This unironically. Get Lucas on the phone and release a mainline film every 3 years. If you really want to, throw in a series or a one off spin off film in the gap, but no more.

What makes you think a dude who is pushing 80 and made some half-decent sci-fi movies 47 years ago would be able to produce something new within the bloated franchise that would somehow redeem it and reignite interest?
It should have ended that day... but evil was allowed to endure.
Star Wars is done. Lucas had a story to tell and he told it. Episode VI closed everything so tightly there was nowhere left to go. The emperor is dead, Vader fulfilled the prophecy, the republic is restored, Luke became a jedi, Han got the girl and they all lived happily ever after. Stories are meant to end.
Disney could have probably gotten away with a lot more if they went far into the future or explored the distant past. If they wanted to do their own thing that was the way to go. Presuming they could make use of the iconic value of SW without the proper deference was their fatal mistake.
nope according to George Lucas in a 2019 intervuew Dark Maul with robot legs is still alive after Return of The Jedi and takes over the galaxy with his criminal empire
You guys are arguing about who is better and who did what and here in real life land this reads like every Star Wars everything since 1983. It should have stopped after the first three. Everything else has been corruption and money grabbing. The story is dead, let it die.
Anon, if it´s not in the movies it doesn´t exist. That goes for every piece of EU comic and game out there as well. And don´t even get me started on disney ridiculous multy media narrative format that expects people to read every comic, play every game and read every tweet in order to get all the necessary information for the story to make sense. It´s one thing branch or tell secondary inconsequential stories for those that wish to consume more pieces of media or whatever but it´s a very different thing to leave out key elements from a narrative to force an audience to do so.
Even as a part of a larger narrative a movie needs to be self contained an make sense by itself. Not to mention movies are at the top of the hierarchy. You can´t say "yeah, we mentioned this key piece of information on this tweet from 2019, it´s not a deus ex machina". That´s not how it works.
>awful expansion for empire at war
It's good if you just treat it like fan fiction and play Skirmish and Galactic Conquest. The mods are fun too. Disney is anti-fun and anti-good, so we'll never see another one that has a good story this time around.
Star wars has the same issue that marvel does; years of over-saturating the market with mediocre slop while simultaneously being blatantly racist and hostile towards their core consumer base (white dudes). You'd need a time machine to make star wars relevant again.
I almost hope that her next film makes billies and billies because a week later Iger would be found in his home, dead of auto-erotic asphyxiation, and several chinese diplomats would subsequently leave the US without taking their belongings or informing their staff.
Lean into the suck. May she reign another 50 years, I get more entertainment from the schadenfreude of each bomb than I ever did any Disney Star Wars property, unironically
I’ve have not watched a single bit of any of the new Star Wars movies or tv shows and don’t intend to
I only know anything about them from Cinemaphile memes
Disney makes more money in blackrock investment than they do off of star wars. Having Kennedy there to make woke goyslop will make them more than if they made stuff people actually want to watch. Disney is too big to fail by this point. They’re so rich and so infused with private capital that it makes more sense to keep her than to fire her.
I think what a lot of Cinemaphile doesn't want to think about is this:
if there were better replacement for her in LucasFilm, Kennedy would've been fired and that replacement would have her job right now.
It can get worse.
Hey Kathy, whatever happened to the >Rian Johnson trilogy? >Benioff and Weiss trilogy? >Patty Jenkins movie? >Kevin Feige movie? >Damon Lindelof movie? >Guillermo del Taco movie? >Zack Sneeder movie? >Taika Waititty movie? >The Rey sequel(s)?
Seems like a lot of cancelled projects there. What exactly do you *do* at Lucasfilm?
>be Kathleen Kennedy >wine and dine random nobodies in Hollywood >"So... wanna make a Star Wars?" >they reluctantly accept the job >break the news to the media >TYLER PERRY IS MAKING A STAR WARS!!! >Cinemaphile turns it into a meme, making fake posters for "Media Goes to the Death Star 5." >Kathleen Kennedy sees the project is dead before preproduction even started >cancels it >repeats with another hack director/writer
The Rey movie will come out, 100%.
Because if it doesn't that'd essentially be Kathleen Kennedy admitting that her main OC golden goose is incapable of carrying a single movie, and that'd get her fired instantly. This movie will be released even if it ends up terrible (which is pretty much guaranteed)
How do you get into shorting something? Like do you go through a brokerage firm? What even is it, just betting a company’s stock will go down? I’ve invested a fair bit into vanguard and Exxon in order to do some retirement saving, but I’ve always wanted to get into investing more.
CFDs usually, but they're risky, since you never really own anything and if shit goes too far sideways your brokerage can margin call you, close out your position and leave you with nothing.
Nobody in this thread is gonna admit the prequels sucked and Disney is just continuing the legacy of the prequels
But had they gotten David Lynch to do Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and made RotJ a full Ewok movie with mild plot involvement from Luke it would have been better.
>the prequels sucked
Mostly, yes. >Disney is just continuing the legacy of the prequels
No. You don't really understand Disney if you think they're continuing the legacy of the prequels. If anything, a lot of ethos behind Disneywars is avoiding the bad rep of the prequels and doing whatever they can to avoid said bad rep.. even if it also results in bad rep.
The lesson should be that if you give Nerds content they want they complain, if you give Nerds content they didn't ask for they complain. Nerds on the internet hate every show they love.
Basically your shirt says Genius at Work, but you spend your time watching kids movies.
It is after all a series about space wizards for children and nobody else
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Is he still constantly claiming KK is 10 minutes away from being fired? I know her contract is up soon is he predicting she's definitely FINALLY going to be dropped this time for real?
I find this quote absolutely fricking insane, because Disney have done the exact OPPOSITE of eventizing Star Wars by churning out something every fricking year since 2015
The problem with this is you KNOW they're still going to churn out a bunch of Star Wars TV in the meantime so even if they only release a movie every 3-5 years it STILL won't be an event because of the fricking Watto series that will have aired the last year
Yes. If they weren't aware then they'd still be releasing movies every 12-18 months, and they'd build some of their side content around the sequels instead of avoiding them like the plague.
Oh good more brainwashing from the left to support Maoist cultural revolution funded by Larry Fink at Blackrock. Bob Igers salary was just doubled for his work grooming children for the elite while tanking Yidsney stock
Star Wars only works if Lucas is directly involved and the movies are released every 3 years or more. Anything else is soulless Disneyslop
This unironically. Get Lucas on the phone and release a mainline film every 3 years. If you really want to, throw in a series or a one off spin off film in the gap, but no more.
>Star Wars only works if Lucas is directly involved
lolwut
This was back when Lucas still owned Star Wars. Give Lucas credit for hiring your beloved Genndy and giving him a creative greenlight.
What makes you think a dude who is pushing 80 and made some half-decent sci-fi movies 47 years ago would be able to produce something new within the bloated franchise that would somehow redeem it and reignite interest?
It'd basically be just like what happened with Ridley Scott and Alien
It should have ended that day... but evil was allowed to endure.

Why? Lucas is a fat businessman and a hack it doesn't matter if he's a part of it or not. It's the people around him.
He'll be dead in 20 years or less, it was a horrible decision but I get why he sold off the franchise
Gary Kurtz was the quality behind Star Wars.
The prequels suck harder than you're mom, zoomie.
i really stopped giving a frick after that awful expansion for empire at war and the force unleashed came out
>awful expansion for empire at war

>Announcing "Mandalorian and Grogu (Plush Toy Available for $49.99 in Theaters Only)" coming in 2024!
They would sell baby yoda-themed popcorn vessels for like $70 and soibois would still buy them
His name is yeed.
Star wars has the same issue that marvel does; years of over-saturating the market with mediocre slop while simultaneously being blatantly racist and hostile towards their core consumer base (white dudes). You'd need a time machine to make star wars relevant again.
She's such a smug c**t. Her smug expression in every photo makes her even more unlikable
any day now, have faith
I almost hope that her next film makes billies and billies because a week later Iger would be found in his home, dead of auto-erotic asphyxiation, and several chinese diplomats would subsequently leave the US without taking their belongings or informing their staff.

eventize is not a word
I will make it a word.
There's no way she's not in the Central Intelligence Agency.
only plausible explanation ITT
Whelp I shat the bed.
Kek, this post was still better than the sequel trilogy.
I completely dont care anymore
she can do what she wants,,she was going to anyway
nobody in charge wants to stop her and will happily blame anyone else but her when the shit hits the fan.
so yeah
I think what a lot of Cinemaphile doesn't want to think about is this:
if there were better replacement for her in LucasFilm, Kennedy would've been fired and that replacement would have her job right now.
It can get worse.
Kennedy knows everyone in Hollywood who touched kids the bad way.
KK not being fired is the most damming evidence for Spielberg and friends having raped Heather O'Rourke to death.
>>Star Wars
You mean Dune and The Hero with a Thousand Faces?
Lucas couldn't even hack those two prime sources together in a coherent fashion.
Star Wars has always been lowbrow entertainment with half dimensional characters.
Look at the fan base, chuds, losers, chodes, gamma squirts, omega lulz, male feminists, all into the fricking trash they must march
>"Kathleen Kennedy is excited to undo something she was responsible for"
Wow. Great
Hey Kathy, whatever happened to the
>Rian Johnson trilogy?

Don't forget all of the cancelled TV projects like Rangers of the New Republic.
She was the mastermind behind Indiana Jones and the Dilator of Destiny, the biggest box office disaster of all time.
She wears ‘The Force Is Female’ t-shirts and destroys legacy characters. That’s literally it.
She will never release another Star Wars film in theatres
The Rey movie will come out, 100%.
Because if it doesn't that'd essentially be Kathleen Kennedy admitting that her main OC golden goose is incapable of carrying a single movie, and that'd get her fired instantly. This movie will be released even if it ends up terrible (which is pretty much guaranteed)
I can't believe she hired someone who just makes documentaries to make a fricking Star Wars movie
Ignore everything else about her, the director makes documentaries in Pakistan
RLM was right.
Mike indirectly ruined Star Wars when he recommended JJ Abrams as a director
It was already ruined.
Why did KK listen to him?
Also he recommended JJ as the Director, but for some reason they let him write too
I've made almost 60k shorting DIS since 2021 thanks to this beautiful woman. AMA.
How do you get into shorting something? Like do you go through a brokerage firm? What even is it, just betting a company’s stock will go down? I’ve invested a fair bit into vanguard and Exxon in order to do some retirement saving, but I’ve always wanted to get into investing more.

Mr. Mouse is not going to like the look of his P&L statement.
>Have israeli CEO doing israelite things
>It's the white womans fault actually. Once she's gone everything will be fine.
100% she got SAd by a bigwig and has the evidence, its the only explanation I can think of

I desperately want to know the kompromat she has to still have that fricking job.
I find this quote absolutely fricking insane, because Disney have done the exact OPPOSITE of eventizing Star Wars by churning out something every fricking year since 2015
Apparently they're excited to stop fricking up
The problem with this is you KNOW they're still going to churn out a bunch of Star Wars TV in the meantime so even if they only release a movie every 3-5 years it STILL won't be an event because of the fricking Watto series that will have aired the last year
Do she and the people at Lucasfilm realize that they've ruined their own brand?
Yes. If they weren't aware then they'd still be releasing movies every 12-18 months, and they'd build some of their side content around the sequels instead of avoiding them like the plague.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You Black folk are still chasing the high of the original trilogy? Maybe its time to grow up and move on.
Go frick yourself, Palpatine.
How does she do it, bros? I want her power.
>picture and headline from 2023
>shills brag about Doomwiener being wrong while also insisting a Rey movie is happening
You Rey movie believers are literally no different than Doomwiener's followers
Are there any actual Star Wars fans left? All I see is prequel brainlets and Disney brainlets arguing which movie is less shit.
Nope, the force now being female made people realize it was dead.
yes, we just pretend the sequels don't exist
The actual fans grew up and never looked back.
>eventize
Women and Black folk love inventing big words.
Three syllables is hardly big.
SW hasn’t produced anything good since 2017. And even that was a videogame lead by EA
Oh good more brainwashing from the left to support Maoist cultural revolution funded by Larry Fink at Blackrock. Bob Igers salary was just doubled for his work grooming children for the elite while tanking Yidsney stock
