It's a pretty clear film thematically.
The point is that people will invent their own truths to cope with unexplainable or traumatic events and this can lead to consequences, also UFOs are scary and are biblical angels maybe
one of the central themes of the movie is that all living things are at their heart primal murderers, including the alien. The whole point of OJ surviving was that he had a heart to heart moment with the alien the same way the asian kid did with the chimp. I guess the message is that you have to respect natural drives or something...
The alien still had to be killed like the chimp.
It's how people treat wild nature like they have total control over it, don't take safety precautions or frick with something they shouldn't alone like Jupe did with the UFO and like main characters did by trying to take footage of the thing for more fame instead of calling the authorities or killing it right away. Which endangered more people.

Anxiety maybe, it's funny because for a good bit he was saved by being a little cowardly...and is in a more submissive stance looking down or away when the alien was over him which may have saved him in those instances.

Can’t believe Logan Paul said he loved Get Out but hated this. That’s fricking moronic. This movie is better for having a giant alien alone. All in all though I actually thought it was good. I could nitpick a lot but ultimately the monster was cool so I was satisfied.
