I feel like Bryan Fuller was actually trolling the Chilton and chilly willy fan though, in a show full of homolust we didn't get a Chilton shower scene even though that's explicitly why he went to Will's house? When we finally got a shirtless Chilton scene it ended in the ruination of his looks. This scene should have been milked more too:
>In the Etymologies (a linguistic manuscript from ca. 1937-8 published posthumously) it is stated that "the Quendian ears were more pointed and leaf-shaped than Human." In another linguistic manuscript (from ca. 1959-60), the Elvish connection between ears and leaves is again noted: "Amon Lhaw. ¶SLAS-, ear. las, leaf. slasū > Q hlaru, S lhaw." >Answering to a question on Hobbit ears, Tolkien wrote that these were "only slightly pointed and 'elvish'". Some readers take this to mean that Elvish ears were pointed, while others argue that it is an ambiguous statement. >https://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Elven_characteristics
I really like the design of the ring itself, how the gem is set and how the metal weaves, but it looks lame in the scene with Galadriel, probably should have done it by moonlight instead of sunlight.

I'm not even saying she's ugly, but she just doesn't look Elvish at all, if I never saw the series, only a trailer and someone told me she was playing someone from the Lord of the Rings movies, I might have assumed it would be Eowyn. Instead of a Skinwalker Mary Sue it would have worked better if they were going to make stuff up that just go all the way and make her an OG human ancestor of Eowyn or something.

>Mary Sue
LOTR (movie) fans big complaint is that she's not a Mary Sue, like in the trilogy, and having her suffer and earn her Mary Sue status, instead of just having it from day1, is in fact poor character writing
>Why were the elves so mundane in the Rings of Power? is it the lack of long hair?
Lack of long hair, prestine untangled long hair, was a part of it, but over all, the elves in Rings of Power suffer from
1. Overexposure The elves in Lord of the Ring was magical, Arwen and Galadriel glowed when they appear, high contrast was used? Legolas did'nt glow, but he seldom speak -- this makes him more mysterious. Strong Woman in RoP won't shut up
2. Lack of elvish features and beauty: Liv Tyler looks elvis, sligtly pointed chin, delicate years, slender built, she looks like she can walk on leaves without making a sound, in the movie at least, and has no sign of age. Elrond has signs of age but he's very old, those could be a result of stress and he's not an old man...he also has a slightly pointed but delicate elven look. Strong Woman in RoP is too thickset, short and board, a bit grubby looking -- really the actress would fit more as a dwarf woman. The actress is also 35. Elves need to be played by younger people, that's why they cast Orlando Bloom straight out of acting school.
.
Outside of the movie definitely, but in-movie they wisely avoided having her speak much, she was the pretty piece of home Aragorn was fighting for, his Rosie.
In the book, Arwen was OVER 2000 years old when she met Aragorn, a 20-something adolescent who had been raised in the household of her father, I find that a super nope so I just think of movie Arwen as much younger than book Arwen, like around Aragorn's age or even younger, that's why her dad was so protective of her.
The Hobbit movies had a lot of issues, but Thranduil and Thorin were both great.
Peter Jackson is great at casting, it's too bad the studios keep throwing crap at him, like not giving him more time to make The Hobbit and demanding 3 films instead of 2. Some Argue he could have said no but I think there was a contract, and Peter Jackson wants the people already working on the film to get paid. After the third Hobbit film in 2014 he didn't do anything till 2018 (a war history doc) and is only now working on another film.

An ethereal sheltered elf-maien of the woods -- which was why she absolutely did not beloing at Helm's Deep.
I hated how they made Elrond a limpwrist at first sight, introducing him as writing poetry vs how Jackson did it as a manly warrior in battle, but diplomatic!Elrond actually grew on me, I certainly like him better than Strong Woman at least.
One of the things I like about Jackson's Lord of the Rings is that while it was a tale of manly adventures (and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a literary sausagefest), the few women that did appear was great in different ways, Rosie, Arwen, Galadriel, Eowyn -- that mother who packed her kids off on the horse to escape. Eowyn was a hot-headed gloryhound who can't cook and thrist after Aragorn to the level of cringe, like a female Reginald Barclay, but she was also brave and steadfast in her protectiveness over her family even after she got scared when she got on a real battlefield. Arwen is not a warrior, she's a spiritual elf of the woodland and trusted her woods and the river of her people to protect her and Frodo. Galadriel is kind and wise enough to know she is tempted by the ring, that it could corrupt her, and so she passed on it. Rosie has good taste in men and doesn't get jealous that Sam is so devoted to Frodo or start drama.
Elrond - Father killed Ancalagon the Black, travelled to Valinor to help start the war of vengence against Morgoth. Mother Decended from the greatest figures in Noldor history. Brother was father of the Numenorean race.
The guy who plays Aragorn in the fan film, Adrian Webster, he cute.

Actually, this line would make more sense if Thranduil was describing an Aragorn closer to 10 then 27...27 is almost 30. As recently as a few decades ago, 10-year-olds can go to work, and they fought in wars.
>You got a good bit of gold!
Legolas' dad is hotter than Arwen.
Think Gilmi would ask him for his hair?
Lol, came to post this.
I knew him first as The Piemaker.
Don't remind me. Another good show killed prematurely.
Raul Esparza was so cute in that show.
He was cuter in Hannibal.

Where in any of the books does it mention that the Elves have pointy ears?

It's folklore. There's woodcuts of Fae with pointed ears.
Why were the elves so mundane in the Rings of Power? is it the lack of long hair?
>Why were the elves so mundane in the Rings of Power
???
>this isn't my cheese
That ring looks like it came from Spirit Halloween.
The angle just makes it look more raised than it is
Bigger = more magical anyway
I've gotten better looking rings out of gumball machines.
lol no you haven't, find a flaw with the design. I bet you don't even know why they designed Nenya in a such a way, do ya

liv tyler always looked modern woman to me
Outside of the movie definitely, but in-movie they wisely avoided having her speak much, she was the pretty piece of home Aragorn was fighting for, his Rosie.
there's no wisdom or experience in her eyes. she just looks a shallow young girl

In this picture, Liv look like she totally could have pointed ears under her hair:
Left looks like a hobbit on stilts or three hobbits in a coat

There's no way the guy on the left isn't a gay
Yes, all pretty boys are gays, don't worry about leaving your girlfriends alone with them.

Thranduli is so much hotter than Legolas it's ridiculous.
The Hobbit movies had a lot of issues, but Thranduil and Thorin were both great.
All the elves in Hackson's LOTR were hot as frick. No homo.
why did they make the two-bit king of Mirkwood so impressive looking? I mean he looks like Feanor or Fingolfin. Thranduil is a minor league bum.
Actually, this line would make more sense if Thranduil was describing an Aragorn closer to 10 then 27...27 is almost 30. As recently as a few decades ago, 10-year-olds can go to work, and they fought in wars.
Ten ways children took part in the first world war:

I know they used shortbread for lembras in the film and the hobbits don't like it cause it was dried, but what did they use for Eowyn's stew?
