff in season 2 but it's packed with so much fluff that unless you really adore the characters and watching them interact it's not worth the time.

    Why did he do it

  10. 2 years ago

    Stop now. Focus on science.
They were writing the story as they went along, so nothing means anything…until it does. There is some great acting, and the characters are lively, but it is ultimately just hollow. JJAbrams is a hack of the highest order. A “mystery box” is like a present with really pretty wrapping paper and absolutely nothing inside. His every work is exactly this and Lost is no exception. Pretty and empty.

    I regret having watched it.

      Anonymous

to jj's credit i'm pretty sure he fricked off right after the pilot to make mission impossible 3 and had next to nothing to do with where the show went after that. but it's totally in his style that he said "there should be a mysterious hatch" and then fricked off.

      >Even the season 1 finale was a bit disappointing.
it's hilarious that they still didn't know what would be in the hatch by the end of the season so they had to cut to credits the moment they look inside so the showrunners would have a few months to figure out what the point of the show even was

there were hbo shows airing at the same time that were much better paced with their 10-12 hour seasons. it's a network show that has to deliver 24 hours per year and they stretch it out like crazy.

lost was nothing but filler. the only other shows like that are sitcoms and soap operas.

It's pretty much soap opera in that all characters have these dramatic lives that are being told in parallel. But except for a few moments it's not cheesy enough to repulse all the people who would never watch soap operas.

The show needed to be streamlined. It was as good as it could be on a network like ABC. It needed a smaller cast, less episodes, and each episodes needed to be an hour long. 18 minutes of commercial breaks every episode was exhausting
