MCU synergy is very important.
Being an inhuman meant she was free from the bullshit that bogs down every new mutant character, IE, a brief solo series then killed off in the next X event.
If she's a mutant, there's the risk that will happen to her.
God Forbid they give her the MCU powerset, too, because at that point she's just functionally identical to Armor.
