2014-15 feels like a few months ago.

        Anonymous

for me there are several years i can point to and say everything was noticeably worse after.

2020 was a big one, the "new normal" of walmart not being 24 hours anymore, most grocery stores closing at 10 or 11 instead of 1-2am, etc.

2012 seems to be when it became extremely noticeable that there was a huge push to get rid of anything men might possibly be considered to be "eye candy". also when rent seemed to just start skyrocketing out of control (went from expecting a $10-$20/month increase every year to $50/month MINIMUM increase every year)

2001 of course was when most people proved they didn't actually care about "freedom" because they were willing to go along with the whole TSA shit. And of course that was when gas prices shot up and never came back down.

so in general everything has been getting shittier and shittier, with noticeable jump points.

Does anyone understand it's how sensitive people were to the news?
If an American woman living in New York read a newspaper talking about a murder in California it would make her stay up all night in worry.

The term "monkey sphere" describes how much consideration we have for our immediate surroundings. If someone on the other side of the planet dies and it doesn't affect us, we shouldn't have an emotional response.

I feel like Kony was the first internet fear campaign that whipped everyone up. Before the internet we only had newspapers and tv and discussion kept shit local. But the internet meant you were hearing other people who cared the most, and people weren't prepared. I think we're still dealing with this
