And Samuel L. Jackson wasn’t an obvious choice either. His professional badass reputation was created by Pulp Fiction. Before that he was an over-the-hill character actor.

In my opinion this was the best one. I remember when he came on and the entire theatre collectively chuckled, smirked, laughed and just all around became ten times more entertained by the suddenness of Myers coming on screen. Even though it was supposed to be a "serious scene" there is something about Myers that just makes it intrinsically humorous and that's why it worked so well. It was like comic relief without even doing anything other than having a guy appear.

Yeah, but the TWO sequels went straight to video. Look Who's Talking was five years before Pulp Fiction. Travolta was a leading man before and he became a leading man again through Tarantino. But his career had dried up. I remember specifically in '93 an EW article "Travolta: Fat, Forty, Finished".
