I bet a committee deliberated over whether you technically need one for eight hours.

This is fake right? it's literally Indian-tier broken English

        >The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe
Someone probably should have proofread that.

After a long meeting they decided that incouding “a” or “the” before “great wardrobe” would be too long for marketing purposes and zoomer adhd brains. I’m 100% this is what happened and not some grammar fluke.

          Anonymous

          [...]

Yes, but that's exactly the problem. They started the meeting with the bright idea of making a title like "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", and tried to change it so it was like pottery that rhymed. So had to awkwardly shoehorn in the words and grammar to fit, and then patted themselves on the back because you can technically refer to your 'wardrobe' as a whole, meaning your clothes, and Agatha lied I guess, (even though that's not really a special character trait for a bad guy). But they still felt very clever after it taking them over eight hours to figure all that out. Then they all went out for a very late brunch and validated each other's feelings and smugly sat sipping their lattes talking about how women are just as smart as men - smarter even - and then left for the day after a "hard day's work" ... because 'emotional labour' is even harder than physical labour, I saw a totally real doctor talk about it on 'The View'. So they all felt self-satisfied and then went home to their husbands from their diversity hire fake job, and don't care if he's tired or what he's got to say because he just works in a coal mine.

Omitting the "a" changes the meaning slightly. "With a great wardrobe" ambiguously refers to the item of furniture whereas "with great wardrobe" unambiguously refers to her fashion and attire. But yeah the title is forced as frick anyway to the point of being cringe.

The issue isn't even the grammar, as much as it is the poetic metre.

Clueless fricking idiots who make shitty parody music tend to frick up the syllable count, but even when they don't they'll invariably get the metre wrong:
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metre_(poetry)#Feet

The word 'the' from 'The Lion, the Witch, and 'the' Wardrobe' here is not stressed, but the word 'great' in their shitty little parody title is. That's why it sounds so fricking wrong and shoehorned in. The grammar is also awkward and unnatural, (even if technically correct), because it's just not the way people actually talk or use English.

This is how you can tell it was done by some fricking talentless moron without an artistic bone in their worthless body, and why actual artists like William Shakespeare and Weird Al Yankovic get the big bucks. They would jump out of their chairs and slap this b***h silly for even uttering such offensively discordant doggerel, (which I'd like to see actually).

Notice how they frick up the original phrase metrics from the get by removing a syllable along with the second 'the'. That isn't catastrophic since, 'The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe' still flows well enough, but it's already different to the original.

If they changed it to 'The Lying Witch and her Wardrobe' it doesn't have the metric problems, but makes little sense. Probably one of the stages their little committee went through trying to figure out their 'cool' little title. Then replaced the word 'her' with 'great' to try to force it to make some kind of sense, and even if someone knew it sounded wrong they figured it was fine replacing one word for another, (also one syllable), so it must be fine - it must 'fit'. Though again, I'm actually shocked they'd get the syllable count right and it not be 'The Lying Witch and Fantabulous Wardrobe'. Though we should probably thank our lucky stars that it wasn't, "The Lying Witch and the Homophobe", or some even dumber shit like that.

        >She's tied to the 90's like Dazzler is the 70's.

90's mindset kept continuing until the 00's, and an early 00's Jubilee film could have worked wonders. She'd fit into the myspace and Buffy the vampire era. Make her a "regular girl" who gets hooked into some mutant shit, and is way over her head, and gets some assistance from someone like Wolverine, and you can tell a good story. I would conceivably have interest in a 2005 era Jubilee film, but not a modern one since I know it'd be gay and stupid and full of darkies lecturing me.

Okay but Does Agatha really need her own series though? This is just another example of MCU spreading itself too thin, with too many unnecessary series and characters. Go back to quality over quantity.

Yeah, and Jubilee is someone I MIGHT care about, I could never give a shit about Agatha.

Everyone in position now got promoted there when Disney-Marvel was riding high, and it was only 2019 when Disney hit their box office record. Every single person involved has exactly one mode, and they have no idea how to pivot. Unironically, COVID killed the box office and made people either ignore films or just wait for streaming. So yes, every single person at Marvel still thinks its 2019 and thinks that everything they shit out will make at least 750 million and all the films are budgeted for that.

It's likely that Marvel at the time was desperate for content because they figured that any character that was seen as popular was immediately greenlit for a standalone show. Marvel at the time was seen as unstoppable, so they had no reason to not ride the momentum.

Unfortunately for them, they fricked it up and now all of this shit that was in production at the time are coming to fruition and they will all bomb.

It's like the Star Wars morons who keep announcing movies and tv series just to cancel or fire the director a few months later.

WTF is going on at Disney?

Marketing scheme. None of them are real titles for the show so when they reveal it as just "Agatha" they can re-use the "Agatha All Along" song for the theme. If the titles are real in any way, it's because they're episode titles.

        >Marketing scheme.
I honestly don't think that was the original intent. They fell backward into it after releasing the original title, seeing the confusion or lack of interest, and then changing it for the same thing to happen AGAIN. Then they just said "frick it" and turned it into a marketing meme.

Think about it. At it's core, who in the frick is Agatha? They would be better off calling it

WandaVision was one of the MCU's genuine success stories on Disney+, but they'd made the moronic decision to follow it up with a movie where Wanda is a villain and then 'dies', and it sounds like they don't even have Elizabeth Olsen contracted for any further appearances. Instead of quickly trying to re-sign her and fix things, they've just greenlit several WandaVision spinoff shows without Wanda, to string the audience along until she maybe comes back years down the line. Agatha was a popular supporting character/villain in the show, her song was a popular meme for a week or two, and they're making this show years too late to capitalize on that.

They also seem really oddly reluctant to acknowledge that Vision is alive again. I know there's that Vision Quest show planned, but it took way too long to announce it and there's literally nothing known about it other than the title. Why go out of their way to permanently revive Vision if they didn't have any plans for him?

At first I'd assumed it would be like Agents of SHIELD bringing back Coulson, so Vision would be alive in the Disney+ shows but the movies would ignore it and act like he's still dead, as if they were going to mention him anyway. But then other characters and things from the shows started being important in the movies.

Maybe Vision surviving was just a sequel tease nobody had any firm plans for at the time. The widespread rumor is that Vision Quest will adapt the 2015 Vision comic where he creates a new android family for himself, which would be the absolute last thing fans of WandaVision would want to see, but it's an "acclaimed" modern comic focused on the character, so it's the type of thing that would be on Feige's radar more than any of his classic stories.

            >which would be the absolute last thing fans of WandaVision would want to see
They immediately doubled down on Wanda's shittiness and made her full-on evil, then killed her. That, combined with other things ("I made MODOK stupid because *I* think MODOK is stupid and I don't care who that disappoints or angers!"), makes me think that Marvel doesn't give a shit about what their fans want anymore.

You're sadly right, but if they go to the trouble of making a show focused around a particular character who's already a part of the MCU, so audiences already know if they like or dislike him, and whether they want to watch his show or not, that's a situation where "don't do things the fans won't want" is a lot more important than just doing stupid things in movies with characters who aren't the headline star of that movie.

For better or worse, Vision's role in the MCU is to be Wanda's love interest. Nobody who'd want to watch a Vision show is going to want to see him out of that role, and with a new family, and won't care that it happened in comics that literally only happened because Marvel Comics was fighting tooth and nail against movie synergy with these characters.

But we're in a thread where a lot of Cinemaphile is in outright denial that anyone even watched WandaVision or that Wanda is popular, so the average anon is unable to comprehend why they're making spinoff shows at all, as years too late as they're going to be.

From what I hear the Agatha show leads to Billy searching for his brother Tommy, not Wanda.

It sounds like Olsen isn't coming back or they haven't been able to sign her up yet.

The rumoured (since 2021) Wanda solo movie hasn't progressed far (it seems to have stalled since MoM nuked their ability to effectively market a Scarlet Witch movie) and I suspect Iger has axed it...meaning Olsen might not bother to come back.

Because they never, not for one minute, ever considered her to even be a contender for their female lead. When he was making Avengers 2, Whedon wanted to introduce Wanda, and Vision, and set up their romance, because they were a big part of Avengers comics in the 70s and 80s and he was a reader in the 70s. But from the moment Wanda was introduced, Feige was always planning towards having her become a crazy villain because it happens in the mid 2000s comics he was aware of.

Nobody in any position of power seems to be aware of how badly they screwed up here, as shown by the complete lack of damage control and by them not even having Olsen contracted for anything after MoM.

It's literally that. These stories have somehow become known enough that the idiots think they're popular, and vitally important to adapt. They also didn't notice or didn't care that people actually LIKED Wanda and didn't want to see this happen to her.

                It's like what

In Wanda and Vision they had a romantic couple that actually worked and interested audiences...they then completely fricked it up.

was saying about Wanda and Vision as a couple. The comics turned it into a tragedy because one writer hated them, so the people running the MCU think it absolutely has to end in tragedy because that's what happened in bad comics nobody actually liked.

And yet with Captain America Civil War they clearly understood that following the comics and making their most popular character Tony Stark a cartoonish moron villain like he was in the comics Civil War would be stupid. Yet with Wanda they seem to have decided she was expendable enough to turn into a cartoon baddie.

The reshoots of MoM focused on Strange and Chavez, they clearly did nothing to fix their handling of Wanda in those 33 re-writes.

Oh, no, see, the writer knew exactly what he was doing with Wanda. He wasn't going to naturally set it up so someone else could pay it off later, HE wanted to do "evil Scarlet Witch," so he was going to do it in Multiverse of Madness, and no one could stop him. No, really, he said MoM was only meant to set up Wanda's fall to the dark side, but he wanted to be the one to do the first evil Scarlet Witch story in the MCU, so.

Probably because they're actually building towards Young Avengers, not towards bringing Wanda back.

Also note how WandaVision goes out of it's way to make it clear to audiences that Billy and Tommy are alive, then Multiverse of Madness tells audiences they weren't real, then the MCU is bringing them back anyway.

It's like they went out of their way to recreate the same sequence of retcons as happened in the comics rather than just sticking with them being real.

The theory I've heard is that they need to tell investors: we have plans, we are improving, our next big thing is happening! This drums up fan interest, and investors have confidence. Then they silently cancel it because they're just stalling for time and have no confidence and have no idea what they're doing.

Meanwhile passionate nerds would kill to have their hands on franchises like Star Wars or Marvel, but they're NOT the kind of person who rises through a corporation these days.

It was originally named "Agatha: House of Harkness", if I'm not mistaken. Nobody knew what that was, so they renamed it "Agatha: Coven of Chaos".

Probably would have ended there, but then Doctor Strange MOM came out and they thought they had a winner, "Agatha: Darkhold Diaries". After that it became a meme and they just went with it.

Agatha was supposed to be important in WandaVision because Nightmare, her master in the comics, was intended to be the villain in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. But then they rewrote DSMoM so that Wanda was the villain and they got rid of Nightmare, so now Agatha serves no purpose in WandaVision and serves even less of one now with Wanda out of the picture.

Unlikely, RTD was a big fan of the comics and even used Harkness as a surname for a main character in Doctor Who, so you can get he will be mending this show hard. When RTD memes a show it will get loads of Stock and at least checking the first episode and they'll stick with it as long as it is funny or camp.

No one wants to jerk off or has the stray thought of having sex with Agatha. No one wants to project themselves onto a man and "protect" or "save" Agatha. She'll be some stupid fricking man-hating lesbian who uses whimsy to get what she wants, takes none of the fricking lore seriously because the primarily female writing staff certainly didn't, and won't setup anything greater down the line. Loki S1 was such a divisive shitfest that in spite of people claiming the second was better no one was around to give it a chance. After everything that's been done so far pushing some 50 year old singing b***h as your antagonist is stupid. Making an entire TV series around this character was fricking stupid.

      >No one wants to jerk off or has the stray thought of having sex with Agatha.
Some times I imagine Agatha and Wanda having angry hate sex with each other, if that counts.

        Anonymous

Oh, well that counts. But therein lies the problem. Agatha absolutely needs Wanda to be present for this story to work. Hell, Agatha itself has to be a vehicle for drawing viewers in for something greater, kinda like how WandaVision UNINTENTIONALLY set up all of these precedents that went no where, Agatha has to have the audience actively engrossed in what's coming next. I mean, we all fricking know it's just X-Men shit and no one wants to be baited with a few nuggets of what may be interesting while wading through a pool of insecure "femininity".

They're going to bring back objectively the worst part of WandaVision: everything to do with SWORD. Just it'll just be Agents of SHIELD-lite with Katt Dennings' breasts covered up which means you HAVE to pay attention to her voice and acting which will immediately make you want to mute your television.

Ohhh. Is Agatha connected to the Fantastic Four? Well that right there is the reason she's getting her own show. It's not because Agatha is popular (or they think she is, at least), or because it's intended as a vague kinda-sorta-not really continuation or spin-off of WandaVision, it's because they're going to use it to start building up Fantastic Four shit. I should've guessed it was something like that.
