Are we really critiquing tried and true storytelling tropes? The execution elevates it.

Nickelodeon really did this show dirty like all the shows that don’t pull Spongebob or Loud House numbers. I am surprised they managed to give it an actual ending.

      >Why didn't you tell me it was amazing?
Cinemaphile doesn't really talk much about Nickelodeon shows. Also once it got announced, tons of people shat on it for being a Gravity Falls clone just because it was advertised as a mystery, and was airing during Gravity Falls' run. Pic related had a grappling hook as his main item, like Mabel.

I was surprised by how well written it was in terms of storyline construction compared to other kid cartoons on any network. You could tell the writers knew what they were doing. However, it was still a kid's show. It never really reached a maturity level compared to Cartoon Network's or Disney's kid cartoons with ongoing plot.
The mysteries in Welcome to the Wayne relied on kid logic majority of the time, there was no extreme depth to anything, which isn't too much of a problem, but I can see it be boring for older audiences. I enjoyed it, and probably would've loved it even more if I was 9-10 years old.

It never really had a chance. Nick fricked its run which predictable didn't help the show to gather an audience. You can't tell how it got cancelled almost immediately due to how rushed S2 was. It's only half the lengh of S1. Aside from Making Fiends I can't think of a show treated worse than this.

Harvey Beaks was treated poorly, and so much so that it pissed off C.H. Greenblatt enough for him to say it online. He spent years pitching and refining it, just for Nick to punt it and leave it to Nicktoons to die with next to no adverts or promotion. You only knew about new episodes if you look in your cable's guide in advance and set it to pre record any episode marked new.

It’s almost as if Nick judges a shows future by online ecelebs and public opinions on messaging boards.
So they know a show is shit so they screw it over early because nobody wants to watch anything but Avatar, and SpongeBob.

I like to imagine Carl got his life together after ATHF, moved to New York, and became the doorman.

You can thank Vailskibum94 for ruining this show for everyone by comparing it to the overrated Gravity Falls.

Yes, but it’s full of massive secret rooms, and new ones appear throughout the run. The show doesn’t make the setting feel anywhere near as small or limited as it could.

Welcome to the Wayne is still one of my favorite cartoons ever. Nice to see a thread about it.

Glad you’re enjoying it, OP. Favorite character or episode so far?

I just finished the vampire episode, Andrei is pretty cool. I also love all the ATHF alumni on the cast.

Pic related is also kinda cute

Yeah they shat on this show very hard. Aside from that, I concur with other anons' opinions on the show, it didn't take itself very seriously and the overall plot was aimed at younger audiences, but the characters were very likeable, to me at least.

Not OP, but Leif and Wendell hands down.

It was a cute show with a lot of potential… It didn’t gather much of a fandom unfortunately since it wasn’t marketed a lot and the art style was less fit for fan artists’ sensibilities, and as people in this thread have said it was aimed towards a younger demographic than other popular Disney shows at the time so never really touched on deeper themes.

I’m personally very very fond of the original pilot/Nick shorts, I find the animation (even if it’s sloppier and has less budget) much more appropriate for the art style and the backgrounds to fit with the characters better.

Because like Kid Cosmic, it goes downhill in the second season so hard that in hindsight it becomes forgettable and unremarkable.

I thought it was good. As far as Cinemaphile discussion goes there was some spam about it being a Gravity Falls ripioff but we didn't talk about it much at all.

Plus we get to see both of their undies onscreen, though sadly not with the boys wearing them.

This show was great. I feel like it flubbed its story arcs a little, especially in the second season (where the new characters don't really do anything despite being a huge part of season one and supposedly really important).
Still, it was funny and had enough positive points that it's one of the only shows I've watched recently that I made the whole way through.

As opposed to most Disney Channel cartoons trying to be "quirky female protagonist?"
