Gorr did all that because of his child and it was children that became both his doom and his salvation at the end. You can feel cringe all you want but there are other things you should be complaining about in the movie.
I have complaints about all of the MCU movies, but overall I've found them enjoyable and don't regret seeing any of them.
The movie I am hardest on is Eternals, which 100% should have been a Disney+ 10-parter with a more appropriate director for the material.
Agreed, Kevin Fiege got too wienery about having an oscar winning director. Which led to oldest and the most amateurish mistake of adapting a superhero movie from comics, cramming decades of comic bool lore in a 2 hour movie and as expected it bombed.
She would have been fine for a totally different project. There are MCU projects (and DC) that even Snyder would be great for. But she was a bad choice for an Eternals project, and the movie is just too stuffed with crap.

I think an ensemble cast could work with a good director but they hired some random idiot who only got famous for making a movie about a solo lead.
Obviously she wouldn't know how to direct or write multiple people. This stuff is some foresight, I don't understand why big studios think hiring a director is an arbitrary decision.
Eternals is just too much for a movie. It effectively throws 12 main characters at you from out of nowhere; tries to establish their individual personalities and choices, time-skips all over, and introduce an alien cosmology on top of it all.
It really needed 7+ hours of show run to do an adequate job. A movie should have alluded to over half of the Eternals and had more personal stakes.

Everyone in Eternals gets too small a slice of the movie to play in. Even Sersi, the "Main" character. The CGI or lack of it made no difference at all. There was no chance of an interesting villain, because there is no movie left for one.

What was better about having more children was the fact that the experience taught them about the legacy of being an asguardian and the meaning of what it means to be the future generation of asguardian warriors, as Thor moves on he leaves behind a new generation of asguardian warriors who will both be profecient in battle (being trained by Sif and valkyrie) and will have a good leader to follow, Heimdall's son. But I do agree that Heimdall's wife and son came out of nowhere, this seemed like something that should have been mentioned before and another plot contrivance was Sif somehow being alive all this time, she was away in battle for what, 8 years? and somehow she's become dumber than thor was.
