Just watched the first ep... it was... Embarrassing. Came off like a smear campaign against Dan for being an butthole on set. Which is most bosses. I also really dislike the two lady writers they're trying very hard to play as victims. One of whom went above her boss to call a Guild instead of taking her concerns to HR.
The other... Was the victim? Of a sex joke...? But not really? It was just her pretending she was having sex which isn't even really a joke. And, oh yeah, eating ice cream and vomiting and not being paid?

Salary issues?
For those first time workers, here's advice:
>Ask to discuss with boss
>He/she can only say yes or no
>If you are unhappy
>LEAVE
Comics and cartoons?
I like them, and you?
It's another case it not even being a secret? Everyone in the whole studio was totally aware Dan was a grabby perverted piece of shit that smelled people's feet way too often?
No, if anything this docuseries so far is making him look LESS pervy. So far he didn't do shit.
I've seen a podcast of the girl who played the best friend on zoey 101.they kept making her wear short skirts. She tried yo wear bicycle shorts under but the shorts were too big so they had to cut them. During changing Dan would sit right outside the curtain.
That doesn't mean anything. Dan had tight control over his productions and was stressed as frick to make sure the shows were appealing when Disney was coming for his ass. Of course he knew sex appeal sold. It doesn't mean he got off on any of it beyond feet. You people really are trying to push this Dan shit when no one has even said he did anything and we're two episodes in.
We don't know shit from these whiny b***hes lol. She probably knew the whole time and is playing it up for camera/lawsuit.
The whole matter (with the salary violation, at least) was already settled decades ago, she stands relatively little to benefit by stating the facts of the case now. The reason she is doing the interview is because she was asked by the documentarians, and because enough time has passed that she now also has nothing to lose.
I sympathize with her enough that I felt bad for her when she said “I sacrificed my entire career in order to win that lawsuit so that they wouldn’t do that shit anymore, and just the fact we’re sitting here proves I failed.” I see posts that say things to the effect of “well if they didn’t like that happening, they shoulda just quit,” but that is exactly what she did, and it still fricked her over and didn’t even work.
This. It hints that something may have happened with him and Amanda, they spent a lot of time writing together, his door closed, her parents not with them, but even that is framed as just odd and moved on. It's like that groomer (real groomer) warning signs of a non-family adult getting way friendly with a child.
Beyond that it's stuff like "nose man's noses looked like penises" and "that snot is like cum".
OP Here
to mods, etc. I am genuinely sorry if this is off topic, I thought it related to nickelodeon.
It’s about live action. It has nothing to do with Cinemaphile. Take it to TV. This isn’t the Kids TV board
My best guess, they tried to make their own version of that documentary about MJ but realized half whey through there wasn't anything solid to accuse him of but they already spend the money and had to continue.
Well the not being paid thing at least is a real concrete concern. Employers do need to pay their workers for the work provided, there are guidelines nickelodeon violated regarding those two writers, and that is why they settled that lawsuit. It’s cut and dry who was in the wrong there.
Unless by “not being paid” you were talking about the silly bet. In which case, yeah, the bet was more dumb workplace drama.
But going to the guild and over the actual unlawful pay thing instead of handling it internally shouldn’t even be an issue, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s what the guild is for.
>But going to the guild and over the actual unlawful pay thing instead of handling it internally shouldn’t even be an issue, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s what the guild is for.
She agreed to split the salary and took the job without worrying about legality until she saw a way to benefit.
She found out she was unlawfully being cheated out of money she was owed and she spoke up.
Nickelodeon was still in violation whether she initially agreed or not. It was not her responsibility to police them- she was just an employee, not a lawyer, and she had a right to assume they knew what they were doing and were playing her straight.
You’re right. But she’s still moronic.
lick corpo boots harder.
Nickelodeon tried to pull some shady bullshit and they got caught. It doesn't matter what she did or did not agree to. She was legally entitled to full pay and their team of fricking lawyers should have known that.
None of this is Dan's fault at all and I don't even know why it's in a docuseries trying to focus on Dan being a terrible pervert. It makes the girls look like fricking buffoons with no idea what theyre talking about.
Drake Bell said Dan supported him once he found out he got molested.
It's over.
Dan was an butthole and a bit touchy, but he's not an actual monster.
Drake bell molested Josh peck. Josh admitted to it in his autobiography.
Well I was not expecting that. Weren't they around the same age?
Also really weird when you consider the whole wedding invitation fiasco.
>he couldn't have molested any girls, he had sympathy for a molested boy
Are you dumb?
Are you?
Drake came out in support of Dan in this 'hit piece' docuseries.
He did not have to.
What did Dan do, besides be an butthole boss?
Nothing. That's what's crazy, this docuseries has actual criminals and pedos in it but still tries to come at Dan.
Seriously? I expected Dan to be a diddler, not the one Drake said helped support him.
Nope, outside of feet/some shoulder massages and a few sexually inappropriate jokes, Dan is totally clean in this docuseries.
It's enough for me to think all the smearing against Dan is bullshit. Like this is all they have?
He's a disgusting fat slob, so there's that.
No it isn’t
He harbored pedos on his shows and didn’t force them out until the kids went to police after he raped them
Not one instance where he noticed something was off and forced them out beforehand. Brian Peck was on All That for years after he assaulted Drake
This series doesn't even paint Dan as close to Brian Peck.
This is as dumb as saying everyone at Spumco harbored a pedo because they worked for John K.
They were just doing their fricking jobs.
Just finished ep 4.
Garbo series, hit piece, smear campaign, and I hope Dan sues.
We don't hear from any of the leading ladies and Drake Bell said that Dan was devastated by Brian Peck and he fully supported Drake in the molestation accusations.
nice damage control, Dan
I haven't seen a lot of this show but it feels like there are some very serious crimes and allegations mixed in with things that are not a big deal at all.
A clip I saw had an actor making a big fuss about how part of his costume was "penis shaped" when really it just seemed like shitty costume design, and the only reason they said it was so that they could say that a joke about someone getting sneezed on was somehow a cumshot joke, as if boogers and gross-out weren't a huge thing in the 90s. It just seemed like a REAL stretch, and they were making a big deal out of it.
Another part was how "terrible and disgusting" it was that Dan named that character on the Amanda Show "Penelope Taint" after the space below the butthole, which is just a standard 90s "getting stuff passed censors" joke.
Dan's a fricking weirdo but are we really gonna call this stuff "abuse" now?
This. It was weird the documentary went so hard on trying to portray Dan as this monster when there were subjects in the doc that were actual, real monsters but the worst they could pin on Dan was that he could be an butthole boss. Which sucks to deal with but I mean who hasn’t dealt with that? And then the black kid and his mom trying to play the race card when fricking Keenan and Kel were just as big and popular as Amanda Bynes.
I do think Dan was an butthole and I am not ruling him out of doing heinous shit, but my main issue with with how they presented clips from stupid Nick shows as if they were disturbing porn.
There are absolutely moments in these shows that are suspicious and kinda weird, but so much of it feels like projection. I feel like if you see a 90s booger joke and your first thought is "obviously this is a reference to cumming and facials", then I think the problem might not be the show.
>if you see a 90s booger joke and your first thought is "obviously this is a reference to cumming and facials", then I think the problem might not be the show.
The same thing goes for all those "obvious signs of an animator's fetish" threads, but y'all aren't ready to have that discussion yet.
Yeah, really, the animators fetish is the watchers fetish.
comics? cartoons?
drama, doxxing and blogposting in general are honorary Cinemaphile
This is all exploitive trash, I'm paying zero mind to it and the rest of you should too
Like it or not the Nickelodeon Schneider chapter doesn’t end until we hear Amanda Bynes’ story since she was the closest to Dan. Something made her crazy and get into drugs and it’s not clear what. For Drake it was the rape obviously, but what would it be for Bynes?
She accused her dad of rape but then her parents put her under the same contract Brittany Spears parents put her under, a conservatorship, for X amount years.
>call a Guild instead of taking her concerns to HR
HR doesn't exist to represent the interests of the employees, it exists to represent the interests of the business. Going to the Guild was the right move in this case.
Dan did nothing wrong. Kids think feet are funny so that's why there's so much relating to feet in his shows.
I was one of those 90s kids that was watching those programs, and I never thought it was funny at all. It was always just weird, and outside of maybe just plain absurdism, it didn’t make sense as a joke until I grew up and realized it was a fetish thing. It’s now funny in hindsight, but for the wrong reasons, and really not funny enough to justify the apparent discomfort the child actors have said they’ve experienced over it.
these types of shows are notorious for really shitty acting where the kids are hired because they can shout their lines loud enough. The writing is fricking awful, and the only reason you'd even be tempted to react to any of the scenes is because there's the sound of the audience laughing or ooohing or awwing coercing you to join in.
Frick all the AI drawing and voice synthesis shit...someone should use AI to remove all the audience sounds from shows like iCarly just to expose how fricking mind-bleedingly unwatchable it is when there isn't a group of people literally prompting the viewer to react.
The fetish thing is in your head. Your mind is in the gutter and that's all it is.
Well then in that case, it just plain isn’t funny at all and is very lazy writing instead of an in joke.
>very lazy writing
Yes, Dan's shows were awful. But he's not a pervert.
>It's enough for me to think all the smearing against Dan is bullshit. Like this is all they have?
Dan has never even been accused of sexual crime, even after #MeToo where there is social benefit to coming out as a victim. Some girl from Zoey 101 said he yelled at her once and made her cry. That's as bad as it gets.
Her thing ended up being more that Jamie Lynn Spears hated her, and convinced her pregnant sister to yell at her. Britney has since apologize to girl.
>Open toe shoes
You filthy prostitute.
My main takeaway from the first episode is that the entertainment industry is just built broken and shouldn’t exist as it does. People have a right to a reasonably safe and comfortable work environment. Over and over again the story is “I did things that made me miserable and fricked me up, because I would have lost my job otherwise and I really really didn’t want to lose my job.” All of the people pulled into this quagmire are deeply fricked in the head- both the people who have this mentality and the people who exploit it. Workers should be able to just walk away and still have options.
And then when you throw kids into that mix? It just confirms that kids shouldn’t have jobs to begin with. Our labor laws fricked up by making actors of all things the exception.
>“I did things that made me miserable and fricked me up, because I would have lost my job otherwise and I really really didn’t want to lose my job.”
I mean…that’s like 75% of jobs out there, anon. You think a high school junior wants to clean shit smears off a McDonald’s toilet?
