>Getting close to the end of this book!
What kind of cut is that?
Slicing the air?
She's hooked to an IV without her arm
No I meant the boy.
Oh
that's his c o o l c u t
Really? Looks like a shard of Jadis-glass to me.
Read the greentext again, its the last piece of Cio's mask that didn't melt.
That's pretty fricking specific abbadon
Does that mean Cio isn't DEAD FOREVER?
We already know that Time isn't fully linear. Even if she's permadead, people can undo permanent events once they figure out temporal frickery.
Can we take a second to appreciate SWORD SURFIN'
I like this one better
b***h please, I've got the REAL sword-surf banger right here.
Thanks I was waiting for that one.
Piece of Cio's mask?
Did Cio finally penetrate her?
That's what I thought.
But then how did it get inside of her regrown arm?
>But then how did it get inside of her regrown arm?
She lost her right arm, not her left, that's out of her intact arm, and it likely got in there when they were blown apart from being combined?
>it likely got in there when they were blown apart from being combined?
Perhaps so. Or maybe when Jadis was picking her up, as Alli was staring at the shards immediately before.
What I want to know is what is the small thing that Jadis doesn't know/predict. Is this it? Whatever it is, to a literally omniscient being the unexpected cannot be anything other than both horrifying and freeing. Which sets us up for the end-of-book high-tempo scene.
He better not bring cio back. She's a fine character and died a noble death, but resurrecting her be cause they have all the bits AGAIN like its the fricking bug woman dragon balls, leeches all of the emotional payoff from her death.
I'm sick of stories without FRICKING STAKES. Like, yaknow, DEATH?
He's almost certainly going to do it. I thought his post immediately after she died was more of a "just trust me, I'm doing it the right way" but as of the current update it looks a lot like he was actually foreshadowing his intentions of undoing it as soon as narratively possible. Seems kind of hackish but if that's what it takes to get the story moving again then whatever.
Didn't he say almost immediately after she died that she was going to come back?
Nope, he didn't say that at all.
Cio was always going to die and come back.
>comes back for allison
>surfs away on a sword
holy fricking shit I love zaid
Royalty is a single gnar, endlessly shredded. He may be Slalom Divider's true heir after all.
What the frick Zaid is cool
He's in magic demon Will To Power-land, you'd have to be a complete putz not to come out of it pretty cool. Even Allison has managed it sporadically.
I fully expect a tiny Zaid surfing on a butter knife soon.
I wonder, if cio comes back, will it be her old self, her "new" self, or a new personality entirely? I'm most betting on the third one, to show that things can never go back to how they were.
>infiltrates the major citadel of a goddess
>kills no one
>delivers his message without causing a fuss
>surfs away on his magical sword
what an absolute king
Royal beyond measure
Royal
SO HERE I AM
DOING EVERYTHING I CAN
Nice.
>Zaid surfs pasts Jadis' bumbling entourage,
>Knocks over their lame pyramid heads as he passes
>Tags Jadis' glass with his sick design
>I must go now
>My people need me
>I must go now to collect cans on Jupiter
>PEACE OUT, Y'ALL
>flying on a sword
HE JUST KEEPS GETTING COOLER!
Xianxia protagonist Zaid let's go
Blessed be the Rightful Heir, the wicked sick savior who delivers us from the darkness of nihilism and the eternal breakfast.
Surf up dude !
How are we close to the end if this is the final book.
>Book ends
>Wheel starts over
>He releases the first page again, but with updated art
>small variations begin to appear until he reaches the end and starts over again
>This continues for decades until the wheel is finally broken
While fitting, I don't think Abby has it in him to do this.
>Implying he didn't have a child for the sole purpose to pass down the responsibility to
You think it's about artistic vision and integrity but every turning of the wheel will have all the characters looking slightly larger and slobbier
>You think it's about artistic vision and integrity but every turning of the wheel will have all the characters looking slightly larger and slobbier
You know that's kinda what happened to alison right now?
By iteration #27, Zaid and Allison will be two hamplanets trying to roll up to each other
Damn. That'd be hot. Someone has to draw this.
Royalty is a continuous food-shoveling motion?
One of mine too. When I first caught up, I think the newest page was the one that that's calling back to. Or the one after.
A continuous gobbling motion
Ok while Abby may be autistic, I don’t think he’s THAT autistic.
Anon, have mercy on my wallet.
I think he stated that he's actually dividing BOI into two separate books due to how the fight with Jagganoth turned out.
There's gonna be another book after this one now, this one went on too long and he doesn't want to Robert Jordan it.
What could "Robert Jordaning it" mean other than dying before you finish?
>getting close to the end of the first book
Aren't books supposed to start slow and build to a climax? This one is going to be two chapters of nerdgasm and then a painfully drawn out refractory period.
Abbadon's been pretty open that his plans for the pacing/progression for this last book has been buggered badly and will be split - so I think yeah you're right but it's either this or abbadon has to release a book twice the normal size in 4 years.
That naturally leads us to the next problem though: nothing has happened in this book. Jaggy showed up, they tried to beat jaggy, they failed. Great. But the plot hasn’t moved at all from that point. He’s in the same 2 book dilemma here as he was at the beginning of this book. This entire book was spinning it’s wheels plotwise and now the final victory is going to feel rushed and unearned if he tries to do it in the 100 or so pages he has left. I don’t see a path out of this that doesn’t involve a third “final” volume being announced.
>jagg's followers are still fighting to destroy the universe even if jagg is taking a time out
>cio ded
>most of the demiurges ded
>incubus and maya reunion fight (who won that shit anyways?)
>zaid's back and he's the coolest guy in the comic now
Lots of plot stuff happened anon-kun
We know atleast Incubus still at large leading the Jagg followers, so the fight either went in his favor or a stalemate with Maya escaping.
>>jagg's followers are still fighting to destroy the universe even if jagg is taking a time out
Happening offscreen, part of an exposition dump, no actual plot relevance yet. Actually extends the page count as now there’s an entirely new faction subplot that has to be introduced and fleshed out before the end of the story
>>cio ded
One panel(3 comics if you want to include the buildup and the aftermath). Her resurrection and aftermath is probably going to take up the remainder of pages in this book, if not the next. So yeah, cool idea but for a story that’s theoretically approaching it’s final chapters, not a great fit.
>>most of the demiurges ded
True, and I did mention this as plot progression.
and maya reunion fight (who won that shit anyways?)
That’s the thing, we don’t fricking know. That’s another subplot that’s going to have to be resolved in the next book. If Maya struts in at the climax going “yeah I won offscreen, incubus is dead, get over it” that’s going to feel unsatisfying as frick. If we spend pages on that shit, that’s pages that would probably be better used resolving the actual plot.
>>zaid’s back
Zaid is cool and I’m happy his progression isn’t getting left on the cutting room floor. But with how few pages are left are he and Allison even going to get to interact again? And what about that group that he’s a part of? Are they going to get introduced? Will Allison get to spend time with them? Probably not, given how few pages are left. My guess is it’s going to be all characters we know already just to save the exposition. That way we can get right back to solving the dozen other subplots that have to be resolved.
This is the end of the series we’re talking about. We should be on a headlong sprint towards the finish line. Instead the comic is stopping to smell the roses and even planting a few more while it goes.
Great comment from the comic page
>The sword is a poison
>It makes you sick as hell
>emphasis on I
So who was supposed to come instead? Or am I misreading? Also finally we're getting to the Cio comes back part.
How the frick are we supposed to take Allison and Cio seriously when chad Zaid is so understanding of her being bummed out? I guess I can get behind a Frodo and Sam dynamic with them, but it's gonna be rough when Cio eventually comes back
I haven't kept up in a long time and I'm confused by the talking here. Is the comic ending soon? And what happened with White Chain?
there's been a timeskip since the jagganoth fight of 3 years, basically. the "book" (i.e. chapter) is ending soon, but the story itself isn't ending yet. Presumably, White Chain's been fighting jagganoth's forces in the meantime.
Okay. Some of the posts made it seem more final.
The last time I read was when Gog left the rest of the universe to die because she didn't feel appreciated.
Jadis reconstructed her entire body but missed that shard?
No, she's omniscient. She left it in there because that's what she does. It's presumably important.
It's a Cio shard, isn't it?
So are we gonna talk about how Abbadon clearly based Zaid's hair and beard off the fricking gigachad meme?
His beard is pretty generic and his hair is much more elaborate than gigachad.
nah, his hairstyle is generic samurai fashion and his beard is clearly shaped after Zoss' , i think
i hope we get some background those swords, too. i guess he's been trainning with white chain and maybe even maya and that's how he got that buffed
To spare anyone else the trouble of going through Twitter's abysmal formatting, here's Abby's comment regarding Cio's death from the same day the page was posted.
I hope Elon either destroys Twitter or at least fixes its fricking awful formatting. I don't care which, I've always fricking despised it.
Bruh he's a Homestuck fandom alumni. He knows the shit that self-righteous tardrage can create
>Cio's not actually dead
lame
We've know demons don't actually die for a good while, it was covered in the arc where Cio was introduced.
>Twitter's abysmal formatting
"from:Orbitaldropkick tropes" that simple
That's how I found it, yes, although searching "trope" was basically just a lucky guess. Nevertheless, I despise the layout and formatting of the site.
>The power of love beats nihilism and adds meaning to life
Not that bad of a message if that's what we're gonna get tbh
He’s but absolutely boring and generic
>I hope Elon either destroys Twitter or at least fixes its fricking awful formatting. I don't care which, I've always fricking despised it.
The point of buying Twitter was never to make money, but to be in control of it and its flow of information. One of the reasons the Saudis got involved.
I don't really give a shit so long as it either ends up gone or at least more pleasant to look at, though I doubt either will come to pass
but why is there a piece of wood just going through her skull
handlebars
same way as maya
keys are for b***h homies who haven't mastered the art of cutting
Legitimately my favorite part of the whole comic.
the way they're both drawn is it referencing like japanese woodblock prints or is it more like indian hindu god fights?
yes
Maybe this is the timeline where Zaid achieves Royalty
It would be funny if somehow having the key in all his previous incarnations was what was holding him back.
The key is the easy path to power. But the greatest power is never given. It must be stolen.
I'm so glad abby didn't make Zaid a b***h who gets his dick cut off and dies as the lesbian kweens trib over his corpse like his comment section wanted
He's in the inbetween. He's not the protagonist and he's not generic douchebro boyfriend.
>He's not the protagonist
Lucky for Zaid. Side characters are always way fricking cooler than the MC in stories like this. Dunno why it's true, but it is.
Is this comic any good for a mangagay who wants to get into western shit?
>mangagay
That's a wide spectrum, dude. What are your usual books? At least give a top ten so people can know your taste.
Houseki no Kuni
Made in Abyss
Mob Psycho
Fire Punch
Hunter x Hunter
Monster
Vagabond
Berserk
Vinland Saga (Nothing beyond the farm arc)
K6BD has a fair amount in common with Berserk and Vagabond, I'd say. You'd probably like it.
If by western shit you mean capeshit, then no. K6BD is sort of its own thing with a blender of various Eastern religions and some arbitrary western sensibilities peeking through.
ty bros, i will now read it
yeah its not superhero/capeshit.
what it is, is basically an isekai, but good.
Yeah, this should be fine.
Sure. Updates are slow once you catch up, but it's consistently enjoyable after all these years.
>I KNOW you, Allison
It's hard for me to really believe this. They've met... three times now? One night at a house party, one day at a tournament, and today. Yes, they were both regular humans thrust into this insane adventure and turned into hardened warriors, as is everyone else around them. I need more scenes with them to really believe they have a genuine bond of understanding.
They don't have to have a genuine bond of understanding for Zaid to have that sort of belief in Allison IMO. He saw her risk her life to save him and he saw her stand up to Jagg with the demiurges. Those grand gestures made an impression on him and I buy that it's enough to give him this sort of conviction.
He saw her at her best and he's holding her to that standard since he saw it with his own eyes. Don't need a deep understanding for that.
'ate Maya
'ate Cio
luv CoolZaid
simple as
For a comic ostensibly about how violence is an awful neverending cycle of misery, it sure makes it look rad as hell
One must be able to look past that.
>not being able to accept both facts as absolutely true
"Only an idiot cannot place his absolute certainty in paradoxes."
I know I'm late, but I just wanted to mention that two/three weeks ago Abby said "There's going to be an update like every day this week" and then posted three updates in 5 days before going back to regular weekly/bi-weekly schedule.
he's Zoss but from the past, Mr.Bond. it is his fate to be a badass
Bump
surprised more people arent talking about this. sword surfing is cool, very xianxia
Everyone seems to agree that Ninja Zaid is wicked cool
its the most replied to post in the thread what do you mean?
we used to get more posters in these threads.
Months of being stuck in Jadis' Bass Pro Shop Pyramid really did a number on these threads. And Ninja Zaid is cool, but there's not actually a lot to discuss.
>Jadis' Bass Pro Shop Pyramid
Someone's already made this edit, right? I know it's got to be out there.
