Only the first spiderverse movie had a compelling characterization, but that's also the problem- miles never has his own definitive version with his own archetype and niche he fills. Bad writers always try to make him better by making peter dead or a cuck, but otherwise miles is boring and just a blank space with a black face. And the weirdest thing is that he's been around since like 2009 so it's not like they haven't had time to write him, they've just written him badly for more than a decade.

Venom had his share of silly moments, but I would agree that his core appeal as a villian is that he's Spider-Man, but completely off his meds. He's more brutish, yes, but he also has the agility, endurance and persistence of Spider-Man and his fighting style. Removing that is like making Doc Ock try and beat Spider-Man with his bare hands - completely missing the point and ruining both the villian and the hero by association.

He's pretty much what you would expect from Venom. Aesthetically he's inspired by Donnie Cates version of Venom by giving him wings and the ability to create Symbiotes with the Knull spiral. I think the 'seethe' is probably the core thing that makes Venom a good villian in a story. Honestly, Peter should die in the next game. But it should be a miserable death. Looking back on all his failures, his failure to save his uncle, his failure to save Miles' dad, his failure to help Otto, his failure to help Yuri, his failure to save Aunt May, his failure to save Harry, his failure to be there for MJ. And at the end, as Miles hears his last words, he says something to do tune of "My entire life has nothing but a string of failures. Maybe this is what I deserve. I'm sorry."
And then the city is completely callous about his death. And Miles just kind of experiences just how bullshit it all is. It triggers a crisis of faith in him, which in turn negatively affects his powers, somewhat akin to Raimi-Man 2. There's a crisis going on, shit just keeps getting worse. Miles wants to help, but he's so depressed over Peter's death and upset at how his last words were just self-admonishment, and angry at how the world seemed to take Peter for granted that it's affecting his performance. His lightning powers aren't working as well as they should.
Actually, Peter's not dead. His antivenom powers triggered a mutation, causing him to come back to life and encase himself in a cocoon to heal his injuries. Basically The Other. While he recovers, he undergoes a spiritual journey through the web of his life, where he meets a mental construct of Uncle Ben and Aunt May, and they tell him that he needs to forgive himself. He's spent all his life just kicking his own ass, that so long as he continues to hate himself, he'll never be the Spider-Man the city needs. And he realizes that there's still at least one person out there who genuinely believes in him, who's waiting for his return.

Peter and Miles have a lot of gay moments together in this game. Peter has a lot of gay moments with Harry in this game and even tells him he loves him. Game ends with Norman going back to his old "partner", Otto. This is a fujo game.
I have a theory that in SP3 Norman/Green Goblin will become the next main villain along with Sinister Six and Carnage which will fused with Norman making The Red Goblin for the final boss.

Miles is stuck in a position where he can't progress, because he's an obvious inheritor to the mantle, meaning he'll keep showing up even when it doesn't make sense, but Marvel doesn't seem like they want to commit to him being a sidekick in the meantime, so his own corner of the books is just about treading water half the time. So instead he gets pushed through unimportant bullshit like yet another spider-verse splash page or a baby sister, while the higher-ups bide their time.

There was a comic about a French cartoonist in North Korea that has been storytimed here a few times. One of the things the author remarks on is how Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il portrayed so identically in artwork that it's like some kind of psy op to make father and son into a singular near-religious figure. I get the same kind of discomfort when I see the captions from this game with two characters named Spider-man talking to each other and only differentiated by some weird little emoticon.
Why though?
They can actually just keep this going. Give a kid from a different racial background and have them deal with new spider powers, and a troubled life. Give every spider person a movie series now. Gwen first, then Silk. For bonus points, make the Silk movie's bad guy the Bakeneko. Bonus points: her human disguise has worked her way into Silk's life as her father's fiance.
