Because of the death of the cinema there are only really expensive movies and really cheap movies now.
The really expensive ones all follow the same formula and are blasted full of CGI and expensive A-list actors. Most of them have to make a billion USD to make their money back.
Hook cost 70 million USD to make in 1991, which is 158 million adjusted for inflation in todays money. It was a blockbuster production back then, now it would be considered cheap. And they had giant sets that they build themselves and mostly all practical special effects.
This film is just gorgeous to look at. The sets, the costumes, the lighting, the warm tones. I don't know much about photography so I don't know what that effect is called that gives everything a radiant hazy sparkle, it was really popular in 90s kids movies, kind of like bloom in vidya games, but it looks amazing.
he was my favorite comedic actor. i haven't watched a Robin Williams movie since he died. I've started to hate him for no good reason. My grief is taking a strange form.
No, son. Kino AF. Christmas movie, for some reason.

Also, the big AAA slop absorbed every genre into itself, so every film now is an action dramatic ironic comedy, so all the individual genres are dead.
This is like the one movie that reminds me of being a kid and makes me sad
It's somehow the only good Peter Pan movie.
ahem

Smee was gay, right?
No, they're supposed to have that old married couple dynamic but in a comedic sense. Today of course they would have made him mega fag.

Williams was a miscast.
Spielberg was the wrong director.
I can see this concept working with a better script.
>Williams was a miscast
>Spielberg was the wrong director
